  • I thought this was worth its own thread. I posted this in another thread.

This was put out last month. It lists the point spread impact for the loss of a player. Notice the top 20 players are QBs !!!!!!!

Rodgers is at the top with 10. Although its not linear, it essentially correlates to about a 30% less chance to win a football game. That is 0.3 wins per game, over a 16 game season is 4.8 wins. On the other side, a stud player like Joe Thomas is worth 2.5 points or about 0.05 wins per game (almost 1 a year). Quite a lot for a non-QB and really about the most you could get from an OL.

  • DUH!

  • 2.5 points = .025 not .05 influence per game = .4 across a season or almost a half a game lost for a supposed stud cornerstone like JT.

makes me wonder what Calvin or AD coulda done for us for the last 6 years...

2.5 points on the spread is roughly the equivalent of having a 5% higher chance of winning. Thus, the 0.05.

  • The interesting, if not surprising, thing, is that you don't get a player that isn't a QB until the 21st rank. Just one more piece of evidence of why the Browns need to do what they can to get the best QB possible from this draft.
