Iran Fired On A Drone On November 1, And It Was Never Reported

Michelle Malkin: Americans' 'Blood Should Be Boiling' Over Obama Administration's 'Systemic Truth Suppression'
Yesterday, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little confirmed that on November 1, an unmanned U.S. drone was fired upon by Iran. The incident happened over international waters, about 16 miles off the Iranian coast. The drone was not hit, and returned to base safely. Now questions are being asked about why this incident was not disclosed until a few days after the presidential election. It comes on the heels of the criticism leveled at the Obama administration for its handling of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, Libya, and the reasons that officials initially provided for the terror attack.
On Hannity last night, Michelle Malkin said the timing of the news "stinks," but argued that it's consistent with the way the Obama administration has consistently acted over the past four years.
"This has always been the Obama way. They accuse the Republicans incessantly of voter suppression, but these people have been responsible for massive, collective, systemic truth suppression," Malkin said.
She also questioned whether any "lapdog" media outlets were informed of the Iran incident and agreed to keep it under wraps until after Election Day.
"I would like to know were there any outlets that were informed of this and then told to keep it quiet? The same way we know that many journalists were apprised of Benghazi and kept quiet about it to serve this campaign's needs before the election. People's blood should be boiling. I think we just have to redouble our efforts to shed sunlight on these matters," Malkin said, adding that the Obama administration consistently puts its political interests over the national interest.

Not sure why this is an issue. When two countries don't like each other, soldiers get bored and shoot at each other.
See the DMZ in Korea.
Plus, the drone wasn't hit. Seems more like warning shots to me. If the Chinese brought a drone to within 16 miles of our coast, do you really think we wouldn't shoot that thing down?
-
Guys, if we're going to fly drones into the airspace of foreign countries that are our enemies, guess what? They're going to shoot at them.
I saw this story, read it, and went on with my day. I didn't realize anyone had the wingnut gumption to make it into a conspiracy theory too.

The real question is why did they miss the drone? A remote control drone should be an small but easy target for a trained pilot to hit.
Also if the reason Iran fired on the drone a couple days before our election was to effect the election, would you have wanted it reported?
-
It was intercepted by a Su-25 Frogfoot. They're the Soviet version of the A-10. Not designed for air-to-air combat.
-
Its not like drone was designed for air to air either, in fact it should be nothing more than target practice with limited movablity.

Uh. Duh.
If I had to guess, the drone's evasive capabilities would just be some sort of ess-weave pattern. I imagine that there is some delay between the operator's input and the drone's action. Its lack of speed may have actually been to its advantage. The Su-25 can be outfitted with air-to-air missiles, but typically it's for a defensive role (ie. get a shot off if you have a chance). I would bet that the Su-25 made one pass with guns and that was it. If that's the case, the slow speed of the drone may actually be to its advantage. Furthermore, if you're the Iranian pilot, and you start buzzing our drones, you'd better expect that a few F/A-18's are going to be headed your way if you stick around for too long. So the pilot probably just took a pass, missed, and turned for home.

Shit man, do you work at Area 51 or something?
-
I cannot answer that.

Med student my ass

I was this close to going to the USAFA with the ultimate goal of becoming a fighter pilot. Luckily for me, I realized how big a problem I had with authority. That, compounded with the budget cuts for the F/A-22 and F-35 makes me think I played the numbers well.
-
God. They can't cut the numbers for those planes fast enough. What a boondoggle.

Common you guys, you know Michelle Malkin is hot. She even wakes up this old guy, lol.

Great. VApor now thinks he saved America by NOT being a fighter pilot,
and heckbunker leechboy doesn't know that the drone was ALWAYS
in INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE.
missing any AAA meetings, heckbunker?

Vapor its really not that bad. You might find you'd like it more than you think. I personally had more fun in tech school in the air force than anywhere. Keesler was fun. And the authority is really not all that oppressive
-
Cysko is right -
except for the story of my famous bike ride at Keesler AFB. Maybe Cysko heard the legend...@@ (eh... probably happened way too many years early for them
to keep telling the story....)
Now, basic at Lackland - that was tough authority....except I knew it was just a test...for weeks, and kept having to do pushups for grinning
at the TI like Gomer Pyle...

I couldn't help it ..... Reyes was really funny....
