hell if i had millions i wouldn't even go out. i'd have the party at my house, invitation only, security guards deep.
just DUMB moves by these guys.
sure he shouldn't have to worry about such things but in today's society you do, even if you don't have millions of dollars. from what tomlin said he was on the 'south' side (i guess that's equiv to cleveland's east side) which means you shouldn't be there unless you are looking for drugs, prostitutes or going to some ghetto-ass club.

i feel bad for the guy BUT he probably did bring it on himself. as jrb noted a lot of these guys get paid and can't help but show it off. i.e. pac man jones making it rain. plaxicco packin heat like a gangsta. it's the 'non-white' mentality (can i get away with this one at least? geez.....). big ben raping girlz in the bathrooms.

Even though he plays for the Steelers this is unfortunate. I hate to say it, but a lot of these things are usually bad people players associate themselves with. Top that off with the fact he was playing with injuries all last year and this might seriously hurt his career.
Mike Adams wasn't showing anything off. He apparently didn't even have his keys but was just outside standing by his truck. I'm guessing maybe using the phone or something. A eye witness reported seeing 4 guys approach him and held him at gun point. He wasn't doing anything wrong. It was a group of hood rats trying to rob a guy. I'm not sure why you'd pick a 6'7 dude tho. I'd also love to know how this is going to effect his career. He's supposed to be ready for training camp. He's also in great shape Mik from what I've seen and red.

That literally doesn't disprove anything I said in the slightest. I'm not saying he did or didn't or he deserved it, but a lot of guys in the NFL white or black have a way of flashing their riches in clubs or restaurants. Well the South Side of Pittsburgh isn't the ghetto. There is VERY limited street parking so it's not like you can post up in front of a bar and "flash' your riches and this didn't happen because he was flaunting anything. Lately there has been some sh.it drumming up in the South Side and the police have ramped up their efforts as a direct result. It's just a really crap circumstance. Now I agree with your assessment otherwise, but it doesn't apply to Mike Adams. The guy has been nothing but humble, especially with the Steelers taking a chance on him and making him meet certain requirements to stay on their draft board. He's been on the straight and narrow since getting drafted. Just a really unfortunate situation, thankfully he's going to be okay...football or not.

Mik that's stupid. People are social animals. Rich, poor, whatever. I sure as hell wouldn't live like a damn hermit with a bunch of security and you fellas are Pittsburgh clueless. The Southside is NOT a bad area. There are a TON of bars but it's a well developed, heavily frequented area by all age groups. However at night because of the massive amount of bars, over 100 trouble can stir up. It's no where CLOSE to the east side of Cleveland. I've also never seen a prostitute down there lol. Stop trying to assume what went down and do some research on the area. Geez fellas.

If he knew the people who did it, they would be in jail, not trying to trail one of them down by using the cell phone they recovered from the scene. Oh an he flat out said he didn't reconize who they were. You know people can get robbed and stabbed and NOT know who their attackers were, even football players.

Or they don't. 95% of thefts are crimes of opertunity. Theifs always go for the easy money when they decide to steal. Are they going to break into an equally nice car down the streat when they don't have the keys or are they going to jump the guy standing outside of he's vehicle? Money has nothing to do with it.

1. they have prudent people watching over them that will advise them against putting themselves 'out there' and if the star decided to do so anyway would flock him like a goose landing.
2. the biggest stars know that every move they make will be caught on camera by someone somewhere and be posted all over the web in seconds that something happens.
3. sure you don't have to have money to get jacked but that's why you stay away from 'jackville'.

When the bars let out there is the occasional riff raff, but it's a nice area. Hell there are a lot of university students living there as well. I'm still trying to figure out why the hell you'd try and rob a 6 foot 7 dude, even with 4 people. Either way he was fortunate to not be seriously injured.

I agree and the one guy did have a gun. He held Adams at gun point, i just don't think even with a gun I'd roll up on a dude that's 6 foot 7 and pretty clearly a professional athlete aka not just 6'7 but fvcking huge. The guy they arrested looks like a drug head so with that in mind druggies in need of a fix don't give a damn about sh.it else.

I feel like a broken record here but I'll try one more time. I'm not saying he was doing a damn thing at his car. I'm not saying he did or did not do anything to deserve it. I'm not saying he made it rain in a strip club and bought out the place. I'm not saying these guys were friends or actually knew each other. Hell, I'm not even saying I'm right or wrong. I'm saying a good amount of the time these pro athletes carry a lot of cash with them and order really nice stuff at local bars or restaurants, and people notice it even if it's not 'flashy'. It's the same reason they tell anyone to not carry around wads of cash or fancy jewelry, but pro athletes do.
Bottom line: Calm down, I liked Mike Adams at OSU and hope he recovers. I just will be interested to hear if they saw him in such a manner or if it was a crime of opportunity.

I think Adams will be fine from all reports. So, that is good. But it won't help him from being a not very good OT.

AND the only reason i pointed out the 'south' side of pitt was because coach tomlin spoke upon it in his interview when asked upon it.

Bag is right in that the south side is THE bar neighborhood of Pitt....just been going to hell as of late for various reasons. Lots of shit to do.....I liked the bottle shops and dive bars there, chupkas, smokin joes, fatheads. But shit happens early morning when 20 blocks of bar drunks hit the streets. It is known as a crime of opportunity city area as a result. Violent crimes are actually down, petty thefts and assaults are way up. Not sure about Adams specifically, but I've seen some crazy shit go on in the south side.
