Brian Hoyer Is A Brown
-
i'll put him above lewis right now.
who knows playing for his home team might put a fire under his ass which will either make weeden step up or get run over.
-
Lombardi said two years ago that he believed that Hoyer was a starting QB.
-
wasn't there a bobby hoyer that played at OSU?

Lombardi said two years ago that he believed that Hoyer was a starting QB.
And in those two years since, two teams have disagreed with him.
Really makes me believe in Lombardi.
-
There are plenty of olinemen that run the 40 faster than Hoyer.
He ran a 5.02 out of college?
Eh, whatever. He doesn't bring any qb controversy with him - for Weeden or Campbell....@@

This signing has kind of over shadowed another signing that happened yesterday. B. Jackson was resigned to a one year deal. That means we have 7 RB on the roster right now. Makes me feel like our RB corps is going to be great after T. Richardson with the best sticking around.
Also does anyone have any idea of who was released in order to make these two signings?

Yes, let's not focus on adding quality in the defensive secondary, let's just keep adding billions of running backs. Idiotic.

I know there were four players released the other day.

Browns to Add Hoyer, Jackson
By Fred GreethamOBR Senior Browns ReporterPosted May 17, 2013
The Browns have added free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer and running back Brandon Jackson.
According to multiple reports, the Browns have added free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer and running back Brandon Jackson.
Hoyer was rumored to be among players that GM Mike Lombardi had an interest in during free agency but when he was tendered a second-round offer as a restricted free agent by the Cardinals, the Browns weren’t in the market as they did not have a second-round draft choice.
However, the Cardinals released Hoyer Monday and he agreed to a two-year contract with the Browns according to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM radio. The former Cleveland St. Ignatius quarterback and North Olmsted native played his college football atMichigan State. He signed with the Cardinals last season.
Hoyer (6-2, 215) was with the Patriots and has completed just 57 passes in four NFL seasons with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He was 30-of-53 for 330 yards last season with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Rob Chudzinski was asked specifically after Thursday’s practice if Hoyer might be added or if the Browns planned to go to training camp with Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell and Thaddeus Lewis as the team’s quarterbacks.
“I think all of that will remain to be seen,” Chudzinski said. “We are coaching these guys up right now. I feel good with this group with what they are doing and how they have progressed. We will just move along and keep going in the same direction. As you saw today Brandon was working with the first group. Jason (Campbell) has been working with the second group and Thaddeus (Lewis) has gotten reps with the third group. We will continue along that way, it’s just too early right now to be able to say anything. It wouldn’t be smart to name a starter and all those types of things that we have gone through before.”
Jackson was with the Browns the last two seasons and was an unrestricted free agent. He reportedly agreed to a one-year deal. Jackson was inactive for 13 games last season after missing his first season with the Browns after suffering a turf toe injury in the 2011 preseason.
Jackson (5-10, 216) is 27 years old and carried the ball eight times for 54 yards in two games. His longest run was a 25-yard run against the Steelers.
The Browns have not announced the signings as they will need to release two players to make room for Hoyer and Jackson.

I honestly think Hoyer signing is one move too much, adds too much confusion to our QB situation, should have just left it as it was, where as now prob have 3 QB with pretty much identical abilities. Even with Weeden as Starter getting all the reps, hate when too many questions asked when other QB's are hovering over like vultures waiting for scraps of failure with the starter. Though saying that liked Hoyers first ever TD in NFL when with Patriots very nice 50yd effortless toss for TD.

I think Hoyer is strictly competition for Thad, I don't see two those two having similar athletic abilities as Weeds and Camps who are big boys with big arms ... but apparantly Camps is looking Bigger and Better so far ...

Yeah was just reading that myself, and if honest I can quite easily see Campbell pushing ahead of Weeden come pre-season games. I am sure Chud and Co. wont be stubborn enough to keep going with Weeden if they are seeing Campbell as the obvious better QB to start for the Browns, So all good as far as I'm concerned think I'm having prob one the best feeling about an upcoming season as had in good few years.

Blows my mind this thread is 20 deep about a 4th string QB......Only Browns fans give a shit about a 4th string QB

When your 4th string Qb might be just as good as your 1st I think you always have to take some interest especially when its one of Lombardi's love child interests. But yes I know what your saying, It would be good to just have that QB that is head and shoulders better than the others rather than this 2nd guessing every year as to who might be starting come opening day.
-
He is going to push for the 2nd spot. Thad will be on the roster up until the end of preseason because they are going to want to block him from being signed to the Eagles roster.
-
The Browns were going to need at least 4 QBs on the roster in order to just get all the reps in with the WRs, RBs etc. on the 90 man roster. Even if they brought in an undrafted FA to be able to throw the ball. I guess they decided to actually acquire a guy that could possibly make the roster than just a camp fodder arm.
-
I can def. see a scenario in which Hoyer starts
