TRICH traded to colts
-
You guys will be fine without Richardson. Holmgren is and was past his prime like 7 years ago. The Colts are not a dynamic team even with Luck. They go 9-7 at best this year. But my prediction for the colts is more 7-9.
The biggest reason the Colts were so successful in the 2000's was because of a man named Bill Polian. Who also so happened to be the bills GM when the Bills went to four straight superbowls in the 90's. Jim Irsay and his staff are bumbling bafoons and they go after whatever player is "Extremely Hyped".
The only thing I think holding you guys back at this point in time is having Lambardi in your FO. He hurt the Raiders big time when he was with them. And the fans still hate him for it.

Here's Banner's response to Holmgren's reaction.
Joe Banner responds to Mike Holmgren's commentsFormer Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren told a radio station he'd have quit if told the team he coached had traded away Trent Richardson. It's only fitting then that current Browns CEO, Joe Banner, offered his rebuttal Friday via radio waves.

» Banner, Chudzinski explain trade
» Why did Browns do this deal?"Mike's entitled to his opinion," Banner told ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike", per The Plain Dealer. "He ran the team for three years and was able to do what he believed in. It's our turn trying to do what we think is right. Obviously wouldn't have done this if we agreed with his comments."
During his rant, Holmgren intimated that it was possible first-year coach Rob Chudzinski didn't stand up to Banner and fight to keep his best offensive player. Banner emphasized Friday that the Browns coach very much was part of the "collaborative decision" to make the trade.
"I think the most important thing for me to say is we don't do anything with Chud not right in the middle of every discussion, every evaluation,"' Banner said. "Every single time I got off the phone with (Indianapolis Colts general manager) Ryan Grigson I went down, reported to him where we're at. He's a very strong believer in where we're at and where we're headed and how this is going to help us."
Now that the front office men are done (hopefully) prodding each other, Chudzinski is left to deal with the most difficult repercussion of the trade:
Convince an entire locker room to fight for 14 more games when the bosses upstairs already started working on 2014.

The trade will be bad for the Browns. I was listening to NFL radio and basically D'qwell, and Joe Thomas are upset about this trade. THey are both leaders on the team and you know the locker room is a buzz about it. TRich was well liked and players respected him for playing hurt. Another thing is Dmitiri Patterson has been saying he was cut not because of his play but because he was telling Browns players not to trust Banner. That Banner was a snake. What do you think players are thinking of Banner now? If a Free Agent wants to sign with the Browns you don't think they'll talk to players on the team? Or former Players?
Now as far as TRich's play is concerned, its comparable to other rookie rb's who had good careers. You can't judge a player on 18 gms. Especially a rb. Lets look at some numbers of other backs in first 18gms.
First TRich's numbers
Last year 267 att 950yrds 3.6ypc 11tds 51 rec 367yrds 1td
Emmit Smith
1990
241att 937yrds 3.9ypc 11td 24rec 228yrds 0tds1991 led NFL in rushing
Rickey WIlliams
1999
253att 884yrds 3.5ypc 2tds 28rec 172yrds 0tds2000 first 2 games: 44att 134yrds 3.04ypc 0tds
YPC for a HOF RB his first 3 season 4.1, 3.7, 3.0
That RB was Marshal Faulk
LaDamian Thomilson averaged less than 4.0 ypc in 5 seasons (no they werent all at the end of his career)
Jerome Bettis avg 3.9ypc for his career in 13 seasons he only went over 4.0ypc 4 times and he's a HOF
Walter Payton 1975
196att 679yrds 7tds 33rec 213yrds 0tdsfirst game of 1976 25att 70 yrds 2.8ypc
So you can't call Trich a bust. You can't judge him on 18 gms. You fit the system to the players not the other way around. TRich was making 2-3mill a yr so he wasn't hurting the bottom line. As far as not being versatile look at his receptions last year he had 51, look at the other rb's listed he had more receptions than any of them as a rookie except faulk had 52. Thomilson, Emmitt, and Rickey Williams all played under Turner before and Smith, and Williams running styles were similar to Trents. This trade was about Lombardi's and Banners ego. So without knowing how TRich will turn out and the trade causing strife with the players they made this trade. This will come back and bite the Browns.

Thanks for writing this out... this is exactly how I feel.

Considering RG3 went for 2012, 2013 & 2014 first round picks plus 2012 second round pick the trading your whole draft for Luck seems like a weak offer.
True... I'd forgotten how steep a price they paid for the #2 overall.
Wow is Washington royally fucked.

Agree he was not a "bum"... but how some think our win total this season dropped when he was traded mystifies me.

Our win total drops for the foreseeable future. Trent was our strongest weapon. Our Strongest.
What doesn't everyone get. He is a vessel... a damn fine specimen, used however the situation presents itself, a rare talent.
If this FO doesn't recognize Potential RIGHT IN FRONT OF THERE FACE how can I trust them to draft it a year from now...?
-
We have a RB. Dion Lewis will be a true NFL caliber RB next year.....Mark it down. And by "NFL caliber", I don't mean Trent and his 62yds per game.
Pittsburgh, the Ravens and Cincy all stated that their main concern was stopping Richardson. He made them uneasy. He's a playmaker, a weapon. They are glad he's gone... that is all.
-
What exactly did YOU see in the 17 games Trent played for us that makes YOU think that "He is a vessel... a damn fine specimen, used however the situation presents itself, a rare talent." Was is the 3yds per carry? Was it the unbelievably awful 62yds per game? Was it him being taken off the field on every single 3rd down because he can't block? Was it him constantly being injured? Tell me, what did YOU see? NOT what have you been told by the draft pundits on just how great he is. NOT from the fact that a desperate FO over reached for both Trent and Weeden in the draft, and NOT because of the picture of Trent wearing nothing but a jock strap that hangs over your bed.
Again, tell me what YOU saw in 17 games, and what I seemed to have missed in those 17 games.

