Weeden is much better than Colt and Frye and DA. He is more mobile than he is given credit for as well.

I'm excited too. Frye was a 3rd rounder that won 2 of his first 5 year as a Brown. DA was a 6th rounder that we picked up off the scrap pile and he went to th Pro-Bowl in his first year. There should be no problem for our 1st round BF to take us to the playoffs. I'm pumped.

so tell me why they should have wasted 3 picks to trade up? if we didn't get TR we would have at least got the #1 CB. don't get me wrong i like heckert but last year was one of his worse drafts yet. i hope to whoever above that TR turns out to be a 7 year pro bowler. but to this day i have yet to see him anywhere on tv cuz he's not playing. so who's to know that he was the right pick?
and can we see mccoy play with the first team offense? what are H and H scared to be exposed as falling back on their words again? or scared to say dewek ambusun?

If you draft a 3rd round QB in the 1st round, does that make him a better player? This year represents an interesting experiment. Frye had pretty good chemistry with Braylon Edwards. Let's hope that BF can develop the same thing with Gordon. I'm re-watching the game on STO and trying to find something to be optimistic about.
BTW, if we turn out to be as bad as the experts predict, it won't be because of of BF, the Offensive Line, or the dropped passes (all of which we've been watching for the past several years), it will be because of our continued awful defense. We continue to suck-year after after year. Putrid. The Eagles defense was forcing turnovers, laying hard hits, and making plays. Our D did none of that. Here is a surprise for many Browns fans (including Rich and Ghoolie)- you won't many games if you don't force a punt.
It is sad to see that our dreaded QB selection skills are shining through again, the worst one for me was the 3rd & 9 with 8mins left in the first qtr. Little wide open, plenty of time and protection to deliver the ball, but Weeden has to try and beat the radar gun as if he is still at pitching practise for baseball. Mike H in his Bleacher report said this was on Little, that's bullshit Little never had chance to get there slowing down when see ball sailin way in front and above where it should have been. Weeden's lucky he's been named starter cause if we were using the logical solution of playing the guy who gives you the best chance to win, well I'm afraid that's still McCoy no matter how crap people seem to think he is.

Interceptions seem to be ok so that does seem a plus point for the Defense, lets all just hope come Sept 9th Weeden will click and the rest of the team show us what we hope they can be, big IF at the moment though.

Yes I guess you could say that, but I dont think Weeden is that bad, and as has to be taken into account he is a Rookie, so hopefully any mistake he is making will be ironed out quick enough, He came out of College with 72% Comp final year but through Pre-Season so far has dropped down to 49%, so something is wrong there, and dont say better defense as there are also better receivers also, that said ours haven't shown the greatest skills last year or so, but still one the main resons he was brought in was his accuracy. So fingers crossed Wk 1 versus the Eagles I will be hoping his Comp % back up towards 60% if he is hoping to win some games this year.

The people who drafted him the 1st are professionals, you are not. They know what they are doing. You can't say he should have gone in the 3rd round. Colt McCoy is playing his ass off. it seems nearly impossible to hold that kid down.

This entire thread is pure "insanity" Really? The team gets killed in a pre-season game by a team with far greater talent andn we all jump ship. There was no gameplanning or scheming going on at all, and our best offensive player still isn't playing... give me a break.
And, Weeden has already shown that he is far better than McCoy. He has made throws that Colt has never come close to already. BUT, he's a rookie. He can get rattled by the pass rush, he still needs to develop chemistry with the receivers, and the game is still faster than he is anticipating. Give him a break, Weeden has nothing to do with how bad the team looked against PHI.

Once again I reiterate that people like this are CLEARLY what's wrong with our fanbase. We used to have a tough blue-collar hard nosed intelligent fanbase that could hold a decent conversation about football. Now we have IMMATURITY at it's fullest. I realize that losing as much as this team has lost has caused a lot of knee-jerk reactions but seriously, COME ON MAN!!!! This team will never be better without a QB that can make all the throws needed. I'm not totally sold on Weeden either, but after watching Colt I can understand why they felt the need to make that decision. Colt could have gone through another season until we picked up a QB next year, but how would YOU have handled that if he looked like he did last year. The O line ain't lookin spectacular, and TRich was supposed to come in and help. They assessed Colt and determined it was time, I for one am in no position to argue. As far as what I do for a living, what does it matter, it's not running a football team so i'm not going to act like I know how to do it...

Colt played his ass off last pre season. Colt played with the 1st team last season as the starter and tripped all over his dick. Wow, he's having a great pre season again...with the 2nd team. Big deal. Weeden is 3 weeks into this offense with a revolving door on the right side of the line and a RB that can't catch or hold on to the football to save his life. I'm willing to give BW more than 4 qtrs of pre season play before I pass judgement.
