Texans trying to trick us

and for the record I will get absolutely SICK if the Texans trade down or get Manziel/Bridgewater, and then the Rams trade the #2 pick and someone gets the other one. Then we're either stuck with Bortles, or we literally HAVE to grab Sammy Watkins.
I think the Texans want Johnny... just not at #1. (I'm already sick of typing this).
We, at #4, are as low as they likely feel they could trade and still land him. But we're rumored to be after him as well, so I think they are stuck with taking him at #1.
... or we literally HAVE to grab Sammy Watkins.
You say that like it's a bad thing...
yes. it's all smoke and mirrors and other teams try to outdo each other not only on the field but in their chess game which is draft day.
the browns got checkmated on that one.
Yup... but the big difference is that there's not a whiff of panic in this FO... they're too arrogant to panic... at least this not this early.

I'd be willing to bet we'll end up at 1 or more likely 2 when it's all said and done.

I turned on espn today and noticed Mel Kiper revealed the #1 pick overall in his mock draft was Johnny Football going to the Houston Texans. My theory on this, is that the Texans might of just made a brilliant move.
By sparking a ton of interest in Manziel, they can trade down to 3 or 4, and pretty much be a lock for either Bridgewater (who might actually be the guy they want all along), or Clowney.
Either way, if they're able to get a team to give up the ship to move to #1 to get Manziel, they could make out with one of the biggest steals in recent history. I sure as hell hope Banner and Jim don't give up a ton to move to #1 to get Johnny..... If he drops to us that would be awesome, but you have to figure Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, Clowney, Matthews, and Watkins are most likely going to be the top selections....
What's your theory? am i overanalyzing this shit? Giving the texans too much credit?

I think you are analyzing it perfectly and the Texans are playing it perfectly. If he falls to us then take him, but if not you will be guaranteed Bridgewater, Clowney, or Watkins, all of which I would be happy with.

My theory is that no matter what the Browns do I expect Mike Lombardi to fuck things up and make bad choices....whether they stick where they are....trade up...trade down etc. etc.
What I really expect Lombardi to do is to watch that Kevin Costner movie and do exactly what is done in that movie. That way he can blow his own horn and say that HE is the real life Sonny Weaver.
You think because he won't address the local media that he doesn't crave for attention? No sir.

you say it like it is bad thing. watkins is going to be the best pro in this entire draft class barring any kind of injury; the dude is just that good.

texans won't dumb shaub after one bad season. He'll come back from his injury. THey will likely draft his backup this year, but not with the #1. Texans are taking Clowney....of course they're trying to get one over on teams that are perennially in need of qb's and are just a few picks back. They'd get our pick and probably the Indy pick for that #1 and still get Clowney. I'm gonna say right now that the Texans will have the best front line in football if they get Clowney. The only guy in the draft I'd take over Clowney if I were the Browns FO, is Watkins. I think even Jason Campbell would light up the league throwing to those two guys and Jordan Cameron. I honestly don't think we need to roll any dice this year. Stay at 4 and take the BPA. Even though Clowney could very easily transition to a hybrid OLB, it would take time so if we stay in the 3-4 i would put more weight on drafting Watkins. If, and we all know it's basically a coin toss at this point, we go back to the 4-3....than I think we have to target Clowney.

i don't think the rams have given up on bradford. i think they know there is going to be a fight between certain clubs to go get their guy and don't want to be trumped by another team, which makes their pick @2 very much in play as far as trades are concerned.
what they really need is to protect bradford and give him some weapons. can you name their #1 receiver off the top of your head? neither can i. even if they trade down 2 spots to us for example they'll probably be guaranteed to get 2 more picks from us and only swap 2 positions where they can get watkins or whoever they are sold on.
i think the rams will walk away like bandits on draft day.

Campbell couldn't throw to Chandler Winslow and Joiner....

Exactly- if the Texans don't take Clowney, the Rams almost certainly will. There is no reason, none for the Browns to trade up. If they're going qb shopping one of the top 3 will be there, or Watkins.
I think teams learned a thing or two from the Redskins RGII fiasco, and there's not going to be a sell the ranch trade to move up to take a qb this year- but I can't underestimate the ability of Lobotomy to try the same tactic.

I hope they bluffin...but it is a regional thing here....he would bring excitement and attention....but don't trade up...if they take him they take him...CLeveland just get one of the other two QB,s and hope he does good.As much as I like Manziel,I wouldn't trade both those picks for him.

By the time the draft comes around it will be clear that Clowney is the BPA. It will also be clear the Texans are going to take him. Sure, somebody might try to jump the Jags & Browns for a QB, but I'm not sure I see who has the ammo and/or need, so the Rams will sit at 2 and take Matthews. The Jags will have the first swing at QB and probably will take Bridgewater... So...
The Browns are going to pick between Watkins, Bortles, Manziel... For me, it's pretty easy to say I take Bortles, but I'm curious what will happen to his stock in the next 3+ months. I'd love to take Watkins, but there is a lot of depth at WR in the draft, and we can find a true WR2 into the 3rd round. Manziel... stay away! I've seen what he's done and I will root for him like nobody's business, but I can't see NFL QB (watch the A&M vs. Missouri game from this year).
Having said all that... I like standing pat, and picking any of Clowney, Bridgewater, Bortles, or Watkins... One of those guys HAS to be there when we pick and I'd be happy with any of them... Plus, if we go Watkins/Clowney, we can still try and get Carr with 1b (but PoG put the jinx on him by posting how he is his new man crush)

Actually Moses' (Horwitz) brother Shemp (Samuel) was the original. He left to do some feature films and was replaced by brother Jerome who we know as Curly.
He was ironically nicknamed curly because of his curly hair. When he pitched his brother Moe to be the replacement Moe didn't think he looked funny enough. He then shaved his head and Moe broke out laughing.
Curly eventually suffered a stroke and brother Shemp came back to the act. There are actually episodes that because of editing you can see both of them.

oh I know. Im just saying that out of 200+ players to compete with for best over the course of a career he has a slim shot of coming out the best. I even said hes the best bet to succeed. Manziel is the QB I think has the best shot to succeed, and our ultimate need is QB, which is why Im pro-Manziel at 4.but you won't bet against manziel.
alright PoG.
