We always get new fans when we draft a QB (almost every year) and I have been with the attitude of lets see it.. Texas fans with Colt, Oaky ST. fans with Weeden and so forth.... Some of us are kinda jaded. Johnny is a great College player.... Hoping he does us well.

    By the way Welcome aboard.

That does not bode well for the Browns...taking all those old Southwest Conference School QBs (which is the league the OP still remembers I'm sure)

    Ag,

I'm one of those guys who cheered for Jimmy Brown too. The selection of Johnny has me more than ANY pick since I was 10 years old in 1956. That pick was Jimmy Brown. There are a lot of skeptics out there & I may be wrong about Johnny, but I don't think I am. This kid's skills, intangibles, & determination to keep improving are off the charts.

    BTW, welcome!

    Mike

Actually, getting Bernie Kosar in the supplemental draft was every bit as big as this.....just without the internet connections.

And there was the drafting of LeBron, probably even bigger.

  • I feel like the one thing that will make or break our team is continuity. That goes for coaching and QB. I am hoping Farmer can be to us what Newsome is in Baltimore. Manziel, while I wasn't a fan of his (or a person hoping he'd be drafted by us) has a chance in my mind. I will give him a few years to develop - as I know he is raw and will need time.

This coaching staff reminds me quite a bit of the Steelers under Cowher and Pettine reminds me quite a bit of him as well. They need to stick it out with this staff and let them coach the team up rather than blow it up after 2 or 3 seasons of 5-11, 6-10... I think we will be competing for the division in the next three years and eventually we will take it over if we can keep the concept of continuity.

  • Well, he should. Hopefully he does.

  • Tempering expectations for the fans and media mostly. Otherwise after the first incompletion we'll be hearing the Johnny chant. Granted I'm sure that'll happen regardless but at least Haslem is making the effort.

  • Show the link. I find it hard to believe the owner of the Browns would say that about any player. Sound like bullshit.

& Johnny is such an arrogant prick?

Is there a link to this comment? Kinda hard to believe he would say something like that publically. I don't see a realistic upside to that. Let coaches make that comment. It's not his job to temper expectations for the media and the fans. His job is "to help the team and god willing, things will work out."

Well considering it's his franchise, he can do whatever the hell he wants. He defines what his job is.

    Here is the link

  • "Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam says the Browns have told Johnny Manziel to start acting 'like a backup quarterback.'"

    Translation...

Jimmy Haslam is subliminally telling "the fans" to start acting like JF is the backup quarterback to temper expectations just in case he doesn't win the starting job this season...

    OR

Jimmy Haslam is trying to push Manziel's buttons so he comes into camp hungry and easily takes over the starting job after obviously winning the competetion through the course of the off-season and pre-season...

    OR

    Both

  • He says he will have to beat out Hoyer. No shit.

  • The WKNR rumor mill reports that Farmer had his draft card filled out with Teddy Bridgewaters name and Jimmy Haslam overruled him.

on nothing other than gut feel I beleive this is likely true. When Farmer was asked in a presser why Johnny vs. Teddy he really seemed taken aback and stuttery. I think this is the reason why even though later when specifically asked this he denied it. Of course he did he cant confirm it.

  • That was a waste of my time.

  • Who gives a flying fuck. Manziel is the choice. Quit acting like a bunch of bitches.

  • So there's 5 minutes of our lives we won't be getting back...

    WSS

  • Haslem had nothing to do with it, no influence whats so ever

Ticket sale spike and merchandise demand is insane...plus, despite losing our best player- the browns are the talk of the league.

Farmer is the greatest GM ever !

What player could the browns draft that might create some buzz, start a new conversation, or distract the sports world for awhile...atleast until all the investigations clear our ownership ?

Bermeck ("he just asked questions".... Yeah, B S ... mr farmer- look for my email invite to my FF league...you wizard you)

  • I am so ridiculously torn on the situation.

I have chastised Bridgewater all year and yet, for some reason I think he may actually be the best QB of the bunch now.

    Damn it, we suck again.

  • Who gives a flying fuck. Manziel is the choice. Quit acting like a bunch of bitches.

I'm not bitching. If true Jimmy made the right call.

  • Ah, no worries. Truth is always ridiculed in its intial stage 🙂

Here's another quick factoid: It was the original intention of the producers of Draft Day to feature... the Buffalo Bills... (cue Twilight Zone music)

  • Stupid video or not

It was a "splash" pick to end all "splash picks"

A first year GM, new HC, new staff.... New org chart for the franchise??? It might be gay to call it a conspiracy , but what the hell do you call it??? We trade out of 4 - pass on the best WR ...knowing all along Gordon will be gone.?? unexplainable. It's a nice distraction for farmer as well.... We blew it....farmer was betting on another top receiver being there after his trade...so they went DB. From that point on it was "shock the world Thursday night, then tank the draft" ... Everyone is happy. 4-12

Try to win next year....what's another season ?. Really ?

    Bermeck (tired of losing)
