Well this old fucker just wants to see the Browns win. I don't care if they have skippy and zombo fellating one another in the backfield and I have to watch the entire thing.

If the Browns win, I'm good.

FUCK YOU you little piece of shit newbie bastard. Do yourself a favor and OD on your blue meth you piece of shit. If it weren't for the old Browns fans you wouldnt even have a team to watch in Cleveland.

Not to many of us think Mettenberger is better than Manziel. There are however a LOT of us that worry Manziel has the same PUNK fuck attitude a little pussy like you does.

Regarding all the old farts supporting Weeden are you kidding me???? Try reading posts from say the last 4 months moron.

I'd be surprised if you even know the difference on the OL between a guard and tackle.

Go back to tweeting and facebook and take your troll ass back to class now

        I'll say it.

        He has a point.

Many of us are pining for the days of a stout, run mauling offensive line and the Maryland I. The NFL is changing. Mobility is an asset highly valued at the QB position. Not to say we should run the read-option and take Manziel, but grabbing a quarterback with sub 4.8 speed would be nice. Denver is proving that you don't need 5 drafted players along your line to succeed.

With that said, this Super Bowl shows us there is no one way to get there. The best way- pick a philosophy, whatever philosophy you want, and do it better than everyone else.

This is what I'll say as a younger Browns fan in general. I talk with my dad all the time about the team and we get into similar arguments as the OP does. Dad, along with you older posters, can remember the days when the Browns were actually relevant. In my life (born in 1989 so first memories are after the team came back), the Browns have literally been the laughing stock of the NFL. Even the year we went to the playoffs it seemed fairly obvious it was a fluke year. At least you older posters have the memories of being good, we don't. It's not like anyone likes seeing the team be this consistently bad, but I can't emphasize how much of a difference that makes.

I don't think I know it all, but I don't generally disagree with what the OP said either. The NFL a little more each year is embracing the 'mobile' QB. Once the patiarchs of the NFL retire (the Mannings, Big Ben, Brady etc), more and more QB's will be the mold of Cam Newton, Colin K etc. I guarantee the rules will even become more favorable to atheletic QB's as they are now. To say this team needs a OG and CB to become a playoff team is a fool's mindset. It used to be you could easily stack up on defense and win a super bowl. I can understand why older fans in general think that's the way to go, but you have to open your eyes to the bigger picture. the NFL is trying to become global and make as much money as possible. Our generation hates watching 7-6 games where defense reigns. We want Manning throwing 5 td's and our fantasy teams to score 200 points. Goddell like him or not understands this and is changing the game around that idea. Bottom line: Time to get a QB who can throw and run.

They make my god damn head want to explode. They want to build a 1960's team in a 2014 era.

            1. Every single older Browns fan I talk to wants a Lumbering doofus QB who's AT LEAST 6'4 230 pounds with a rocket arm. These are the same assholes that continue support for Weeden. I just heard some douche bag say he wants Zach Mettenberger over Manziel because he's a prima donna. Manziel is too fun and exciting for these old men bleeding deacon so of course they want a classic pocket passer. God forbid we have some fucking excitement

            2. They act unless you have 5 fucking pro bowlers on the offensive line then you have to take an offensive linemen at all cost in the first round.

            3. They all want a smashmouth running back. Dude, nobody gives a shit about smashmouth running backs anymore. Quit living in your fathers fucking NFL

            4. Rant over.

Maybe it has nothing to do with that....maybe it has to do with the fact that in this division we have two 6'4" 230 lb. QBs who have won Super Bowls in the last 5-6 years....and another that has taken his team to the playoffs 3 straight years. I personally don't care who we get or what size he is as long as he can win.

So....look at this Super Bowl....pitting one of those tall lumbering QBs vs. a shorter/quicker type.

Either style can win, so don't YOU be the douchebag who is stuck on getting a particular type of QB. Get one that can win.

            2. They act unless you have 5 fucking pro bowlers on the offensive line then you have to take an offensive linemen at all cost in the first round.

I am stuck on having a good offensive line....from wherever you get that talent. It can be a #3 overall pick like Joe Thomas...or a UFA for all I care.

Or would you prefer the type of OL we had that got Tim Couch killed on a daily basis?

            3. They all want a smashmouth running back. Dude, nobody gives a shit about smashmouth running backs anymore. Quit living in your fathers fucking NFL

OK, a smashmouth RB named Marshawn Lynch is a main cog in this year's Super Bowl. And Knowshon Moreno for the other side is not dissimilar.

