I'm New To Football And Chose The Browns As My Team

The Browns Board

  • The football tradition of Northeast Ohio is beyond compare. There is a reason the Pro Football Hall of Fame is here: because the NFL was founded right here. And more pro football championships have been won by teams here than anywhere else. (tied with Green Bay).

And the fans are the most loyal here. Its not like elsewhere where you win 4 titles in a decade, and within a few years only 35-40K show up for a game.

And here is a slogan to remember:

When the Tide turns, it will be a Tsunami.

  • I'm actually looking at yhe schedule now to see what home game I want to go to. What's a decent middle of the road place to crash for the weekend?

Where are some cool places to eat in town and to site see?

  • A lot of people will tell you probably fourth or sixth street because they're close to downtown. Unfortunately downtown kind of sucks unless you like the casino. I haven't been there but it just opened so it has to be nice. There are a lot of cool places in Cleveland and some of the nearby Suburbs like Lakewood but you're best to have a car if you want to get to any of them.

  • I'm gonna fly in and rent a car, thanks!

Well, don't make a commitment to a game yet- wait to see what game the Brits (Howie & G-Man) will be in town. It will be reunion weekend, with Board members flying or driving in from all over the country (and other countries). I believe there will be a special bash then.

As to cool places- the Rock & Roll HOF is next to the stadium, the Pro Football HOF is an hour drive down the road in Canton, as to neat places to eat- depends on your preferences and budget.

  • Hey Larry, we are going to be coming over for the OPENER this year!

First time we haven't come over in either november or December - so it's shorts and tee shirts this year!

We haven't booked yet but we will be with you all again for the opening weekend

  • Which one of you on the board created this account? Someone looking for a football team chose the BROWNS!?!

Kidding. Although as an outsider around these parts you should know the Browns have been referred to as a "Factory of Sadness" prepare for the heartache. All the in fighting here is a direct result of the aforementioned factory.

  • Ah, don't mind homotron. He's a steeler fan. Why they come here to rub their runny noses on the board is beyond me, except that they must secretly love the browns.

That is a condition that can be placed squarely on the shoulders of the owners and management, not the fans obviously.

At least we can say the kid is not a FRAK like so many of the fans of you know who.

  • I need to play catch up. I saw the NFL network do a brief history of the team but it was a part of a larger segment.

I looked up the team on wikipedia and saw the lengthy history but I want to know more about the team today.

I want to know about the stadium, the fans, tailgating and rivals! Thanks in advance!

Welcome, BIGBROWN. Glad to see the next generation comming up. You'll need a couple of things to see you through. No.1 Loyalty! either your with us thick or thin or get out don't need no fair weather fans, real Browns fans are the most loyal fans in the NFL. Im speaking out of "way-back" times I go with this team. No.2 A Strong Heart, You will have games of amazement on how we lost and last second screw up that will test your heart, so stay stong and have a short memory. No.3 and last no matter how things are still be proud of your team and wear your colors when you can. Im in a Who-day arear and I never see there fans where there colors much, but I'll see Browns fans 2 to 1 more often. Good Luck and Welcome aboard.

I think if you keep checking the Tailgate Forum you should get all the info you would need.

Did I really just get lumped into a category with Shep, Rich and Ghoolie?

    For shame.

Nah. I just LOVE arguing with the browns faithful on this board BUT more importantly for the AFC North happenings.

No problem. Stan puts up out of town guests for $10 a night. He'll cook you burgers the night before and his wife Kathy will get up at 4am on Sunday to make sure you wake to fresh baked blueberry muffins and biscuits with butter and assorted homemade jams. 😉

Ive been on the" thrill ride" and the "trail of tears" (haha) that is all things Cleveland sports. But I love em! GO BROWNS & TRIBE!

I think that's more like jello shots, Bud Lite & Bagels. 😆

The "Orange Stuff" comes later- and I just ordered a couple cases of it. 🙂
