He is better than mike wallace. Compare their stats so far this season, wallace is a one trick pony getting paid 70 million.

I would expect him to have better numbers based on opportunities to catch the ball, just on the fact he has a better QB throwing him the ball wich, is not exactly rocket science there....As far as who distributes the ball. I'm sure Tannehil will progress..It's like comparing an ant to an elephant.

It's not like comparing an ant to an elephant. Mike Wallace has never been a great route runner. He's not good in traffic and his hands are not in the elite category. Now by saying that I'm not saying that Antonio Brown has elite hands BUT what he does do is run terrific routes, he's very strong in traffic and he's very elusive. He's also not to shabby in the speed department. Wallace on the other hand is other worldly fast and that's why he got paid to play in Miami. I don't care who is throwing to either receiver. Brown is better all around and honestly it's not something many people would argue. Ben on the other hand has been off this year, granted he's running for his life due to injuries on the offensive line and growing pains but even when he's had time back there his throws have been questionable at times. It's probably time you stop acting like you know a damn thing about anything outside Cleveland sports and even then I'd question your know how.

As far as the rest of the thread is concerned Ryan Clark is done, hell i think he's already acknowledging his departure by piping up on just about every NFL issue possible (A major annoyance for me and other Pittsburgh sports fans) grooming himself for the booth. Ziggy Hood is a monumentus flop and Steve McClendon is better suited at defensive end. Heyward is about the only truly bright spot on the defensive line as he's really coming in to his own. Ultimately our defensive line isn't getting pressure, Jarvis Jones was thrown in a little soon which is why he was pulled back and Worilds just isn't a starter in the NFL. Woodely has also been hit or miss. Right now the defense is the problem in Pittsburgh and the offensive line is consistently injured or underperforming. All of which translates to more losses than wins. The silver lining in all of this is the shot at a top 10, possibly top 5 draft pick and that may be all that's needed to right hte ship. In addition to a few free agents. Bottom line my Steelers are done this year, but they sure as hell aren't done long term so you all can cut that parade route short. Enjoy the dismal season for the black and GOLD and hope you can win the two games this season.

Like Morgan Freeman said in Ironman- "Steelers don't sign Free Agents, haven't you got the news?"

I posted elsewhere V- you just named a laundry list of holes you have to fill- and you're going to do that magically in one off season? With a hell of a lot of luck, make that 2 see ya in about 2016, if you hit on all your picks- BTW Ben will be 34 and beat to a pulp by then, so wouldn't be surprised if you're in the QB market too. Bubby Brister and Kordell Stewart ring any bells?

Saw on PPG your fans aren't taking kindly to Tomlin's handling of his first taste of real adversity. Seriously- suck for another 12 years and your entitled fans (if there's any left) will know what we've been through.

Oh I was going to rag on your wrs but I decided not to- they're having decent years- not going to trade you Gordon for either of them right now. LOL a few years back I said there were maybe 2 Browns that could start on the Steelers- well at least on D it's the other way around now. We have DL backups that would be starting for you- and don't even start on what the Browns secondary looks like compared to yours. Joe Haden is heading to the Pro Bowl, Ward may make it as a backup, Skrine has come on in his third year, and Gipson is a solid S. Might give you the edge at a couple LB positions. Enjoy the basement- that's where you were for about 30 years before 1970.

  • This Mike Wallace/Antonio Brown argument sounds a lot like the arguments people used to have sticking up for any Browns receiver for the past ten years.

"But...but...but he runs excellent routes. And his QB is just not good. And he has potential."

He's still undersized. He's 5'10 and runs a 4.5 40. He's not going to compete for jump balls with bigger corners and he's not blazing past coverages into the second level. He just isn't, no matter how perfect his routes may be.

Getting rid of Wallace was a good move, I don't deny it. He's a diva with consistency problems. But he also was an athletic freak. You needed, and still do need, someone to replace him. That someone isn't Brown.

Brown is not a #1. He's a great #2. He's a receiver who, like you said, will run crisp routes and sit in soft spots in zone. He'll benefit from playing against lesser corners and not being the focal point of the offense.

Look at what having Gordon has done for our offense. Little and Bess have looked like legitimate WR's, when we have had a QB who can recognize open players.

The Steelers need a #1, and there's a couple in this draft. Personally, I hope you don't get one...but I believe you will.

  • "Whats wrong with shittsburg?" I'll tell you whats wrong, WHO CARES!

I won't argue with you. That said, overall, the Steeler WR corps is highly diminished without Wallace there as a threat.

