if that was the jist of your post that DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS then i agree with you. sure i'm man enough to admit when i am wrong. and I WAS WRONG. my apologies.

the thing is at whatever time it was in the morning that i posted i didn't take the time to even read your post. and without trying to sound lika an ass, i still haven't read it. just be more on point with thread titles. long posts with stats are like funerals....i don't do 'em.

i know that's a double standard because when i go on a 6 paragraph drunken rant, i expect people to read them. but i can't blame them if they don't.

maybe it's your small batman avatar or the uniform thing that puts me off about you.....but that doesn't make you or i a bad person. as long as you're a browns fan, you're alright in my book.

again. my apologies. btw i do have a little wireless networked laptop. but i also have 2 quad core mac g5s running more graphics, music and video software/hardware then you'll ever set your eyes on. -peace.

You're daddy messed up when he forgot to pull out. Right mouth? What a stupid fuck you are, lmao.

    1 QUESTION??????????????????

Who won................... the team that scored MORE points...................or the team that gave up the fewest points???????????????????????

it's like the GREAT question............what came first.............the chicken or the egg????????????????

I would LIKE to be the team that gives up the less points. It is much easier to give up 10 points then it is to score 30 points.

  • If the Broncos played better DEFENSE...........they would have won

    see ya wrinkles!

btw. i love your sig quoting scripture. i'll guarantee you that you are the dumb motherfucker. you really think when you are laying is some ditch or even a grave (doubt it) with the worms eating through your 2" brain that saint peter or saint paul or saint billy bob (whoever the fuck your old hillbilly ass believes in), will be around to let you in the gates of your made up heaven, when you are a blasphemous fornicating foul-mouthed prune?

i love all you religious fucks that come on here and talk the biggest shit around spouting out FBomba and "your mother this" and "your mother that" and believe because you go to church for one hour on sunday you can act like a fucking demon the rest of the week and everything will be alright in the eyes of YOUR god. fucking lying fools.

I started a new thread on the fact that Some people think that Offense wins Super Bowls. Some people think that Defense was only important over 10 years ago, so I looked up all the Super Bowl winners since 2000, and stats are stats...First thou there atre 4 remaining teams in the Playoffs and tehre Defense rank is aw followed

    San Fran 3rd

    Balt 17th

    Atl 24th

    N.E. 25th

This is a odd year that there is only 1 team with a top 10 defense in the NFL, but they should go to the Super Bowl, and then they have a chance to keep the them since 2000 alive

Defense Rank for each Super Bowl Winner

    2011 Giants 27th

    2010 Packers 5th

    2009 Saints 25th

    2008 Steelers 1st

    2007 Giants 7th

    2006 Colts 21th

    2005 Steelers 4th

    2004 Pats 9th

    2003 Pats 7th

    2002 Bucs 1st

    2001 Pats 24th

    2000 Ravens 1st

So over the past 12 years,8 out of the 12 years a top 10 Defense has won the Super Bowl. 3 Number 1 Defenses won a Super Bowl as well, So even thou the NFL is much more pass happy league Defense still wins Championships. Now there are things that happen like last year when the G-Men got really really hot and there Defense played lights out during the playoffs, or 2009 when Drew Breez went Bonkers. For the most part it is and always be Defense that shows up more than Offense....

you forgot a few simple facts,,,,,,,the average winning score of the Super Bowl is 31 points so where the heck was that vaunted defense that got thrashed? Further if defense wins where has it been the last many super bowls? Offense wins chhampionships always has and you forgot to mention the offense of winning teams in the bowl, Defense wins championships is a worn useless defunct statement since 1949

btw, to follow your not so bright assessment the last time a shutout came in the NFL championship was by an offensive powerhouse known for rubber band defense in 1964

Ah this argument again. How many of those 31 points came off of turnovers or from a defense that forced the other team to punt deep in their own territory (great field position)? The vast majority of Super Bowl's include at least one pick six. It only takes a little bit of thought. I know you can do it..