I also believe they never planned to let Weeden start this year. The plan was to let Hoyer start all along. Two things can happen. Hoyer plays good and they decide they dont need to draft a franchise qb next year. Which makes the TRich trade pointless, or Hoyer is bad and they have to backtrack and name Weeden the starter again.

see, that's my next question.
it's been all over espn that weeden's thumb injury is nothing more than a bruise, so what happens next sunday (TAILGATE BLOWOUT!!) vs. the bengals at home?
if THEY don't give weeden the nod then we know he's gone, which goes against everything banner said yesterday quote "who's to know we don't have our franchise QB on our roster now?" which sounded to me like he was going to give every chance to weeden to prove himself this year. i mean if hoyer can't beat out campbell or weeden then why start him for the rest of the year?
in which there is a simple answer. if we don't see weeden start vs. the bengals then you know the FO has him on the chopping block. plain and simple.
this is almost unprecedented in NFL history (gipper?) that the purging of a previous FO system and picks will have been traded, dumped and fucked within the first quarter of an NFL season.
either they really 'think' they know what they're doing (lordy pleez) or they will come out looking like holmgren just shat his krispy kremes all over their faces with that brown fudge feces.
it's tricky. it's tricky tricky tricky.

You are obviously stupid if you think I'm a troll.
You choose to listen to Mel Fuckin Kiper tell you how great he is, but when one of the greatest RBs to EVER play the game, and who just happens to be a Cleveland Brown, calls him "ordinary", and "nothing special" you suddenly choose not to listen.
You say that Trent didn't have a lot of holes to run through because defenses always keyed on him with 8-9 man fronts as the excuse for his PATHETIC 3.1yds per carry and 62yds per game averages over 17 games.......Well what about fucking Maurice Jones Drew???? He had the EXACT same issue and consistently averaged close to 5yds per carry and was always in the top 5 of the NFL in total rushing yds.
Oh I'm sure you'll come up with some panzy excuse like calling me a troll, or blaming the wind or the grass, but those are facts I gave you and you can't hide from facts under your Trent Fat Head poster.
-
Yea, I'm sure they are all shaking in their cleats.....LOL dude you are something.
well if you have listened to a couple of pro bowlers (you know.....winners) and their analysis of the trade, what PoG said is exactly correct.
out of the four teams in the division who had the best running back to be great for years to come (no ray rice will be gone in 2 years)?
exactly. easy enough for everybody?
when he rushes for more than a 1k a year with the colts you can all eat shit.
now i'm not saying i love TR BUT i think if anyone made out on the deal it's the colts. i'd put my money on irsay anyday over banner and lombardi.
sitting behind banner and lombardi and the roulette table and following their lead will make you choke on an olive every bet.
bet.
-
They are trying to fix the problem created by the previous FO. Trent was over drafted at 3 and so was Weeden. They are trying to cut their losses, and if after watching Trent run for us for 17 games and you came away impressed, then I guess we have two entirely different definitions of an elite NFL RB.
-

After finding that Blocking analysis I linked, I want to see how McGahee does.
Hate to say it, but with Gordon, Luavao, and Rubin back and Hoyer at QB, I'm starting to think we win this Sunday.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE FUCKING HILARIOUS! (well maybe....ponder>hoyer or hoyer>ponder? that is the ? that will be answered this sunday). my concern is that everyone in the locker room after hearing the news has just given up and are basically gonna fist fuck banner and lombardi the rest of the season.
and dickbone why do you still have to pound the kid? i hope he goes on to become a probowler and rushe for over 1k a year, that way all you fat fucking holmgren lovers who now turned on him can go spin around in circles cuz you don't know which way is up.
hopefully things work out for the browns. but like i said in another thread: betting on banner and lombardi is like betting on the crippled 3 legged longshot at the kentucky derby.

I just heard that press conference with Chud.... he says that he was in all the talks... didn't they say that the first conversation was like the DAY before. Ugh..
I really hope Chudzinski is a liar and a coward, as opposed to a dimwit unable to see the skills of Richardson... as bad as that sounds... and God, that sounds baaad.

-
No, they still have their QB,... We'll have blown just as much if not more before it's through and We'll still need a QB and a RB.
You actually think RG3 is the same QB that played last year? Damaged goods my friend...

You start Hoyer against Cinci unless he plays as bad as Weeden did in our 2012 opener. With two starts a piece and Wheezy fully rested and healed then you see who has earned the job.
There's no reason to stick with Hoyer. Only a quantum leap in Wheezy's performance is going to yield anything market value-wise... and that can only happen if he plays.

Yes, but what Banner said was that Chud was kept apprised of the talks and was involved in the decision.
Is there a problem I don't see???

Yes Po... we get it. Only you could see the true value of a RB who missed holes Mr. Magoo could see...
Find a new drum... please..