Yes, a team needs a smashmout RB....the Browns were hurt badly by not having one.

            4. Rant over.

But, is the idiocy? I suspect not.

I respect my elders and everything because I'm getting up there myself (27) but why does every Browns fan born before 1965 believe the only way to win is with 5 Pro Bowlers on the offensive line, a hall of fame running back, and an immobile goofy QB ?!?!?

If you believe you are showing respect to your elders you are fucking dumber than I originally thought. Hell you make some decent points but they way you present the is as far from respectfull as you can get. JRB12711 makes similar points without being an asshole about it. With your opening remark putting every old Browns fan in the bucket of assholes and douchebags you again were far from being respectful.

Most of us simply want a winner. I dont give a fuck if our QB is mobile as shit or a stoic pocket passer. I care he is a winner. Same with the RB, I dont care if he is smashmouth for his yards or he can fly on angel wings to get the yards we need. I just want him to get them.

I see you have qualified "old" as born before 1965, so as a 1964 baby I will deliver a response from the OGP (Old Guy Party):

I really don't think anyone, old or young, wants "lumbering" or "doofus".

At least 6'4 230 lbs? Sure ... if they are mobile and football smart with a quick release and can lead. Because that describes the two guys in our division who beat us down twice a year and have three rings between them. That size also describes the prototypical super bowl winning QB from any generation, including this one. If Manning wins on Sunday, then nine of the last 11 Super Bowls have been won by guys 6'4 or taller. Not ... 1960's ... 2001-2014. Today.

That said, we all just want the best QB. Personally, I am on board with Bridgewater, and Manziel is my second choice ... both smaller guys that can move ... because they are the best prospects in my opinion.

"You young guys" think this Manziel phenomenon is something new. Wow, a young, ballsy guy who can throw on the run and beat you with his legs ... this is the new NFL! "Us old guys" say: You don't have to tell us what works, we KNOW what works. Fran Tarkenton worked, Steve Young worked ... these type of guys CAN work. In fact every generation, every decade, has had "the ballsy guy who can throw on the run and beat you with your legs". If you ask most Browns fans my age, their favorite Browns QB of all-time is not the 6'5 lumbering Kosar, but the 6'1 shoot-from-the-hip Brian Sipe ... because he was very exciting. Who doesn't want exciting? Did you know he was the NFL MVP? Maybe look that up.

Hey, you know that Steve Young guy on the NFL Network? He is what Johnny Manziel aspires to be. Could beat you with his legs, could beat you with his arm, could beat you with his brain, could beat you any way you could possibly be beaten ... and did. Not afraid to take a hit either ... took so many he had to retire early. But not before he wrapped up a Hall of Fame career with the highest passing rating of any retired QB.

I think I speak for most of us when I say it was much more exciting to watch Young and Favre running around making plays and taking hits than it was watching Aikman sitting in a pocket delivering the ball like a robot. But we will take whatever wins. six foot winners win, 6'6 winners win ... just get us a fucking winner.

                  2. They act unless you have 5 fucking pro bowlers on the offensive line then you have to take an offensive linemen at all cost in the first round.

I don't know anyone on this board that wants to draft an offensive lineman in the first round this year. If they do, then they need their head examined. We need to always be upgrading the offensive line, and we definitely need better run blocker on the inside, but playmakers come first. Having a stud left tackle is half the battle with the offensive line ... the key is a cohesive 5-man unit that plays smartly together. And some beef.

                  3. They all want a smashmouth running back. Dude, nobody gives a shit about smashmouth running backs anymore. Quit living in your fathers fucking NFL

Apparently Pete Carroll still gives a shit, because he just rode one to the Super Bowl. Last year both teams in the Super Bowl were smashmouth.

This statement of yours is stupid.

You don't have to find them in the first round anymore, you can find them just about anywhere, that is good news. But you still have to be able to run the football to win, that is the critical news.

Seeing as one team has a 6'5 lumbering QB and the other team has a smashmouth running back ... you have really painted yourself into a corner this Sunday.

                  4. Rant over.

OK, then. 27 years old? We've had one playoff win and three winning seasons since I was 27 years old ... can I rant now?

It's better to keep one's mouth shut and seem stupid, then open one's mouth and remove all doubt .............You can find that quote in a book, whoops, I mean you can find that quote on your smart phone.

Oh sweet Jesus, spare me the "I used to walk 8 miles to school in the snow" been around the block jargon....

For fucks sake the generation before you pulled that same shit on you.

Have you guys seen the atmosphere in Seattle? SF? Carolina? It's fucking embarrassing how better it is in those places.