Oh, yea, your typical line: no Cleveland Browns fan knows anything at all about the rest of the league. Maybe we don't....we just all know more than you know.

So, I guess your motto really is "play like Clowns for Clowney".

Heyward is about the only truly bright spot on the defensive line as he's really coming in to his own.

Yes, he has elevated his play from terrible to simply below average.

Ultimately our defensive line isn't getting pressure, Jarvis Jones was thrown in a little soon which is why he was pulled back and Worilds just isn't a starter in the NFL. Woodely has also been hit or miss.

One of the reasons we here haven't seen much of Pittsburgh play is that they always put their games on against when the Browns play....even when they shouldn't. Like this past week. Why did they both have to be put on at 4:25? So, for that reason, not having really seen the Steelers play, it is surprising that you say the Woodley hasn't played well. I guess no matter how good a player is, he can still only be as good as the talent surrounding him.

Right now the defense is the problem in Pittsburgh and the offensive line is consistently injured or underperforming. All of which translates to more losses than wins. Maybe you can do something right by beating Baltimore when you play them. The Last Place Bowl....appropriate.

Ward was graded out as being the Top SS in the AFC...and second in the NFL...so he should/could be starting in the Pro Bowl next to Haden....who handled both AJ Green and Megatron pretty well when they played.

Skrine has come on in his third year, and Gipson is a solid S.

    Its Gipson. Get it right.

You cant comphrehend well..When I spoke of comparing an ant to an Elephant..I meant Tanehill/Roethlisberger. But your hard on for Antonio Brown got in the way..Mike Wallace ,yes has issues. But he has speed and he's not complete garbage. He would actually help your team right now. How much, remains to be seen (if he was there). Antonio Brown doesnt scare anybody so quit over valuing his effectiveness. I think the rest of the gallery here, made very salient points.

I didn't run a laundry list of holes. They drafted Shark Thomas to replace Clark. McClendon can bump over to defensive end after Keisel hangs them up and we'd need a nose tackle. We're young across all 4 linebacker positions and well above average at two in Timmons and Woodley (Jarvis Jones is obviously still a rook so the verdict is very much still out) My previous shot at Woodley was undeserved as he's been very good this season BUT McClendon isn't getting it done up the middle so Woodely isn't getting as much action as he deserves on the outside because the middle of our d-line is getting gashed. I just read an article today about he's graded out to the second most effective OLB in the NFL this season. Hoorta you should also have plenty of depth with the ridiculous number of top 10 draft picks the Browns have had over the last 10 years, while the steelers routinely draft at the back half of the draft. As far as our secondary is concerned Ryan Clark is done and Lebeau has been using Polamalu as a gloriified linebacker most of the year. I don't want ot hear about skrine or gipson as neither are setting the world on fire and prior to this most recent win most of you were ready to run half your team out of town. It's funny how a win changes everything (it's no different in Pittsburgh). As far as the "popular opinion" on Tomlin is concerned it's ridiculous. People aren't used to the Steelers looking as crappy as they have this season so a lot of the chicken little morons are coming out of the woodwork calling for heads that don't deserve to be named. The knowledgable public opinion is that Tomlin had Haley forced on him and that it's likely time for Dick to hang them up and the heir apparent to be brought to the forefront. However one question remains and that's is it going to be Butler or a 4-3 guy which is Tomlin's preferred scheme.

Now for Nickers. I at no point in our little back and forth mentioned Ben and Tannehill, you did. The comparison being discussed was Brown and Wallace, so it's you that can't comprehend or stay on task. I don't care who is throwing either receiver the ball. Brown is a better WR, it's the reason he was paid and Wallace wasn't, it's the reason he's moving the chains at a much greater rate and you're a damn idiot to think teams don't fear Brown. He's still a maturing in his role as a number 1. I expect him to continue to improve and he's already on a nice pace.

Gipper, I said Nickers doesn't know WTF he's talking about, at no point did I suggest all Browns fans don't. Heyward is also playing well above the line, PFT has graded him out very high the last few games.

Either way I'll come back when you guys lose again to experience yet another 180 in regards to board popular opinion.

Because you would need a scroll?

I thought he was a SS...there to replace Polamalu

My point to you exactly...that just because you have a top pick doesn't automatically mean it is going to work out....the Steeler CAN blow a top ten pick as easily as the Browns have done so many times....and as easily as they have blow their own picks in other rounds many times.

Actually, both Skrine and Gipson are playing quite well...better even than expected. By why should you know that. You don't know anything about the NFL outside of your own team.

