West Coast Offense

The Browns Board
27 10 1.1k
  • This group of Holmgen, Heckert, Shurmur...........want to run the westcoast offense. But they sign and draft NOT 1 GOOD wr. Then they use a 3rd overall pick on a RB,(that they don't use) and take a QB that's best asset is the shotgun, throwing the ball deep

I can't wait for the new owner to get rid of these idiots

  • Gordon and Little are both supposed to be great YAC receivers and the WCO is all about YAC.

    My point EXACTLLY.........

  • I think the ENTIRE team would be a lot better if we sprinkled in a little Colt McCoy. I understand that Weeden is "the guy" but Colt isn't terrible either. I think he has some really good qualities and could ignite our offense ala the WildDawg formations.

do you think Mccoy would have completed that "BOMB" to Gordon last sunday?

Gordon is a rookie and Little is in his second year, you have no point.

seeing as they are rookies' and second year guys..................there BEST quality should be running after the catch.

  • a West Coast Offense on the North Coast that is as out of date and crappy as an edsel.

    fucking fools.

btw, drafting weeden was the biggest mistake of cleveland's draft this year. if YAC are so important in this scheme (WCO) then why do you need a QB to throw a 60 yd. bomb? you throw the little dump offs the 30 yard slants and the screens. WHAT YOU DON'T DO IS THROW PICK 6'S EVERY SUNDAY!!!!

  • How so?

We can count on one hand how many times a receiver has caught a pass with open field in front of him.

The playcalling needs to get better and the execution needs to get better.

That's right. The Browns want to run an offense that was pedicated on Montana, to Soloman,Clark,Rice,Tyler,Craig.........Young to,Rice,Waters,Jones,Taylor, Farve to Sharpe,Levins,Freeman,Chumra

we need atleast 2 WR's, a hall of fame QB, and an all-pro TE to match any of those teams

The Packers, Rams and Eagles both run West Coast influenced offenses.

Only one of those has a Hall of Fame QB. None have All Pro TEs. But you are right, we need WRs. Little and Gordon wouldn't be so bad if they actually could catch the ball.

Our WR corps will be MoMass, Gordon and Norwood soon.

That's exactly what this team needs: a short-armed, drive-killing QB that throws behind receivers. Then we'd start holding teams under 40 points!

So we have a big-armed, drive-killing QB that throws behind receivers? huh

    Weeden is throwing behind receivers?

Umm, maybe every once in awhile

Did you watch Colt play last year?

If Weeden eliminates mistakes we have big play potential from anywhere on the field and a QB that can make all the throws.

If McCoy eliminates his mistakes then he can lead us to 14 points per game instead of 10.

Sounds like someone misses the ol' 5 yards pass thrown behind the receiver on third and 7. Those were fun.

    Zombo

  • Lol we're still making those passes in front of the sticks with ol Weeden, it's not about the QB it's about the shitty coach.

  • Not that I am a Colt fanand I am not saying bench Weeden just yet, but he never had a fair shot at QB.

    Looking at last season:

-WR Little led the entire league in dropped passes

-WR MoMass wont even put his arms out to catch a ball if there's a defender within 5 yards. Half of those he drops.

-RB Hardesty couldnt be 2nd string on most teams

-OL so bad Colt had more yards scrammbling then our RB did each game.

-By the end of the season, Colt took so many hits he understandably had no confidence in his OL so couldnt go through progression

As bad as we are this year, we have twice as much talent as we did last year.

One positive thing I can say for Colt is that he will play hard and give it his all.

Let's stick with Weeden, but if he isnt consistent by mid-season let him watch a few from the sidelies

  • God lord. Can we stop with the Colt didn't get a good shot gripe. We all know he didn't. But we all know Weeden has much better physical ability than McCoy.

How exactly do you figure we have twice as much talent this year than last? Everyone you listed still starts, with the exception of Hardesty. Are you figuring in Schwartz? Because he's hardly been a world beater at RT.

Little still leads the entire league in dropped passes. MoMass has only played half the games this year, and hasn't exactly been a star when he was playing.

Weeden does get a lot of help from Richardson, I will agree. Unfortunately, he only gets that help 66% of the time he's on the field as Richardson is apparently best utilized on the sidelines on third down for some reason.

  • Not to mention Richardson also gets help from Weeden's arm, if Colt were playing no one would respect the long ball, and Richardson would bare the brunt of it.
