Please Blow It All Up Again Jimmy

The Browns Board

  • stop being browns fans. Move to another team. I'm serious. This new breed of spoiled, entitled fantasy league degenerates are ruining sports as a whole...but especially in places like Cleveland where the foundation had been ripped out from underneath the team 15 or so years ago, these kinds of fans are making it impossible to build anything. Go away, I'm serious. I'm willing to put up with a couple years of mediocrity if it means building a foundation to a team like what the Steelers have. Just read an article about the Steelers young corp of LB'ers who didn't look promising at the beginning of the year but are starting to surge now. Why are the Steelers capable of developing players like that? These guys would have been bench riding the entire season and possibly not playing for us at all the next season. Yet the Steelers can get these guys up and running before the season is even over. This was the Steelers "retooling' year. Why can the retool like this on the fly without blowing up the entire franchise? Cause they are stable at the coaching and FO. So please all of you Browns fans who now want Chuds and Horton fired go away. Don't come to the boards and don't phone in on the radio. Just stop being browns fans completely.

  • The team "played" good much of the season. They didn't win games though. Bad play-calling and execution at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters costed at least 4 games. Really, if they could have run out the clock with any sembelance of a running game this team would be looking at 8-8. We abandoned the running game once we realized the last regime's "stud" draft pick was a pure bust and we had noboby else to turn to... Fix the run game, upgrade the QB, and add some depth on D and this team is good.

The only basis for the "blow it up" argument is the record, but I argue this regime has very little to do with the poor record. It was more the 2012 draft busts, injuries, and poor execution by some young talented players. Young players are going to play like young players, until they keep getting experience... Hopefully, next year we can get rid of some garbage (Bess, Weeden, Lauvao, all the RBs) and add some competetion for the "iffy" starters (Robertson, Gipson, Greco) and get this thing going the right way for a change... I have faith... as always...

  • I'm calloused to losing by now....the record doesn't really matter it's not like I'm gonna go root for someone else.

  • I have all the faith in the world in this regime and the result is exactly what I expected coming in to this season. I think they got everything they could out of this roster. They mailed this season in from the time they all took the job. It was obvious at the draft we were building for next year. But I did see progression out of some key players. Cameron finally showed what he could do, Gordon exploded, Skrine and Gipson came along this year, and with a couple more players and some more progression I think were on our way. For the love of all that is holy, please let us get a damn QB.

  • Thank god some assholes fought for all the teams names, colors, and history. I said it from day one. Brownstown is no more. U figure by now we coulda all been rooting for different colors and a name. Giving us all that shit back has been a fucking curse.

  • nope I'm the one and only and I'm fed up with the bullshit they keep running out on the field. Everyone looking through beer goggles keeps hitting the replay button oh just give em a chance to get their players in here. They had their chance and blew every opportunity. Andy Reid took a two win team and is in the playoffs this year. Open your fukcing eyes people it can be done in one offseason. How many 4 win seasons do you people want to go through?

We didn't hire Andy Reid, we hired a first-year coach. If you hire a first-year head coach you should expect first-year results. By the second year you should expect at least 8-8 and by year three you should expect playoffs. Cycling coaches out every year is what will guarantee a string of 4 win seasons.

  • Drinking booze is counter-productive when posting. This is an excellent coaching staff.

    Injuries, missing some key pieces...

    but the whining/venting goes on.

    fuck you.

who are you to tell how other browns' fans should act?

build a foundation? mr. all knowing browns fan cleveland4life what do you call thomas mack jordan rubin taylor haden DQ sheard and ward? that's not a FUCKING foundation???

i'm not saying firing these guys is the right thing to do and wouldn't want to see it. BUT there are plenty of questions about everyone in this new regime that need to be answered. like what's up with the worse play calling ever? we have a top ten defense who can't stop anyone in the second half? where's our OC that is magic with QBs? he is such a wizard even he could make weeden into a real NFL starter, correct?

no. no. no. for any fan to bring up the fact that yet once again the browns will finish below .500 is whining and bitching? well do me a favor and get out of my foxhole cunt cuz when it comes time to stand up you'd be running backwards. i am one to challenge anyone who has taken on the responsibility of doing a job, saying they WILL do that job, but yet falls short. sure it might take another 2, 3, 4 or 5 years but "give me the chance and i'll do it, promise."