Welcome to the world of the basement in the division.

Yes, you can bring in Mark Malone to replace Terry Bradshaw and not miss a beat.

Now for Nickers. I at no point in our little back and forth mentioned Ben and Tannehill, you did. I think they respect him fine...but no, I don't think teams fear Brown.

Joe Haden so far has had to play against AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Torrey Smith, and others, including Mike Wallace....and contained him all. He is not shaking in his boots at the prospect of handling Antonio Brown.

Gipper, I said Nickers doesn't know WTF he's talking about, at no point did I suggest all Browns fans don't. Heyward is also playing well above the line, PFT has graded him out very high the last few games.

PFT....is the perfect acronym for that comment.

Either way I'll come back when you guys lose again to experience yet another 180 in regards to board popular opinion.

Lose again? This team is 4-5. It lost 3 games before winning this last one. We are hopeful, but certainly not on any high horse. But our team is on a horse at least. Yours is like riding one of those Vietnamese pigs.

  • I don't know why anyone gives a shit what is wrong with Pittsburgh? Be happy. They suck.

  • @nickers said:

There is nothing bandwagon with Pittsburgh sports fans. We aren't used to the Steelers losing that's for sure but the team is still stocked with young talent and that's a fact. As I said previously in this thread enjoy it while it lasts because I don't expect it to last long.

Nickers I never once compared Brown to AJ Green and I guess we'll find out how Brown fairs against haden in the not so distant future. As it currently stands I'm not to worried about any of it, i wouldn't mind if they lost the rest of their games because getting a shot at an elite talent in the first round will pay dividends. I'll swing back in when you boys lose another one so I can read about yet another meltdown.

  • The problem with the Steelers if their recent drafts have been putrid. They can't replace the old guys because the young guys they draft suck. They have no easy fix, I suspect they will have several years of suckiness to come for a change. And really Tomlin does suck, Lebeau and Arians did everything for him. They pushed out Arians and the offense has gotten worse, the sucked with draft picks and not he defense's age is becoming too much to overcome. Tomlin is confused on how to fix the problem. He was never a great coach to begin with, he was just put in a great situation. Now that he has adversity he is thoroughly perplexed on how to fix the problem. We should know, we have had many a coach do the samething.

  • Keep feeding the Steeler trolls dumbasses.

Nothing bandwagon? Har har. Pirates couldn't draw squat until they started winning. Though Heinz and Three Rivers have been "theoretically" sold out forever- I've seen games where there were plenty of empty seats masquerading as fans. I still have the DVD of the the Browns 1989 blowout of the Steelers- and I can guarantee you the stadium was empty by halftime.

Hate to tell you the Browns are even more stocked with young talent, (for that matter so are the Bengals). Browns really only have one guy on the roster over 30, Jackson- Weeden is as good as gone. We have 10 picks next year including 5 in the first three rounds- as opposed to your two. Sorry- you're just wishing and hoping the future repeats the past- and that's not necessarily always the case.

Yeah- if you continue to suck and finish 4-12 or so that will unfortunately (from a Browns perspective) get you Clowney or a stud LT- but either of those aren't going to sprinkle magic pixie dust over the Steelers and instantly turn them back into a powerhouse.

Remains to be seen what will happen with Tomlin too- seems like he's having a meltdown as your season has gone down the drain.

The Pirates still had a fair amount of people going to their games considering the product they put on the field for the better part of two decades. I was 10 years old last time they had a winning season prior to this season. They'd get a good player and they'd trade him away. There was almost no reason to go to the games other than to enjoy the beautiful ball park OR if you were a baseball purist. Using the Pirates as an example for "why Pittsburgh is bandwagon" is ridiculous. I'd love to see the Indians after a similar stretch (Professional football is a TOTALLY different animal when it comes to ticket sales than the MLB so don't try and compare the Pirates to the Browns) Three Rivers was always full before Bonds and Co. left town and the same was always true for the Steelers. Either way the minute the Pirates showed a glimmer of hope that park was always full and that was before this season. Management displayed they were investing in the team for the long haul and it's paid off and that's all it was going to take to get people back in to Pirate baseball. It's one of the more proud sports franchises in Professional sports.