I'm tired of this fucking rotting, dying, corpse of an organization that needs a pulse of Youth and Swagger.

The Old Browns are DEAD. DEAD as a fucking Door Nail. All the fun shit that my dad used to tell me about in the dog pound is over. Bringing kegs in, passing joints, girls flashing tits, fighting Steelers fans, throwing batteries at Boomer Esasion and his hair do... It got replaced by bullshit PC political correctness, guys who drive Volvo's and wear Khahki pants and complain when you stand up t cheer. The past 3 Browns games I went to I either got kicked out, or had to deal with some fucking Bouche' Liberal Dad complaining about my "language". This team has been a disaster since 1999 and my language is the fucking problem?

I love the old school dog pound guys that used to chuck beers at opposing teams heads but as far as the shit I see in the stadium now, it's embarrassing. It's full of suburban dad's that don't want a young exciting player like Manziel here....

so to make his point he pulls three teams out that are carbon copies of old school football that he just slammed.

What because our qb isn't black? U act like these new age teams are runnin the exotic options and wishbones and 2015 madden user designed offenses.

Oh and by the way chump the three teams u mentioned don't even have a runnin qb as good as Steve Young who was doing that shit when u were still playing with ur own shit outta ur diapers.

"We are Americans. We don't quit doing something because it's wrong. We just keep doing the wrong thing till it turns out right." Browns maybe the most American Football team ever.

Older Browns fans have had been blessed with memories of what is was like to be a rooting tootin Browns fan back in the glory days (for me the pinnacle was the late eighties). We supported with pride teams with a true legacy who knew what it meant to put on the Browns colors. We rooted for unified teams with strong leadership on the field. If you didn't leave it all on the field every play and every fucking game.....you didn't play. Players didn't get married to their skank ho's during the season. You played through injuries and illness that today's players would never think of suiting up for. As cliched as it sounds it really seemed to be a team with solid "blue collar" ethics that the fans endeared themselves to.

Old Muni stadium was the Mecca of all things Browns. It was a rite of passage to make the pilgrimage for all the true believers of the Browns faith. Short of molesting young children or going on a shooting rampage most behavior was tolerated. You didn't have a bunch of homos squeezing your horse balls to see if you had any "contraband" upon entering the premises. There was none of the "no boooze after the third quarter" chicken shit and you could get as fuckered up as you wanted as long as you could make it out of the gates with or without your buddies help. i don't condone this, but yes, there used to be some hellacious fights usually when the squeelers came to town. In the stands, pregame, postgame...anywhere anytime Fights were not the exemption but the norm. I witnessed Browns fans tipping over a car and giving the occupants a pummeling when they tried to drive through a crowd in front of Muni.

All I want to say about the current state of Browns affairs is that the culture of Browns pride never migrated from the old to the new version 15 years ago. Maybe someday soon they can bring in some personnel who can motivate and lead......Until then i refrain from draft evaluation and other speculative matters because i just don't have the fuckin energy anymore.

I knew things have changed in Cleveland forever after the 2012 St Louis game. As I stood in a mostly empty stadium throwing every imaginable insult at the Browns players I was confronted by a young mother with her teenage kids. She tuned me up pretty good regarding my behavior, but all I could do was look at her and her boys while shaking my head in utter disappointment and yearning for a time long gone. So it goes....

We should draft a smash-mouth running back like Trent Richardson and good pocket passer like Brandon Weeden.

Forget Russell Wilson or Ty Hilton, we got ourselves a good blue collar sumbitch DT like John Hughes instead.

Zach Mettenberger has a sexual assault charge, he's a laid back country boy, who gets injured, and got picking his nose and eating it on TV.

I think he'll fit right in here...

Your still suffering from diahrrea of the mouth I see. First its pretty safe to say we are aware of the fact Trent is NOT a good smashmouth running back and Weeden is not a good pocket passer. Trent can't find the holes in swiss cheese and Weeden never could pass from a muddy pocket.

Obviosuly we would all love to have Russel Wilson. I am sure when he was drafted you knew he was going to be a stud and should have been a first round pick?? Of course you did. Ty Hilton is meh ok....... I am going to go out on a limb here and say Josh Gordon may be just a little bit better.

Get off the Mettenberger kick already. There may be one guy on the board that would draft him high. The rest of us OLD and YOUNG guys have mixed opinions of who we think would work out best here and if any of them are franchise guys.

Overall you are just here to piss people off iwth your fuck stick comments. I will give you this, you are good at trolling.
