    NO.

This team isn't good enough to take the chance,

this team has been built based on talent and character.

The latter qualification - this guy fails, and most likely,

could fail again in the pros.

    Nope.

In spite of his off-field issues, does his talent make him worthy of a selection? He could certainly contribute and I'm sure our locker room could handle him. Getting away from Louisiana will do him good too. Thoughts, opinions?

I probably wouldn't take him, and not because of his off the field problems.

He made a name for himself as being an undersized corner who could step up and hit you in the mouth, which is admirable and impressive but not something we necessarily need.

He plays the run quite well, but is a liability in coverage more often than he is a lockdown corner. Mathieu's bread and butter was stepping up on runs to the outside and getting his hat on the ball, thus forcing fumbles. His success in college had a good amount to do with the propensity of college OC's to diagram runs to the flanks. There's less of that displayed in the NFL, which would in turn mean less statistical production.

At 5' 9", he's smaller than your average corner and his coverage woes are only going to increase at the next level. He's alread yat a strict disadvantage based on his height (or lack thereof). Couple that with his overly aggressive style of play and you get a corner that not only gets beat on jump balls but also on double moves.

With that said, he is an electric player and those flaws are coach-able (excluding his physical stature). If he were available in the seventh, I'd say why not. I'd probably even take him in the sixth, depending on what was left. But I feel he'll be taken in the fifth by a team with "disposable" picks.

I couldn't care less about his off-the-field antics. I'll let the old fogeys poo-poo on him because the guy made a few mistakes. I'm a believer in redemption as well as a realist who knows that even the most admirable of people have skeletons in their respective closets. They can keep beating their chests with the Bible and quoting dated scriptures out of context...I'll be busy building a winning football team.

Yes. I would. Just look at Josh Gordon for example. Just because you smoke weed doesn't make you a bad person or a bad player. I'd take the chance. It will be legal someday anyway, might as well add a monster in the nickle package.

I'd take Milliner @ 6 and the "Honey Badger" in the third. Instantly turns our secondary into one of the youngest and best in the league for many many years.

And we win one more game a year than we would without them.

Having a young and talented secondary is useless if we have no pass rush or cover LBs.

With so many holes on defense, it would be ludicrous to take a #2 corner with our first round pick and then a questionable project player with our third round pick.

          I hope you were kidding

...or we can keep putting scarecrows across from Haden each and every year and lose every season like we have been... no use for a talented secondary? Get some FA for the Linebackers and bring in fresh legs in the secondary, it's the way to go. Gotta keep pace with those young fast WRs... just look at Sheldon Brown... I hope you were just kidding... 😉

We were 5-11 in 2009 before drafting Haden. We were 5-11 in 2010 after drafting Haden. Such a difference maker.

Ask Philly and the Jefs how bolstering only their secondary worked out.

No corner can cover a WR for more than 7 seconds. Darrelleion Revanders couldn't cover anyone for more than 7 seconds.

Im not saying we don't need secondary help, but addressing a #2 corner with the 6th pick is ridiculous, especially with the talent available at every-down positions.

If we pass up a guy like Jones, Mingo or Jordan for Milliner, it will be another blown pick by Lonbardi.

In spite of his off-field issues, does his talent make him worthy of a selection? He could certainly contribute and I'm sure our locker room could handle him. Getting away from Louisiana will do him good too. Thoughts, opinions?

If he is there in the 3rd I'd consider it. His ability to return kicks alone makes him a viable pick.

He is also a guy who might be able to jump to the other side of the ball and be a really exciting offensive option.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Early man walked away as modern man took control. Their minds weren't all the same and to conquer was their goal. So He built his great empires and he slaughtered his own kind, and he died a confused man and killed himself in his own mind...

He will be drafted.....maybe by the 3rd round. No way he goes 7 undrafted.

he will be drafted. the guy would have been a first rounder if he woulda played this year but he had to be stoopid and hang around with a bunch of dummies instead of seeing what was in front of him and concentrate on his future in the nfl.

i would definitely pick him in the third round, if he's still there. the guy single-handedly won that first LSU vs. BAMA matchup 2 years ago. fumble hits/recoveries for td's, kickoff return for td,.... at that time he was the only dude i had pinpointed to play across from haden.

now i'd be afraid he might infect haden with his immaturity considering haden aderol suspension last year.

i'd take him if there was something in his contract stating that we could cut him at any point if did anything detrimental to the team.

and to tcpo: one player does not make a team. sure we were 5-11 before and after we drafted haden but did we address any other key positions of need across and in front of him. i'll tell you what the percentages of passes thrown his way vs. the passes thrown to the other side or middle must be pretty lopsided. outside thomas, mack, taykor, sheard, DQ, TR the only other name on that list is haden. i think he's the best player on the team. just my opinion.

If we don't address the corner position with the 6th pick then I think it would be a steal to pick up the Honey Badger in the 3rd. He's an athlete who makes big plays... His style surprisingly reminds me of Joe Haden (very agile, lays out for the football, in the right position to make a play). I would like to see us somehow trade up and get another 3rd pick to get this guy, his value/output is to high for his draft position to be in the 3rd or later, even with the issues. Ideally I would like the Browns to have Haden, FA veteran, and the honey badger at the nickel. Gives you depth at CB and in time the potential for Honey Badger to be the starter opposite of Haden
