Mangini also said that he's exchanged text messages with Willie McGinest. Mangini said a lot of good things about him but speculated that it may take some time before Willie's ready to decide whether he'll play next year.

It could have just been a fluff answer, but he seemed to imply that he'd welcome Willie back next year.

That's kind of disappointing. New era, new system ... don't see any use for McGinest except for as I brought up last year, his worth as a possible coach.

Who's our LB coach?? Bryan Cox is our DL coach, right?

  • Willie McGinest was our best OLB last year. He came on very strong the last half and played very well. I would love for him to come back. He is still our best run stuffing OLB and had some sacks towards the end of the year. If he DOES decide to retire, I would love him as a coach. But if he decides to keep playing, I want him back.

Mangini said during his press conference that some of the remaining positions on his coaching staff will be filled by coaches in the college ranks who felt they couldn't leave their teams before signing day.

My guess is that LB coach is one of them. Last year's LB coach, Mike Haluchak, has already joined the Raiders' coaching staff.

  • I listened to the entire press conference and if you try to take anything from what he said it would be pure speculation.

Everything Mangini said was general and he measured his responses to every question.

He didn't say anything about the QB situation or either QB. He didn't say anything about the status of any player. He wouldn't let himself get cornered about FA, the draft or any possible trades.

All he said is we are working on things and looking at things and evaluating things.

What he did say was that the are trying to figure by position, "musts and then needs" in that order.

Here's the link where Cribbs comments about playing playing defensive back this season.

  • All these guys are no brainers...we want mangini to give us the juicy stuff and we know he has some already but he isnt going to tip his hand until well after he does the one on ones...😉

  • The comments about lewis are weird... maybe he is trying to push him into a trade? although who would want him?

His comments about the players were followed by "and we have to lok at our cap position also".

Everything is speculation but he's may just be saying he likes Lewis but not at his current contract of $6.4 million.

  • These writers seem to think Mangini needs to invite them out to dinner and get their approval or something.

  • Let's face it, the media is going to be skewed with the recent failures. What's funny is, Mangini is much closer to Belichick in demeanor than Butchie, RAC 'n ROLLS or even Palmer.

Now that BB is such a success, the media still doesn't like similar behavior by said coach. I can't imagine Mangini is as over the top as BB was in his tenure here, but I find it funny that some media guys have a sandy vag from one of their own getting laid off, and a guy like Mangini not inviting them out to eat with him to Krispy Kreme.

  • We need the admins to dump these assholes who are touting the BS jerseys or whatever.