BULL FUCKING SHIT. they don't deserve to be fired but they do need to know that this record will not be tolerated next year and if they can't improve WITH THIS FOUNDATION and all the picks coming up in the draft by 3 wins next year you can hit the road jack.

i hope santa is a winer and shits all over your milk and cookies!

Sure, that's absolutely right, and they should be questioned because that will motivate them. But the OP doesn't even want to give them the chance to improve next year.

The worst thing we could do is fire everyone at this stage. We then bring in new coaches and FO who will not have the first-hand experience with the players and team, have no clue as to what the team really needs to address in the draft in free agency, and we end up going through yet another season where a new head coach spends a season just evaluating his team.

What we should be asking the FO and HC is what they learned this year and how they plan to use that learning to improve next year.

    agreed.

but you also cannot ask everyone that has been watching this team since they were born to act all the same i.e. sit on your hands and don't say anything, be polite and gracious or everyone riot. we are not all the same. i'll listen to people bitch and moan because that is their right. to say "go away root for another team because you are not a true fan or because you DO complain we don't want you here" is complete bullshit.

i've been a fan since 1976. i've seen it all. there have been good, great and lousy throughout the years. can i react in a positive way when we do good? is that acceptable? can i reaact poorly and negatively when we suck ballz? is that acceptable?

no one man's opinion in this country is better than another's. that's the FOUNDATION of this country and should be as a fandom.

Yessir, with you there, even though you told me to get lost on my first post on these forums haha. 🙂

  • That excuse doesn't fly when you have a first year coach come from the college ranks and has 9 wins in Philly. I want immediate results not 5 year plans. I'm sick and tired of 5 year plans. Turnarounds can happen in one offseason.

Thats bullshit. The talent level and the state of the franchise has to be factored in. U really think if Philly hires Chud they have a 4 win season vise versa college boy comes to Cleveland we would be gearring up to win one more game to go to the playoffs? Ur an idiot if so.

Where teams can be turned around in one or two seasons. The Browns are not one of them sorrrrry. Problem has been NO ONE has gotten enough time because everyone expects a 10 or 11 win season in a coaches first season. I didn't agree with chud hire but the browns have made their bed and now have to sleep in it. Five years with chud minimum. No matter how bad it gets. Or else these guys are no different.

U cannot compare the eagles to the worst franchise in the history of football.

For every Chip Kelly there are there are plenty of HC who lose in their first year with a new team. Here are two:

    Belichick: 5-11 with patriots.

Bill Parcells: 3-12-1 with giants as HC

  • I would kill for 5 wins

  • hey this staff might be the best thing since walsh and his crew but rememeber first impressions is what you remember most and comin out the gate these guys pulled up lame coming around the outside corner.

thought a genious or wizard could make a dummy smart given the time they had all season and prior to that.

guess that only happens in fairy tales.

  • Lets go with the here and now not 30 years ago. There are 7 first year coaches this year. Their records are 10-5, 9-6, 8-7, 8-7, 6-9, 4-11, 4-11. Tell the first 4 they are supposed to wait until year 5 to start winning.

Well I don't know about those other teams, but Cleveland isn't just a first-year HC, it's a new owner and FO, too. Having a decent QB helps, too. We can't pin it all on the coaches, winning and losing is a team effort.

The Steelers are capable of developing players because the coaches have been with the team for more than a year or two. One year under a new regime is not enough time to get everything the way that you want. Those players have played with each other for years and they only add pieces here and there. The Browns had a complete overhaul, it is going to take another year or two for the defense to truly come together. The only pieces we need on defense now are ILB and #2 CB. Our defense will be truly lethal soon enough. The offense will be going through their overhaul this offseason. We are looking at probably a new QB, RB, #2 WR and some new OL.

Depending on the QB play next year we could definitely we close to the .500 mark next year. If we just nail drafting a QB then everything else will fall into place.