As far as the rest of your post is concerned I'm aware the Browns are stocked with young talent but you've got more holes than the Steelers do. You still need a franchise QB (I don't believe there is one in this draft) and I've always liked Dion Lewis but I don't think he's a 3 down back. Beyond him you have jack at the position so they'll need to address that in the draft. Gordon is nice but he's one strike away from the no, no zone just like Blackmon. The Steelers need an elite tackle and a nose tackle of similar mold to Casey Hampton. There are some guys already on the roster but they're too wet behind the ears to see the field unless the Steelers continue to lose and it's "try out" time. They've got holes but not more holes than they have draft picks and even if they come out and finish 8-8 again next season the ship will have been righted after that following season. A left tackle to keep Ben upright improves the team 5 fold and I'm not sutre why so many people continue to discredit that fact even people from my own fan base

I'd love for someone to run through the Pittsburgh roster and point out the glaring holes. McClendon will bump over to defensive end when Keisel goes. Heyward has really turned it on and they may keep hood around for vet minimum or something similar. Shark was brought in to either replace Clark or Polamalu and we still have Robert Golden who the organization loves at safety as well. William Gay is having his best season as a Steeler and yes Ike Taylor is getting old but we also still have Cortez Allen and I full expect them to draft another corner. Offensively Bell has already proven himself and that's with a very patchwork offensive line in front of him thanks to injury. I'm not certain what will happen with Sanders but if he stays around the receiving core is above average especially once Wheaton sees the field (recovering from injury) We'll need to draft a tight end soon but Heath isn't dead and still playing good football. Bottom line outside of offensive line and nose tackle/defensive end there aren't any positions were the player in the spot is connsidered a sieve or "terrible". Draft a guy like Matthews in the first round and the offense is immediatley better both through the air and on the ground. As far as Tomlin is concerned the Pittsburgh media is just looking for someone to blame and because people aren't used to seeing the Steelers lose it's getting more national attention as a direct result.

  • The stoolers suck. They are old. They have limited talent, and the talent they do have is getting ready to sign up for aarp. Remember the 49ers fall from grace? It took them over a decade to become relevant again. Now its the squeel-fags turn. They will suck for a decade.

Here is where I have to advise you that you are obviously young and ill informed. The Indians had a stretch of failure twice as long as the Pirates. From 1954 to 1995 they did not see a playoff appearance. Why the fuck do you think they made "Major League" about the Indians and not the Pirates?

Three Rivers was always full before Bonds and Co. left town and the same was always true for the Steelers. Either way the minute the Pirates showed a glimmer of hope that park was always full and that was before this season. Management displayed they were investing in the team for the long haul and it's paid off and that's all it was going to take to get people back in to Pirate baseball. Good for them....not that the good/bad people of Pisstown deserved them, but it was good to see some fresh blood in the NL playoffs.

Sorry Charlie, but you are just being Pollyanna about your team.

Yea, the Browns seem to have holes at QB and RB....but your team has so many holes that it seems that Shia LeBoeuf has been at work there. (see the Movie "Holes")

Yes, both those position do need to be addressed....and I don't think anyone has ever claimed that Dion Lewis was to be a 3 down back. At the onset of the season he was to be our "Darren Sproles" type back.

Gordon is nice but he's one strike away from the no, no zone just like Blackmon.

True....but if he keeps his nose clean he could prove to be one of the best 5-10 WRs in the game.

The Steelers need an elite tackle and a nose tackle of similar mold to Casey Hampton. There are some guys already on the roster but they're too wet behind the ears to see the field unless the Steelers continue to lose and it's "try out" time. Yea, they have the same number of holes as they have draft picks....but you are stupid if you think those holes will automatically be filled with 5th, 6th, 7th round draft picks...or even earlier picks. The Browns picked Leon McFadden CB in the 3rd round, Jamoris Slaughter S in the 5th, Armonty Bryant DE in the 6th, and Garrett Gilkey in the 7th. Do you think those guys filled the holes the Browns had at CB,S and OG? NO (Armonty was as depth choice).

If you think you can get guys in there to fill all your holes on the OL, DL, DB in the lower rounds, you are fooling yourself. You might get some help. You may even find a diamond in the rough....but the Odds are never in your favor in that crap shoot.

A left tackle to keep Ben upright improves the team 5 fold and I'm not sutre why so many people continue to discredit that fact even people from my own fan base

Well, this next draft is supposed to be a good one for LTs....so maybe that should be that team's draft priority.

I'd love for someone to run through the Pittsburgh roster and point out the glaring holes. McClendon will bump over to defensive end when Keisel goes. Well, let's put it this way.....at least you are an optimistic fan....if a deluded one. So now you know what it is like to have been a Browns fan for about the last 15 years. "This one guy in the draft is gonna make a world of difference for this team" "These one or two guys are gonna do better and show how good they are" NOT
