Super Bowl Selections
-
Tuesday the selections for the 2016 and 2017 Super Bowls will be made (for 2015 and 2016 NFL seasons). Favorite for #50 is San Francisco/Santa Clara, and for #51 is Houston. Between now and then the SBs will be in New Jersey/New York and Glendale AZ.

It would only be the 2d time the SF area hosted the SB. The first time it was held at Stanford's Stadium.

Having that Super Bowl in an outdoor stadium in New Jersey next Feburary is going to be a total disaster. What a stupid decision!

Maybe...or maybe they will get lucky and it will be like 55 degrees that day. Global Warming.

Nah, I want a super cold ice bowl game with lots of snow. It's probably the only chance there will be in my lifetime for a Super Bowl with horrendous conditions...and that will make it memorable.

All Super Bowls should be played outside in nice winter climates in NFL stadiums. They should rotate it between San Diego, Arizona, Tampa and Miami ... forget everybody else.

Amen to both of these..........although if it's too cold, thd NFL will probably airlift heat in from Miami

Right now the NFL is saying that the stadiums in both Miami and San Diego are not fit to host a Super Bowl. A proposal to put money into the renovations of the Miami Stadium have been turned down, so it may be some time before a SB goes back there.
San Diego's Jack Murphy Stadium....or whatever it is called, has been subpar for some time now....so it ain't gettin' any.
They won't go to a non-NFL city, so no LA or like San Antonio.
So, what stadiums are any good?:
The new Santa Clara stadium
The dome in Phoenix area
The Jerry Dome in Dallas
The Texans stadium
The Superdome (renovated after Katrina)
I think they hate Jacksonville and never want to go there again.
I don't know what they think about Tampa's Stadium....I would think it would be good.
Not sure about the Georgia Dome. It is not that old, can it be that bad?
I agree that nothing up north in the cold should be considered...even domes like in St. Louis, Indy etc.

Why are cold weather stadiums unpopular with Northerners? Do you regularly attend Super Bowls? Do you just hate hearing all the wimpy reporters/broadcasters complain about cold weather? Just because college rewards unpaid athletes with a warm weather bowl game, doesn't mean the highly paid NFL players need a similiar incentive. Football isn't a summer sport. Frankly, I think the NFL should rotate the Super Bowl between all team cities (provided those stadiums meet the NFL's revenue generating requirements). Actually I don't care about the revenue generation, but that's how the NFL selects stadiums.
An outdoor warm weather stadium doesn't garauntee nice weather conditions...

It's an event, drawing hundreds of thousands of consumers and sponsors. Makes no sense having it in a cold weather city in Winter. Why not maximize your audience? Why not make the media happy? Why not have it someplace fun and warm? It's your signature event.
Joe Namath guaranteed a Super Bowl victory while holding court around the hotel pool in Miami. Story doesn't have the same flair in a mall in Paramus.
Fly everybody to Florida, California or Arizona. Have the football game outside. Have the media set up their tables outside with Palm trees behind them. Make it a fun getaway for the fans that pay the outrageous price to go.
If the Browns make the Super Bowl I don't want to fly to Minnesota in February, that's just ridiculous.
Quit freezing everybody's ass off when you don't have to. Make it warm, make it fun.

yeah, what happens if there is a big snowstorm! Wouldn't it be something if the game gets cancelled due to bad weather conditions. The negative PR for the NFl would truly snowball...

Becaue the NFL really wants to be "cool," the plan for the next SB is to have the players introduced one by one riding dog sleds pulled by huskies (no, not Washington Huskies) around the stadium. I imagine that if the weather is cold, the fans will be drunker than usual, and half of them will arrested leaving the game as they fail breath tests conducted by hundreds of NJ State Police looking for the opportunity to add to the budget coiffers of Governor Chris Christie.

Its Qualcomm stadium in San Diego and it's a dump and has no shot at ever hosting another super bowl.
I think Indy has a real shot at another super bowl. From all reports the city did a fantastic job and the stadium is right downtown and there are a ton of hotels all within walking distance. The city also has plenty of experience in handling large crowds for single day sporting events, (Indy 500, Nascar Brickyard 400).

I've been at QualComm stadium and you are right -- it is a dump! Terrible stadium.

I will call it Qualcomm when Qualcomm pays me to call it Qualcomm.