LOL the small batman Avatar is because I am not smart enough on a Computer to put a pic there, let alone I have tried a 1000 times to put pics or videos on here and still cannot figure it out. Plus I have not put anything about our Uniforms on here in a while, but I am sure I will at some point over the next 6 months or so......I just really think we need a upgrade, I understand the tradition thing, but those are called throwback jerseys....I do agree with everyone about the helmet keept the helmet is fine, but upgrades are needed.....This would be a perfect time, new owner, new coach, new prez, new name staduim name, new offense, youngest team in the NFL...This would be the ideal time....

lame excuse giving the defense credit for the winner averaging 31 points a game over 46 years. If defense wins championships guess that applies only the winner of the bowl not the loser. If defense gets a team to the championship, they must lay down and lose big giving up a average of 31 by their vaunted defense that got them there

Like I said your excuse is lame ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,31 points says it all Offense wins Championships

The faster Cleveland gets away from the lame DAWG Pound nonsense and the lamer starts in OL trenches nonsense and the sooner they focus on playmakers who touch the ball, which I believe Haslem will do, the sooner they will end a twenty three year losing funk which coincides with the invention of the Dawg Pound

Well, I DO think the whole Dawg Pound thing needs to be put to rest. All it really is now is a marketing ploy put forth by guys in the PR department who are too lazy to come up with something original.

....though I don't think the use of it has anything to do with winning or losing....unless it can be claimed that the same lame dawg pound crap is simply indicative of bad management at all levels...on and off field.

  • I love the Dawg Pound stuff. It is original, and it came from the players and was perpetuated by the fans. We should embrace the Dawg Pound, the Elf ... all of it.

Well I think the better question is not how many points the winning team averaged but how many points the losing team averaged? If its say 28 pts or something then you might have a valid point. I suspect its not. And if offense wins championships why wouldn't you want a good OL? That seems contradictory to ignore half the offense players.

why mess with the dog pound? every team has some sort of identity take that away and we have?

would you rather have a cheese head?

  • I think its funny you have people on here who get all fired up over changing our Uniforms because its tradition...Blah, Blah, Blah..Then the same people want to get rid of the Dawgpound that has been around almost 30 years...uhh I think thats called tradition too!!?? I guess I can play that came too

I want gas prices from the 80s, and big fake titties from 2012....

    Only Browns fans....

I guess Oakland should get rid of the black hole, or the Steelers and there yellow towels..........

Please wake up it 2013, not 1983 change is great, hell if was 1983 you could not be a moron on a Computer, or have your cell phone, or even watch the Browns.....

I really could care less if we have a dawgpound or not, but stick with one side or the other PLZ

You might want to check the facts instead of making them up as you go.

The average winning Super Bowl score is 29.95 points while the average losing score is 15.61. However, that's only part of the story. You have to look at how the winning and losing teams scored those points. Kick returns and pick sixes certainly do not go towards the offense. Your biggest flaw in this argument is how you attribute all scoring plays to the offense 100% without looking at the actual facts.

Fun fact of the day: Teams with a pick six are 11-0 in the Super Bowl(source: http://www.journaltimes.com/html_5c506c39-ba66-521d-a45b-c36b80dfd402.html).

I am applying winning to the formula. If defense wins championships why do they not show in the Super Bowl???????????? DUH ANSWER AS TO WHY THEY DO NOT SHOW UP! Meanwhile the winning team has averaged 31 points keep make more lame excuses why defense wins championships. NO excuses tell us why they give up 31.....stick turnovers where the sun don't shine, if defense wins they overcome...........31 points says defense wins squat

I know but it's funny. It's like arguing with a 2 year old. I'm still curious to see where this mythical 31 points is coming from too. I guess we'll never know...

  • Well, you better tell Michael Lombardi that...he has no clue when it comes to drafting what a team needs. He said best QB in 2010 was Jimmy Clausen...he had us picking Derick Morgan and one of his favorite player is Tim Tebow. He has no clue...oh, and he said we should have gotten justin blackmon last year...so, no josh gordon but justin blackmon... of course many of you will agree with this quote

"McCoy has never looked like the long-term answer at quarterback from my vantage point of studying tape at NFL Films. He lacks power in his arm, willingness to make throws downs the field and ability to drive the ball into a tight pocket. He has the look of a backup quarterback who will play well in the right system for short stints, but have a hard time being the 'man.'"

so in recap Lombardi can see mediocrity but can't find talent
