Haden is key to the Browns future, shut down the best receivers in the country last year, just cannot be allowed to leave.

There were a few games he didn't shut down anyone, but got burned good. But I think we should keep him.

Were there really? He had about 3 bad plays last year. I'll take that over just about any corner in the NFL...

Corner is one of if not the hardest position to play in the NFL, you're gonna get burned at times, that's inevitable

    Haden is outstanding

  • While I have the feeling that Haden is a lot more receptive than he'd have been a week ago... it's hard to imagine that he won't test the market.

He knows hes not going anywhere soon because wed tag him, so im sure hes more than receptive to these long term talks. Im thinking 5 years 60-65 million.
  • Long-term stability is usually more attractive to players than the money they can get by being tagged. If we're offering 5 yrs / $60-70 mil, he'd be wise to accept, but he has a while to negotiate so I'm sure there's no rush by his agent to get it done... Haden has been an active Cleveland fan since he was drafted. He has attended Cavs and Indians games actually wearing Cleveland gear... unlike that a**hole down in South Beach. I think we will work something out.

I think so to. I'm thinking Farmer got working on this right away because having Haden wrapped up might help him keep Ward. Just my own thoughts. And hopes.

  • Haden and Dion Sanders talking and getting lessons at the Probowl was awesome to watch. If you haven't seen it you can check it out on Clevelandbrowns.com in the video section. Really receptive and Haden genuinely appeared happy that Dion Sanders was watching him, said that's all he needed to hear. Sanders told him that sometimes Haden goes to sleep, that he never sleeps when he's matched up against AJ Green but he'll sleep on a no name player and get gouged. Sanders challenged Haden to not sleep on anyone and he could be the best... Haden accepted.

  • Haden was a Probowl player. First selection I think by Jerry Rice. The only other CB even close to Joe Haden is that one guy that talked about Crabtree...

  • Stats are bs. What you have to consider, is the pitiful nature of

the Browns offense. The defense was on the field a lot.

    Bashing Haden is dumb.

This partially. Haden's a great player, certainly one that we want to keep for the long term. He's definitely up there in terms of talent. Only a handful of guys I'd pick over him at the position: Sherman, Peterson, Revis.

I can't discount any of those other guys, but Haden also had pretty poor safety help in coverage compared to some of those other guys. Also our linebackers couldn't cover for squat. He went one on one against some much bigger, great receivers this year and handled his own quite well.

We still need a bigger #2 corner. Skrine is an excellent nickel corner IMO. He had a drastic improvement over last year, but the bears showed us what happens when you have multiple athletic big guys catching the ball against our secondary.

This is how I know you are a homer. Do some research and maybe re-watch the games. Haden had a down year, compared to the other elite CBs in the league at least.

    Overall- 18th (8.4 positive score)

    Penalties- T14th (7 total)

Targeted- 12th (No one seems afraid to throw at him)

    % Caught- T33rd (55.6%)

    Yards- 54th (556 yards)

Avg. Yards Per Catch- 10th (10.1)

YAC allowed- 46th fewest (169 yards)

Most Touchdowns allowed- T10th (6 TD allowed)

    Pass Deflections- T9th (12)

    INT- T6th (4)

    Passer Rating- 27th (75.2)

Six games covering Green/Brown/Smith on an island .... Buster Skryne opposite of him ... Weak pass rush ... Thre franchise QBs in the division .... Does any of that factor in?

  • @mike-h said:

And for all you people who defend Skrine... LMAO.

9 TD and he was only targeted 18 MORE TIMES than Haden. The "Skrine is only being beaten because teams are targeting him due to Haden being on the other side" argument is pretty dead.

Skrine improved a lot this year. I have no problems with him, but he shouldn't be our #2 corner - which I don't think anyone disagrees with.

I still think we should have drafted the Honey Badger which would have put our secondary in a much better position, but Lombanner chose McFadden.

  • skrine is not a #2 corner. that is something we have to address swiftly in the draft......someone with height and speed.

mike H, all of a sudden you are looking like the biggest hater on this forum. if people don't agree with you, you say they know nothing about football.

having a major in journalism doesn't make you a genius at anything, except how to write grammatically correct and either state facts or give your opinions.

sorta like everyone else on this board. you are seriously turning out to be a dick.

  • no way he's the second best corner in the NFL but you have to put him in the top ten teetering on the top five.

yeah he's not the best, not even close, but we're lucky to have him on our team. i mean we could have skrine and mcfadden covering some of the top echelon guys and get scorched every play.

haden does really good given his size. if someone could please tell someone in the FO if haden had someone playing across from him with equal talent and heart (and more size) we'd be more than good enough to cover man to man against anyone.

dude, i get where you are coming from. i get pissed when people don't see things through my eyes..............it's just seems like you've been on a tirade lately.

    hey maybe it's your turn?

Ditto. Look at his stats against the best- they're not shabby- shut down Green (twice), OK Megatron- but Megatron on one leg is better than 1\2 the wideouts in the NFL.

Screw stats- Haden is Frank Minnifield good- it was no accident he was the second cb taken @ the Pro Bowl after Peterson, who I'll grant is better. And your ranking of CBs is about right put Joe @ #5. in the freaking NFL.

Mike if you want to bitch about an off year, go post some Joe Thomas stats to show he had no business being in Hawaii.

The California weather is stressing me out.

now that's fucking funny. i could picture myself on a chaise lounge right now drinking some poofy umbrella drinks instead of dealing with this shit we've been eating for like 3 months now.

you know what they say: long winter short summer. hopefully whoever is playing QB or any other position in N OH next fall/winter can handle the conditions.........cuz it ain't no joke. (well it is kinda funny to see how the southern coast of the US doesn't understand anything about snow/ice or how to drive or just stay out of the mess).

i'm going out right now to dig out the car for the second time this morning. figured i'd get half done after the ice, now deal with the snow that fell on top of it.

have a pina colada on me.

  • 11 teams had a CB, DAL had two, who played more snaps than Haden and Skrine. Mike H

    ***********************************************************************

How many of them play in a division with every other team a playoff caliber team?

    Shut up already yourself. lol.

  • That your only rebuttal? I'll just label that as you are admitting you can't handle honest

discussion on this board. We disagree on all sorts of subjects. Either join in the fray,

or continue making yourself look like you should go hang out on a steeler board.
