Why Is This Man Not Our President?

Political Discussion

  • To me it's clear he is the most honest, forthcoming, logical choice.

Now I'm not Mr. Political at all, but I'm curious to hear the opinions of those who are.

If some of you guys know half as much as you pretend to please tell me the major reasons he did not win the Republican card over Mitt freaking Romney.

This election to me is like choosing between dumb & dumber.

  • Im no expert in political sciences either, but I can at least say I have a little common sense, and something is telling me we are in trouble with the guy that is in the WH now...

He (RP) would be my choice as well, a medical doctor with the right mind for what ails our country... unfortunately he isnt popular to the masses who believe that stimulus, printing dollars,

spending spending and more spending that defines the way this current administration goes and will continually do for the dependants - to our eventual ruin....

He would eliminate many federal depts that would make a liberal head spin forever, and eliminate funding for what many today enjoy as entitlements (EBT and the like....)

He would be like the lone ranger against the establishment setup in Washington DC, and never got serious consideration from the establishment republicans.

It all starts with the basic levels (you and me for instance) the caucuses and state primaries to effect change, and right now the political power holders are

a tough nut to crack. Ron Paul and his son Senator Rand Paul represent a growing number of people like you who are tired of the current bullshit we are being fed... think tea party

So if you are against the current administration like me and a few others here, our only choice is to vote for Romney as Paul, sadly will not get enough votes to win.

but keep the faith my friend, there might yet be a day!

  • He would only make a good pick to run the Fed.

    etc.

As pres, he is a knee jerk, ignorant dumbass in foreign policy.

Perhaps worse than Obamao in foreign policy, at least obamao is a do nothing "Present" dimwit.

He's only a money guy, with a big, desperate for attention mouth.

But, as a money/budget/economy guy, he'd be good.

Never as pres, despite his appeal to hard core libertarians..

  • First and foremost he looks and sounds like the Purdue chicken guy.

Second is fiscal policies are unrealistic.

We are never going to abolish the fed nor adopt a fair tax plan.

We as a nation are too squeamish to admit that with freedom will come some people doing things we don't like.

He backpedals when confronted with those issues.

Isolation in today's world just isn't a realistic approach.

Finally even if he won members of both parties would do everything they could to get him out.

Freedom is a catch phrase, not a reality.

  • ah yes.... but when you talk reform, why not start big ? Ron Paul is merely the messenger.

True enough hooker, but I think as a nation at our age we are heading away from libertarian ideas.

Not a particularly pleasant thought but inevitable I think.

  • The real reason he won't ever be elected is he looks like a gnome. Sad but true. We play American Idol politics and you have to look the part. In this day and age Abraham Lincoln and FDR could not win an election.

  • Why isnt he stupid ? Cos Americans - when it comes to politics are stupid. They think that any attack on the policies that the govt decides is unfair and people who attack those policies no matter how terrible it is, Is unpatriotic and if you are unpatriotic then you are evil. We have more to fear from ourselves than others.

It is called progress Steve. People now have the option of choosing to live how they want without the govt/society telling them how they have to live and that is the way it should be. It is something that old timers will have a tough time adjusting to but that is the inevitability.

He doesnt back paddle. People cannot take the truth when it is laid out hard and cold. Everybody needs to hear that there is a politician who is a hero who will make all the problems go away. Unfortunately not only does that guy not exist but even if he existed such a solution is not possible. The truth is the govt and the people together need to make sacrifices if we want to get out of the debt situation.

So when PAul makes a cold statement (which sadly is true), the public cannot stand the truth and they think that he is the problem, not the debt and that by electing for someone else who promises them better things they are making the right choice.

Ron Paul wants the USA to be isolationist which is old fashioned. Would never vote for him.

    Call it what you like.

Progress is not an inherently positive term.

Cirrhosis of the liver progresses so does cancer.

I just don't see the country moving toward more and more Liberty.

    And of course he backpedals.

Here's an example for you to agree or disagree.

In a free society someone who owns a business or a property or provide a service should be allowed to decide for himself to whom he sells or provide that service, correct?

Even if you, I or anyone else found it offensive.

Do you think he should sugar coat that in public interviews?

    WSS

  • Steve

List three ways in which society has progressed in a negative way

    go

I just wanna hear what you have to say

  • I always thought he looked like Mr. Magoo 😆05.jpg

So how exactly is he an isolationist besides not being in favor of having military bases in foreign lands and occupying Islamic countries?

Afaik he is perfectly fine with dealing economically with other nations, and with us pulling our nose out of the rest of the worlds business could only help us politically.

Just because you are not the Earths Police Department,Bank,Hospital,Ambulance doesn't make you an isolationist. Of course then I guess that would limit our ability to control other Governments and their U.N votes.

I think when it comes down to it whether left of right all the political types can agree on one thing, Israel.

That's when we see who is full of shit and who isn't.

Pulling Israel off the American tit is the number one reason he'd never get elected.

Why is it not feasible to abolish the Fed?

Do you not think it needs to be abolished?

Our currency is backed by oil. What are our grandchildren, great grandchildren etc. going to do when all the oil is gone?

    Great post there.

The main reason Ron Paul, or any other 3rd Party candidate isn't even a threat to be President is the two party system. There is so much money in the R & D party, they control the whole political game. It's frightening in many ways, and yet, people pledge their allegiances to these nut jobs despite gridlock on Capitol Hill.

Here is the problem - If one tells the truth as is (being brutally honest), the no bullshitters will like it but common men will be offended by the crudeness. If you sugar coat it to make it more presentable, the common men will perhaps like it but the no-bullshitters will sniff out the sugar and will be offended and call it as they see it. You just cannot win, that is the nature of the beast. One has to be the most eloquent speaker to be able to have the masses swaying to your words.

  • Paul's simplistic, knee jerk, and outlandish solutions come home to roost.

That is why he doesn't have a chance - he's a crackpot. Give him up, he's nobody's real hero.

He's a crank, that says some good things in general terms.

    Big deal? nope.
