Thanks for bringing it up. All the money spent over the years on the NFL Sunday ticket, Game Tickets, Browns clothing and all the spelled beer.

Let's Give out Awards to the Performances of the Quarterbacks of the Cleveland Browns who have play here since 1999. Once upon a time there was a Fickle Finger of Fate Award given on some TV show...it may have been Laugh-In. I resurrect it here:
Best Overall career performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Tim Couch
Best Single season performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Derek Anderson
Best Single game performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Kelly Holcomb (vs Cincinnati)
Worst Career performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Brady Quinn (yes, even worse than BW3)
Worst Single Season performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Doug Pederson
Worst Single Game performance by a Cleveland Browns QB since 1999: Charlie Frye 2007 Opening Game (so bad they immediately traded him) Honorable mention: Brandon Weeden opening game 2013, 4 interceptions.
Best performance in a season by a veteran brought in to be starter: Trent Dilfer 2005 (4-7 record)
Worst performance by a veteran brought in to be starter: Jeff Garcia
Best performance by a QB in relief of an injured or benched starter: Brian Hoyer 2013 (3-0)
Worst performance by a QB in relief of an injured or benched starter: Tie Ken Dorsey (0-3) 2008 and Seneca Wallace 2011
If you believe someone else should have won one of these awards, please let us know. Or, if you have another category, by all mean give it up.

And interesting....just who was the opponent on that 2007 Opening Game (except it was a home game)? And Browns played all three division opponents within the first four games that year, Ravens the 4th game (but Browns won). Not exactly an easy start to the season was it?

Biggest WTF?!?! moment - Weeden's *second* underhand flip pass in a row
Most 'stand-up' guy - Colt McCoy?

Why did we dump McCoy completely again? Surely he was a good enough backup for us...or is that just creating a bad blood situation?
The 49ers felt good enough with him as backup all the way up to the conference championship game...

Here's the conspiracy version:
There were a lot of people - and careful before we set PG off again - that felt McCoy got shafted when they drafted Weeden. They could have given him another year in the WCO, which to be fair suits his skill set more than Weeden's, and used the 22nd pick on another receiver/blocker and seen what would have happened.
But, that didn't happen, and so there was a portion of the fanbase that wanted McCoy as starter, when Heckert and Holmgren had moved on to Weeden entirely, and just wanted to eliminate any QB debate.
The real reason - his skillset didn't suit Chorv's downfield offense, where Weeden's did, and they wanted other backups who could come in and run the same offense. McCoy's arm is notoriously weak, possibly due to the big shoulder injury he suffered in college, and he would have struggled to run that offense, so when we saw the chance to get some draft pick for him, we took it.

I believe, yes, that McCoy was a mercy pick, seeing that he had already dropped to the mid to lower 3d round, Holmgren had 2 erd round picks and took McCoy....a big name college QB, on a flyer. And that is what he was, a flyer. But once he got into the offense, Holmgren just didn't see the spark in Colt. Weak arm, not enough command of the offense.
So, they wanted a new big armed qb. Enter Weeden.. Had the arm, no doubt. Did not, apparently have the ability to grasp the offense or make that big arm work accurately enough for him. So, Sayonara BW3.
Now in comes JFF. Built a bit more like McCoy, slightly shorter, somewhat more moblile. A much better arm than McCoy. As strong as Weeden's? Probably not. But hopefully he is much more adept at reading defenses and in his accuracy.
So, the Fickle Finger of Fate Award in the category of:
QB in which the most hope for the future is placed: John Manziel.

Nice job in a losing effort, but Derek Anderson threw 5 TDS in 51-45 win over Cincy, that has to be the best.

OK, maybe I am confuse. I thought that was Kelly Holcomb in that game? He was in a shootout with the Bengals.

Holcomb lost a shootout with the Bungles in 2004, 58-48 when he threw 5 TDs and 2 Ints.
Anderson won a shootout with the Bungles in 2007, 51-45 when he threw for 5 TDs and 1 Int.
It was the first game after Frye was traded and Anderson was given the job much to the chagrin of Quinns Queefs.

Do you guys think that Jake Delhomme would give Garcia a run for his money on this one? I remember everyone being really excited about him coming in before he got hurt and never really played again.

Jake was 2-2 as a starter for the Browns....compared to like Garcia's 3-9 or the like.
In reality, you might pop Dilfer/Garcia/Delhomme all in the same pot and it wouldn't matter who you pull out for best or worse.
I did not consider Jason Campbell in this category as he was not brought here to be the starter. (but his 1-7 record as a starter could get him the "worst of" trophy.

Thad Lewis had the best QBR.

Worst attempt to get out from under our Flag.....Weeden (That's when I knew for sure we were in trouble)
