    Exactly why in the hell!?

By next season it will probably be a little more clear what the exact needs are.

I'll bet dollars to dog turds it won't be another first round QB.back...

    WSS

Which next year is likely to have in spades.

HB I don't think I understood your response.

  • Well then I don't think for a second anybody in charge is thinking about it Mariota or Winston.

If they were they could have taken AJ McCarron.

Or announced they were sticking with Hoyer.

I don't think you draft Johnny football if you are thinking to next year's quarterback draft. Unless, of course, you are an idiot.

Slap the franchise tag on Cameron and draft a tight end next year at 15 or wherever we will pick.

Means that next years crop (at least 1st round crop) of pass rushers and pass catchers are supposed to be good. At least from what I have read.

  • i understand why the bills made the trade for watkins, but what i dont get is that they gave up a solid amount and they are more than one guy away from being a playoff contender.

They aren't far of if they aren't already going to be playing for a playoff spot. They are full of playmakers defensively. Spiller needs to stay healthy and they drafted manuel last season. If his maturation continues on a positive track they are going to be in the hunt.

  • This was an A+ grade for the Browns any day. Look at the history of trading up... in most cases the team trading down ends up with advantage...

A+? You don't know what you are going to have 100% with either of the first round guys. Gilbert is a very good man corner but he's a poor tackler and by a lot of accounts wasn't the best corner in the draft just the most athletic. What surprised me is why the browns traded out of the latter portion of the deepest draft in a decade to load up on picks in next years draft. Bottom line tho all the teams in the north had solid drafts.

  • The Browns said in their defense, the cb's aren't

used in run support like other defenses.

    You can coach tackling, anyways.

You can't coach athleticism. Gilbert is a good bit

    more fluid than Kyle fuller.

He's an amazing talent. Your sour grapes are duly noted.

Sour grapes? If the steelers were to draft a corner in round 1 I wanted fuller because our corners are asked to tackle. Dennard would have been my second choice and only behind fuller because he like gilbert is more of a man corner and the steelers run more zone. Mayock had gilbert ranked 3rd for a while because his unwillingness to tackle. I'm more than pleased with a 4.37 forty at inisde backer next to timmons but thanks. Manziel is gonna have a blast running for his life.

Edit: and manziel is a gamble. You gotta hope he's Russell Wilson but if hes not its back to the drawing board and you are spending another first on a qb. I also couldn't be more pleased with the steelers draft.

c'mon vag. everyone is a gamble.

sorry your draft ranked under ours. the steelers fall and the browns rise hasn't happened as fast as i predicted but take a look out on the horizon and it is as clear as a new sun shining Nword.

  • Couldn't care less about the squeelers draft.

I like the Browns draft - the dramatic impact is expected

this coming season. We have a real, highly respected GM now.

    Watch the difference, and weep.

Your draft was rated below ours on several media sites. We got 4 players that will have an immediate impact in the top 4 rounds and drafted well the rest of the way. As of now its all speculation/opinion. Bottom line the predicted fall of the steelers just isn't going to happen. They just reloaded the dline and finished off the linebacking crew. Sean Spence is also cleared from that awful injury. They then added a ridiculous player in DRI archer in the 3rd and added the tall/burner with martavis Bryant. Speed all over now. Beyond that they gave up 7 sacks in the final 6 or 7 games and just hired a hall of fame lineman to coach up the line. I can admit the browns are improving. Its probably time most of you admit the steelers aren't going anywhere.

Edit: manziel is under 6 feet tall and in a very hard nosed division. I agree there are no guarantees with anyone but he has an uphill battle.

  • The jury is still out on this draft because of the added picks for next year. If one of those 1st round picks brings in Amari Cooper or another WR of that caliber, then the Browns trade with the Bills will be sheer genius. Get the CB you need to complete this D AND the WR you need to stretch defenses thin. Can't beat that. The other two extras are just gravy.

The Browns picked up their talent in the top of the draft where most of the talent actually gets picked They got 6 of the first 96 picks.

I guess they decided they didn't need roster fodder, so they kinda just let it be right there. I would have liked to see another pick or two....but, save for that WR spot, they did a nice job of filling the real needs they had on the team. I guess they will just use different methods to get a WR. (they picked up a couple of UDFA, and now apparently have gotten Earl Bennett....for what he is worth)

Many evaluators had Gilbert the top CB than any other....but a lot of them had him, Dennard, Fuller all pretty much bunched up into the same rank.

I guess any team that took one took the guy that best suited their needs.

Edit: and manziel is a gamble. You gotta hope he's Russell Wilson but if hes not its back to the drawing board and you are spending another first on a qb. I also couldn't be more pleased with the steelers draft.

Sure JFF is a gamble. Thanks Captain Obvious. But then when 50% of all 1st round QBs turn out busts, that can be said of every single one ever taken.

As for the Steelers draft, they did pick up some guys I liked, particularly Bryant.

  • Instead of the standard 7 picks, one in each round, the browns got 5 in the top 3 rounds, plus another who was expected to go there. How is this a bad draft again?

    We got 6.

At least you got one thing right.

OK Dusty Springfield. Keep a wishin' and hopin'.

Sean Spence is also cleared from that awful injury. They then added a ridiculous player in DRI archer in the 3rd and added the tall/burner with martavis Bryant.

Yinz were so impressed with what Josh Cribbs did to you that you hope to duplicat that with another KSU product. Who knows, it might work.

And yes, I would have liked Bryant. He will probably be better for you than Wil Wheaton

Having a Hall of Fame player as a coach doesn't mean you have a Hall of Fame coach. (though it does in the case of LeBeau). The only Hall of Fame players that ever went on to coach (HC) a champion are two guys from the early days: Guy Chamberlain and Curly Lambeau, and Ditka.

(Forrest Gregg and Ray Berry lost Super Bowls)

Edit: manziel is under 6 feet tall and in a very hard nosed division. I agree there are no guarantees with anyone but he has an uphill battle.

Is that jape? Uphill? Harddeee Har Har.

Gilbert was easily the most athletic and tackling can be taught, whereas speed cannot be...

We only traded "out" our 7th pick. As deep as the draft was, while we all had our pet sleepers, it was not 7th round deep. Other picks were used to maneuver to secure players on our board.

I agree that AFCN teams did well with the possible exception of the Bengals. Beyond Dennard I do not see a lot of there there... at least not for 2014. McCarron has a chance to develop.

    As for your Steelers...

Where you're tickled with Shazier... I think you reached for a player on my 2014 Bust list. Where I'd had my fill of fast, underweight ILB... you may have visions of Lambert II... but with all teeth in place. No denying you landed 2014 contributors in Rounds 2 thru 4.

We shall see... and not all that far in the future. Week 1 will be here before we know it...
