  • Would rather keep Mack if I have a choice. Both of them would be a great day.

You would keep a center over a young pro bowl CB? Are you nukinfutz

  • Ahem. A pro bowl center.

    Key of the O line.

I wouldnt keep a HOF center over Haden. Macks not a very good runblocker against 3-4 nose tackles. I never understood why we never scheme plays for him to pull. He's probably the most athletic center in the league

I thought we shoulda tried Mack at LG and Greco at C last year...CBs are far more valuable than Cs. The average salaries prove most all teams agree.
  • Hadens production dipped in the last 1/4 of the season. That Jacksonville burn was painful to watch, there were a few times when we, as fans, hated admitting it but said out loud "that was on Haden"

Happened quite a lot towards the end, the production of the D in general fell off big time.

It is not a stretch at all to say that TJ Ward had a better season than Haden. Ward was certainly more consistent

  • Exactly. Haden had a few rough games where he was outplayed. Not just a few plays as some stated.

And for those who say he had no safety help, he was put in those situations BECAUSE he is supposed to be that type of player. You don't get to be called ELITE, and then use that as an excuse. It doesn't work that way.

Either he plays better and is elite, or he's just another good corner in the crowd.

probably only because he/the team has no one on the opposite field to rely on, correct?

if we had a trufant playing opposite of him...........?

get it? i hope farmer does and makes it our second pick.

Dennard, but I don't think he falls to 26.

i'd give a 3rd rounder to move up and get him if that's all it takes.......if not there are more out there. just not as good.

Finally someone who speaks some sense.

Clowney and Dennard is my dream first round.

  • me too!!

we should be partners on the 'amazing race' or something just as gay!!

(for real that first round i might actually think of selling my soul for, if not my ass for a weekend...)

    😉

  • I feel like there is a backlash against Haden ... from Browns fans nonetheless.

He is second team All Pro, and deservedly so.You don't just get votes for being a Brown.

He is absolutely the best cornerback this franchise has has since Minnifield peaked over 25 years ago.

If you are not happy with Joe Thomas, Josh Gordon or Joe Haden ... just go fuck yourself ... they are absolute stars on 32 teams.

  • @mike-h said:

No one said anything about not being happy with them Z.

Just that Haden isn't in the Top 5.

    That's YOUR opinion.

Five guys got voted to the All Pro team, by people more qualified by you, he was one of them.

You even admitted to me you just look at pro football focus numbers and don't take into consideration who he covers every week, who the corner is opposite of him, and what his pass rush is like.

You don't think he is top 5. OK. well, you're wrong. But let's say he is top 10 ... out of 64 starters ... so, we're all set at one corner ... check ... pay him ... best since Minnifield ,,, check ... pay him.

Maybe Associated Press writers, and those of us that watch him each week, have him over-rated because according to PFF he got beat x number of times despite being the only decent cover guy on his entire team and playing against some of the best QB-WR combinations in the league every other week while being on a team where no one got to the QB more times than six times all year.

He's still, even you admit, Top Ten, sooo ... let's fucking count our blessings and fucking pay him.

Heckert hit it out of the park ... next.

  • Is the Brownsboard on fire?

Mike H. is blowing smoke again....

I loved the pick and think he's a good corner, I just think he's slightly overrated and I'm not the only one.

Revis had a rookie opposite of him, Haden had Skrine--who some people (For some crazy reason) think had a big season last year.

I watched every single game, more than once, and noted so many times teams would target him, even in 3rd down situations. I'm going to keep all of that info next year, it'll make it easier so I won't have to rely on PFF. I use PFF For league comparisons because I don't watch every team, every week.

Haden was targeted more than any other top-tier QB, and the success rate was higher than it should be. A lot of the completions came when he was playing man coverage, what the elite CBs are asked to do. He did well at times, and struggled at others, and the results were mixed.

The Pro Bowl is never even close to 100 percent accurate on any given year and has as much to do with hype as it does play on the field.

People from the outside looking in, who don't even watch all of the Browns games, and just see a highlight INT of Haden, voted him into the Pro Bowl. I've talked to and heard plenty of writers who had no idea what I was talking about until I broke it down about Haden and then they started to see it.

I'm not wrong, it's not even an argument. And I'm glad he's a Browns player, like you said. Just don't crown the dude before he earns it because he's better than the awful DB next to him. Pay him Revis money though? K. Hopefully there's a long-term budget plan.

I never even mentioned the Pro Bowl. I'm talking All-Pro ... which means selected by Associated Press beat writers from across the country.

I'm interested to know what "hype" a cornerback on a 4-12 perennial loser created to brainwash the nation's sportswriters that he was a Top five corner?

I don't even know why it is so important to you that he not be considered Top five, Tope ten, whatever, when it comes down to "is he an elite #1 corner"? "Yes". Then you lock him up, like we locked up Joe Thomas, and like we need to lock up Josh Gordon.

I mean, some Retard started a thread that a college cornerback would be the #1 corner on our team. There is absolutely no grasp of the NFL and what it takes to be elite in that mindset.

I guess all I can say is that I hope the Browns lock him him up for another five years so we can debate how our #1 corner is only the sixth best cornerback in the world, and not the fourth.

--We've got the best cornerback in the division ... should we get all worked up because a couple guys in the NFC are better?

  • More action in progress :

Aaron Goldhammer ‏@HammerNation19 43m Per Grossi, Browns are making another effort at resigning Mack. Now thinks the Browns may make effort to sign him...

Right now, Mack is out of the Country, so it's just Agents talking right now, but it would be a pretty good guess that other Players are being contacted for contracts as well.

  • If Haden isn't a top 5 corner, he's close. Like top 8.

Just not at the dominant level yet. Still earned his Pro Bowl bid, even with a late season swoon.
