I'm excited that it marks the beginning of a new era.
The Cleveland browns franchise is still 73 games over .500 despite all the shit we have been shovelled since '95, that's how great this franchise was and this is the year we FINALLY begin to restore the glory.
Fuck Modell, fuck the Lerners, the Browns are back this year. This will be a solid team that wins 7 or more games and next year we become perennial contenders again.

there's enough injuries in practice and 'preseason' (the shit that doesn't count in the end) that this whole nonsense needs to stop. if coaches can't get their players ready by busting their ass in practice, then they'll go out and get shellacked until they either step up or continue to get their asses kicked.
you don't see it in high school or college do you? just another way of the NFL to make money.

big time college programs do it by scheduling ridiculously easy opponents in the first two or three weeks of the season. Their preseason usually ends around the end of September.
I suspect the NFL has lobbied to trim the preseason to two games and extend the regular season with an eye on increasing their revenues by approx. 15%/season. Players union not onboard.....instead opting to protect the longevity of its members.

Just reading Twitter that Trent Richardson and T.J. Ward won't play tomorrow against the Rams. I'm not going to link all the people who said but I believe it's come straight from the horse's mouth. Dion Lewis is getting the nod at RB, haven't seen who will replace Ward. I'm looking forward to seeing what Lewis does with the first teamers though.

There is no real uper echalon talent on this team. We don't really have anyone, save Joe Thomas (who still was a dumb pick and should have been traded to move up a few years ago). who would start for any of teh 2013 playoff teams. Weeden is going to get creamed.

Imagine that: a fan being optimistic about his team's chances before one down has been played. Excuse us all for being human.
Beyond that:
A. I don't know that anyone is claiming that this team has corrected all its ills in one fell swoop. Many do believe that incremental improvements have been made.
B. If you don't think the likes of Paul Kruger/Mingo/Groves isn't a talent improvement over Kaluka Maiava, Scott Fujita, Chris Gocong, then those who evaluate talent professionally would call you an idjit.
C. If you don't think the Greg Little and Josh Gordon are not an improvement over Mohammed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie, then those who evaluate talent would call you an idjit.
Now, whether or not there is real "upper echelon" talent on this team....beyond JT and Joe Haden.....admittedly remains to be seen. Yes, that is where that optimism comes in.
But one thing I think is fair to say: The talent on the Ravens and the Steelers appears to be diminished compared to last year for the Rats, and the previous few years for the Squibs. Have the Browns closed that gap: I say, yes, to some extent. At least that gap is narrowed, whether or not it is closed.

These six guys would easily start on ANY team. They are the foundation of our young team. Here's to hoping guys like Weeden, Gordon, Cameron, Little, DBryant, Kruger, Mingo, and Ward step up and lead this team to more wins than losses. That's the hope. That's the goal...
