Holmgren To Be Removed

Also heard that Haslam has hired someone from Pepsi Co. to run his truck stops. Something changed his mind in the last five weeks to make him want to take control of what is going on here in Cleveland. For me, this sounds like a great thing. Shurmur will be gone and we will get someone in here who will take full advantage of the talent we have... let's at least hope so. A great point people are making is that when you look at Washington, they have adopted an offense around RG3. But here in Cleveland, the idiots try and cram a completely new offense down the throat of Weeden and everyone else.
These offenses are working in College, why are there bull headed guys in the NFL that don't see that?

But we need to implement the West Coast Offense. Dont you know that is the only way to win games. Seriously though, If they had adapted to a players strength then Colt might have been a half decent QB. I'm pretty sure you can design plays which take advantage of his mobility and relatively lower arm strength. Is is any wonder that the best year that Colt had as a Brown was under Eric Mangini in his final year where they were forced to play to win and not to implement an archaic system?

Great News
HE CAN'T DO ANY WORSE
Oh sure he can......
But as long as he doesn't bring in a POS like Michael Vick, fine.
That might not have been done under his watch in Philly anyway.

When Banner comes in he is going to have ZERO control over the roster, just like he did in Philly. The signing and starting of Vick was Reids choice and his alone. Rather Banner is going to be in charge of the finances (Player/Coach/Front Office) like he did in Philly. He will have the power to hire/fire (I think) but not to cut players or pull rank to pick who he wants. I think what it comes down to is he has de facto power. Heckert says he wants to sign player A and Banner tells him fine but he can only offer player A X amount of money.

We'll see if he has those limitations. I know that is how it was in Philly, but in the end Jimmy is going to decide who has what say and how much say.
Until he has official control of the club and starts making official announcements, it's only conjecture as to what will happen.

It was such a short time ago that most of you here thought I was just a troll when I said that Holmgren had very limited qualifications to be the head honcho.....and he got fired from that gig too!
It looks like it won't matter much as it's odds on he's going to get fired again. The McCoy & Weeden picks are all on Mike. BW is going to have to improve 1,000% to make it look like Holmie didn't screw up twice.

I agree with that....and I was in favor of Weeden over Colt.
I still am and will be, but that doesn't mean I won't be in favor of replacing both of them if we continue to look like a bad HS team out there.

Before replacing the QB's I would first replace the HC and OC and see if we get better.

If Holmgren is removed it probably won't be because JH didn't think he was qualified, but because he wants to bring in his guy.

Well Holmgren is 9-24 so far in his tenure.
With an Offense and Run Defense that will probably be ranked towards the bottom of the league again.
How many years can we say "Well let's see if this draft pick pans out" ?
I think firing Holmgren based on performance alone is justified, remember he was made to step down as GM in Seattle.

Let the house cleaning begin!!!!

I am just glad the Lerner era is over. I respect the guy, but he was not the best owner.

I'm not afraid to admit that I was riding first class on the Holmgren bandwagon. But over these past two years and change one thing is evident to me. It's not that Holmgren doesn't care or that he doesn't have the fire IMO. For me, I just think the game of football has completely passed him by. He's so sold on his conventional ways and it's clear he either refuses or doesn't understand how to win in today's game. I don't care what anyone says or the implications of hiring Childress, Holmgren has been in the ear of Shurmer about how to run the offense. And as we all know, the way we play offense right now Tom Brady couldn't succeed. I'm glad if this ends up being true because I have a strong gut feeling Haslam knows this and will aggressively bring in a new staff.

None of us really know if Holmgren has any influence on the offense besides him picking the guy to draft and coach.
He's said more than once in interviews that he let's Shurmur do his own thing.
Shurmur did not call a horrible game last Sunday.
If not for Weeden missing MoMass in the endzone on the first series and Little dropping the ball that got picked the Browns would of had at least 10 if not 14 more points on the board.
I just think Shurmur's game managing has been horrible and he comes off like a total dolt, not much faith in the guy.
And the fact remains the Browns are no better off since Holmgren took over, you could even argue we'd be a better team if Mangini were still here.
So to me so far Holmgren has failed.

Exactly. One also has to figure that Homie as pretty much had unbridled rein the past several years. Something tells me JH isn't going to be the type of owner who turns everything over to someone else. He will be in the locker room. He will sit in on meetings as a participant. He will have a word on draft day.
You start new, you bring in your own people. By seasons end I'd say a change at head coach and GM are also better than 50/50......way better.

You can believe that, but I don't buy it for a second. I'm not talking about actual in game play calling, but behind the scenes. I get this strong feeling Shurmer's offensive gameplan overall is influenced highly by the big guy.
