Who does everyone want with our first 3 picks?

The Browns Board

  • #04- Mike Evans

    #26- Derek Carr

    #35- Tre Mason

This would be okay, though- I think it might change tomorrow.

I hope you do- Evans is a slightly better version of Alshon Jeffrey but he's not a top 5 pick by any stretch of the imagination.

Carr may well be there @ #26, and please don't go all T-rich over Mason- but good to see yall learned a thang or two about drafting a RB with the #3 overall. Oh, IMO Mason will have a much more productive pro career than Richardson.

  • Clowney

    Watkins

    Yankey

    WSS

  • trade with Falcons

    6.Teddy Twatwater

    26. trade to Tampa for Revis, they are going tampa 2 with Lovie Smith, so man to man coverage wont be happening

    35. Tre Mason

    37. Best Guard AV

  • trade down to 7-9 and pick up another pick and:

    7. evans WR

use the other pick to trade up to 17 (cuz he won't be there at 26):

    17, gilbert CB

    35, best OT on board.

i'd pick up a QB in the 3rd like fales or garoppollo and then fill in the holes.

You just can't "trade down" at your own convenience and we'd have to try to find a willing partner.

In a draft this deep, I don't know if we will find one.

We are sitting at a good spot at #4, teams will want Cloney if he falls to us, and the same for others.

  • 1. Clowney/Watkins/Mack

1a. Find a way to Gilbert.

    2. Mettenburg.

Mettenburger in the second would be a hell of a reach, he'll be there in round 3 and probably round 4.

  • yes. especially coming off the injury and the fact that he isn't that good to begin with.

  • In a world in which Fan'sSpeak on the clock draft simulations could actually happen...

I did the full 7 on the draft simulator and came up with this...

    4. Sammy

    26. Gilbert

    35. Beckham Jr.

    71. Tre Mason

    83. OG Cyril Richardson

    102. CB Keith McGill

    123. Aaron Murray

    133. ILB Max Bullough

    164. OT Seantrel Henderson

    195. DE Aaron Lynch

I realize most of them shouldn't be available like that, but you never know..I passed on Manziel & Teddy @4

  • 1. Bridgewater - If they cant get him at 4 then I am ok trading down (taking best DPA) for an extra 1st next year.

    2. Best defensive player available

    3. Best defensive player available

I am surprised so many want a WR and RB. Since we all love to look at SB winners, I looked at the RBs from those teams over the last 10 years and I am not seeing much. Lynch may be the best RB on a SB winner in a long time and he is nice, not great. Even the WR cores are just ok.

It makes sense if you think about this way. I doubt anybody would disagree QB is the most important position by a ton. I think most would also agree that defense is just about as important as offense. Going a step further, no defensive position impacts a defense the way QB impacts an offense. Essentially, I am saying a good S, or CB, or ILB helps a defense close to equally. Whereas a good QB helps an offense more than an OG, or WR, etc. And since O and D are both equally important, it goes to say ILB, S, CB, etc are slightly more important than WR, RB, etc.

Many like to refer to the Seattle model and this is exactly how they did it! They are really good at QB and defense. And overall mediocre at the other 10 offensive positions.

Also, I am not looking at Bridgewater to a savior, or the next Rodgers (tho itd be nice), or whatever. He just needs be like 12-16th best QB in the league good to justify the pick. And I think he has a pretty high floor.

  • I want a repeat of 1978/79 wherein the Browns got Ozzie Newsome, Clay Matthews, and Cody Risien.

Or, better yet, 1957 when they picked Hall of Famers Jim Brown, Gene Hickerson, and Henry Jordan (but don't let him get away like Jordan), and a Pro Bowl QB in Milt Plum, and a Pro Bowl DE in Laverne Torczon.

Yea. That would work. Three Hall of Famers and a couple more Pro Bowlers. Why not?

I think that would be an acceptable result. It also might keep Ray Farmer in a job for life.

i like defense all the way through. the only offensive players i would draft this year is WR and RB. i think with the departure of DQ we need a dominate LB and who's the best: mack. then i'd try somehow to get the biggest tallest WR with the next pick. then a CB/S with the next, using later round picks to move up if necessary. i wouldn't touch a running back until round 4 or 5.

  • I definitely like Mack at #4 now that DQJ is gone.

After that it's tougher. Really want a nice WR and Xavier Su'a-filo.

Agree we don't need a RB until 4/5 there's plenty of good ones out there.

I'd try to snag Garappolo somewhere too.

Your joking right? That is a horrible, dreadful, abominable first three picks. Bleh. Thank god your not our gm lollercopter. Anyways, I would:

    A) trade down for mack or evans(6 would prob do for mack, bit lower for Evans.) and get another second or possibly another first for next year if we throw a third or fourth in or

B ) take bpa at 4 and that's def not one of the top 3 qbs (i can't help but laugh everytime I refer to them as top 3!) Clowney, Watkins, even the unsexy OT

    And then:

    26) top flight cb or safety (clinton-dix, though he most likely won't make it this far)

    35) ilb (if we don't get mack, say shazier or Borland) or Wr if we don't Watkins or Evans

  • #4 Mack lb Buffalo

    #26 Z Martin OT ND

    #35 Marcus Roberson cb Fla

    #71 Jeremy Hill rb Lsu

    #83 Z Mettenberger qb Lsu

    Positional needs.

Dude I like Jeff Matthews as a projects but you cant be serious about picking him in the 2nd round??

  • Gotta take a QB at 4. Defense does not win games. It helps maintain leads, that is all. JF all the way.
