I remember the sheriff dept deputy that one night - he said if he owned our beautiful woods, he'd
be out there making sure it wasn't a hunting ground, to protect the families who are our neighbors...
but he told me, respectfully, that he would never do it without a gun on him. Loaded. With more than one bullet...
the reason was, that if you ever run into a person on whatever drug(s) he mentioned, he said they don't act human,
they have no idea of right and wrong, and that they are like rabid animals - and very predatory and very dangerous.
They run into them on all sorts of occasions.
It's so odd, that some people who insist that the 2nd Amendment be eliminated, and that guns be taken away...
just as much insist that all illegal use drugs be legalized.

We didn't have these issues 30/40 yrs ago. Something in society has changed that cause or drive people to do these types of things. Is violence in video games and TV etc a possible cause or contributing factor. I think its possible that it could be. I don't think Cysko's argument is without merit. I like video games, I have played many of them over the yrs and watched violent movies too. Its possible if someone has some sort of weakness, be it emoitional, or mental etc could have issues that were say dormant in previous generations to do what people were exposed to back then. If you are going to find the root cause of these types of incidents you have to look at societal factors in my opinion, whats changed in the last 30/40 yr that lead to such things. And we have been exposed to more violence in video games and media. Not saying its the cause, but its certainly something worthy to consider.

many of the same degree of social skills dev. Church groups. Local friends having parties, across
neighborhood lines. Some wanted to play sports, so they went over to hs for the last two or three years.
They excelled.

Most other kids went to public schools.
MOST kids are home schooled because their parents are NOT happy with the safety and education
in their local public schools. Our one niece told us, who went to both, that the social pressures on kids, as well
as bullying, and the anti God, anti status quo maneuvering, made the benefits of activities not worth it.

Homeschooled kids are only weird if they don't get any social interaction. In my case my kids have both first and second cousins their same age and my wife and I have numerous friends with kids their age so I'm not hurting for playmates.
The problem with public schooling is unless you send your kids to school in a prison it will never be very safe. Also, not to be sexist, but many teachers are both A: extremely liberal and B: women, and the combination makes them poor protectors. Just saying. It's getting to the day and age you damn near need an armed marine or a blackwater mercenary on guard at all times. Sad, and troubling.
