LOL... haven't seen the 5-2 since George Allen's 'Skins spang it on an opponent in a playoff game decades ago... won the game with it.

Think about it. Taylor, Rubin, Winn, Mugshot (if his heart is ok), Hughes....all on the line at the same time. Maybe substitute Kruger in there on the edges from time to time. Just tell those guys to fire out every play. Sure we'd get beat but it would be fun to watch the Browns get the rep for ending qb's seasons. They'd be hobbling off the field all season long. At this point fuck winning eh.....just make it so that no one wants to play offense against us. Most despicable and appalling defense of all time would be fine with me.

The jury is still out. Honestly how often did you see the pocket collapse from the middle and not the edges.

Consistently it was Kruger and mingo or Shepard getting a rush and the qb takes a half step up and those guys are blocked out of the play. Collectively we need a rush not just from the edges. I would like to see the line of scrimmage moving backwards. This D should have had more sacks imo

  • All coaches mentioned so far would "more than likely" revert our defense back to a 4-3. And why not right? Maybe next year we can run a 5-2, nobody runs that...we'd be cool. Fuck this

I would rather run the 46. Plenty of talent up front to do it. Taylor and Rubin in the middle, Bryant and Winn on the egde, Ward, DQ, Kruger, and Mingo behind the line with Gipson roaming center field. We could pick up another edge rusher with all the picks we have. Leave Haden manned up and maybe pick up another physical corner. That defense would make all of our divison opponents shit in their pants.

  • According to Adam Schefter, Lovie Smith is the front runner for the Tampa Bay job.

Didn't even know Schiano got fired. Going to be a lot of openings to fill. The strong candidates have to be looking at Banner and Lombardi and no QB and saying "No fucking way".

Kruger and Sheard would be out in that scheme...not fast enough. If you're basically putting DL's on the edge...than extra pressure comes in the form of blitzes so that's when a kid like Mingo makes more sense. Kruger especially is too slow to be moving around in space.

Six open jobs as far as I can tell:

    Browns

    Bucs

    Lions

    Redskins

    Texans

    Vikings

Any others? I seem to recall Jason Garrett being told that another 8-8 season would see him fired, so maybe there's something there.

Bryant can easily switch to a 4-3 DE all things "healthy", which I don't know right now. Kruger is also theoretically a hybrid anyway and probably does his best work with his hand in the ground...so he can be a 4-3 DE easily as well. But yeah I get what you're saying...it's another switch and shoehorning guys into new roles is not what we should be doing EVERY GOT DAMN MOTHER FUCKING YEAR omg...omfg I'm getting mad just saying that to myself.

Garret "might" get 5 wins next year if he comes to Cleveland which apparently isn't close to good enough so fuck it and put him on the ex's payroll.

Wasn't suggesting we go after him at all! Just saying he might go.

  • It's apparently all quiet in Dallas and it sounds like Garrett might stay but Monte Kiffin will be put back out to pasture.

I had to go back and reread the 46, i remember the Bears ran it way back but couldn't remember exactly what it entailed. But no, no we can't run a 46. "Maybe" if we had Seattles corners. Maybe. Currently, omg our secondary would get would get tracked.

  • So Lovie goes to the Bucks.......Good hire.

  • chris speilman.

  • @vaportrail said:

Why would a coach the caliber of Lovie Smith want to come here and be a fucking sock puppet with Banner and Lombardi's hands so far up his ass?

    He fucking wouldn't.

We're in the same situation we were with that fat fucking walrus in charge. We're getting a Shurmur quality coach. Fuck this front office. I refuse to support this team in any way if McDaniels is the next hire.

because he'll get paid that's why.

    @the-gipper said:

There are only 32 of these jobs.....and they pay 4-8 million dollars a year.

Chud is getting like 10 million to go away.

THAT is why he would take this job.

Boom. Told. The guy has a knockout résumé and a shit ton of money from his previous coaching gig. He doesn't give a shit about the money, he wants to go to a winner. There were about 6 other vacancies, unsurprisingly he didn't end up here.

So, I ask the question again - Why would anyone with any premier talent want to come here and be a sock puppet with Lombardi and Banner's hands up their ass?

The best we can do is McDaniels at this point because the Banner, Lombardi and their cronyism. I can't fucking wait for the guy who ran off Cutler and Marshall for Orton and Tebow to be our next head coach. I'm sick of these Belichick castoffs being put in charge of a team. It just doesn't work.

Mangini - Garbage. Failed in New York and Cleveland.

Crennel - Garbage. Failed in Cleveland and Kansas City.

McDaniels - Garbage. Drafted Tim Tebow. Denver fucking hates this guy. His former players fucking hate him.

Savage - Garbage. Failed in Cleveland by spending too much money in FA.

Pioli - Garbage. Failed in Kansas City by picking up failures from the 2007-2009 Cleveland Browns.

Schwartz - Garbage. Failed in Detroit. Immature idiot who wastes away the talent of who was once the best WR in the league.

These guys only ever succeeded in supporting roles. They won't amount to shit as a head coach.

Haslam is going to go to prison, McDaniels is going to lead us to another 5-win season, and all the talent we've accrued will leave in free agency at the end of 2014. The list of players with expiring contracts includes the following:

Haden, Rubin, Taylor, Sheard, Groves, Cameron, Skrine, Gipson

We might be able to make up for it with all the draft picks we have, but that would require us to hit on at least 70% of them. Lombardi's first draft isn't looking so hot right now. Oh yeah, Alex Mack is as good as gone.

Fuck this front office. Fuck them so much.

  • rather be under the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree than that of holmgren.

you want to blame anyone with this season blame it on that fat fuck from green bay/seattle. ruined 2 franchises for decades within 5 years.

meanwhile he'ssitting on his yacht sippin pina colodas.

hate the FO under jimmy too. but what ya gonna do when the man that signs the checks is still in your corner?

  • Smith is off the board.

Not sure about Mangini but I do wish Rob Ryan was our DC again. I was not happy when he left after the Mangini firing.
