But I do find it odd how common the sentiment is that you get a team together FIRST and then you add a quarterback. The quarterback is PART of the team... And it happens to be a position that the Browns have really struggled with for a long time.
What I fear, is getting a TEAM together that is pretty decent and then picking mid-draft and never really finding that quarterback that fits later in the first round. If this management team feels as though one of these guys available can be the answer, then get him. Because you never know when you're going to get another chance to do so.

Why can't the guys who are gung-ho on drafting a qb in general, and Johnny Football in particular, get it through their heads DE and WR ARE important? QB is the most important position sure, but he doesn't win games by himself. (Though Weeden managed to lose a few by himself) Flacco, Rothlisberger, Rodgers, Stafford, and Ryan all suck right? Common denominator- none of their teams made the playoffs in the 2013-2014 season, because their teams weren't good enough.
I'm not waiting for Andrew Luck, but I'll take the next Bernie Kosar or Joe Flacco. Besides, the QB NOW camp has already thrown Hoyer under the bus without even giving him more than the two games (that he looked pretty good in) to have a fair shot. That does not make me happy. Does that mean we shouldn't draft a qb this May? Absolutely not, but the question is where.
What did the Broncos do after they lost the SB, with one of the best qbs in the history of the game? Went out and got themselves a CB, LB and safety. DUH. Seems like the Seahawks won the Super Bowl because they were better at those positions, not to mention DE. Or you want to tell me Russell Wilson is a better quarterback than Peyton Manning?

You're making my point except for Wilson. You are correct about him not being a 'kick your ass/truck 'em' QB but his run threat had a lot to do with the 43 points the Hawks put up. Peyton would still have to get more points than 43 to get the trophy. Wilson is not strictly a pocket passer QB and got over 8 ypc. He is a run threat. That keeps opponents guessing and gives his offensive scheme more options than a one dimensional 'pocket passer' scheme.
Like it or not, Kyle Shanahan's offensive scheme is multidimensional.
