Browns waive DB Jamoris Slaughter

I just think that most people overrated Heckert and Holmgren. The Big Show was an arrogant, lazy, piece of shit who was out of town more than he was there. Heckert did make some good picks, but he really whiffed on others. The TRich and Weeden moves were huge failures. His FA record was pathetic. He gave away draft picks when he didn't need to. He also reached on too many players.
Now, I will be waiting for your reply that will be filled more w/middle school language than w/intelligent banter.
I will replay even if others don't. My reply is that I fairly well agree with you about Holmgren.
And partly about Heckert. Heckert had good picks, and whiffed on others. But overall I would say that his track record may have been about as good as anyone around. All GMs are gonna miss on some....and hit on some.
All, apparently, except Lombardi. He missed on like every single pick his first time around....and his one chance the second time around is not looking good. Right now he has Barkeivious Mingo to serve as his legacy. Now, I hope Mingo helps him out by playing great. And maybe Gilkey can be a contributor. But, overall, a pretty nasty record that boy has.
-
So your counter to "pure numbers" (which are somehow different from facts) is that Lombardi had fewer picks to screw up?
OK, and lets recall that Lombardi had fewer picks to screw up because he traded his picks for future picks. Part of his reasoning for doing that is because A. he was too lazy to do a lot of the scouting himself, and B. he did not trust the staff he had leftover from Heckert to make all those picks, preferring instead to defer them to the following year when he had his own staff in place. Well, lo and behold, it seems that Jimmy Haslam didn't trust HIM with those picks that he traded for, preferring to put them in the hands of Ray Farmer. So, now we shall see.

I don't know who Piano is over here. I probably do on dawtalkers having been a member there pretty much as long as I have had a home PC. They aren't trying to poach members. They just aren't accustomed to a board like this. Just as I wasn't when I first wandered over here 4-5 years ago. I have learned how to wade through the BS and pick and choose my comments and fights. There is a time and place for a board with structure, and a time a place for a board with loose boundaries.
You have been on here longer than 4-5 years peen. You were a regular here before I was. It has to be like 10 years anyway. Just saying.

It got me curious. A check of the record says Oct 2008....so more like 5-6 years rather than 4-5

Zomboni and Tim are both bitches. And if you haven't noticed, Z loves getting facials and blowing cum bubbles. That's all the fat fuck thinks about, hot loads exploding on his face.
Well, like Steve says, I'm not fat. But I must attract those with gay fantasies because you only come out of your hole when someone takes a swing at me and then you jump in and the fantasies roll.Zomboni and Tim are both bitches. And if you haven't noticed, Z loves getting facials and blowing cum bubbles. That's all the fat fuck thinks about, hot loads exploding on his face.
You are like the Retarded buddy in a street fight that keeps his mouth shut like a pussy and then comes up and kicks the other dude like a girl when the fight starts.
Except instead of kicking you type explicit gay fantasies.

He don't need no help. He's already been served. I served him. He's taken care of. He's a little slow, but he got it. See, what he thought was he can come up here and make the rules. But now, he see that Jay make the rules at Smart Tech, that I run this bitch, and now he 'bout to bounce!
Why are you speaking like a thug?
You didn't school me at all. Of course, Heckert was going to have more players on the team. He was there 3 times as long. Lombardi also didn't have a second rounder from the Gordon trade and he lost picks from the TRich trade. He also acquired more picks for the 2014 draft.
Yet, you choose to ignore all of those facts and present pure numbers. That's objective brilliance.
I was not a fan of Lombardi. However, the new regime cutting a 6th round pick is not proof of him sucking. Btw---------I was mistaken when I typed Carlton Mitchell---I meant the DE from Minnesota that Heck was so high on...what was his name? Jamie Mitchell?

Numbnuts still doesn't get it.
Cutting his sixth round pick isn't proof, his entire draft record over the past 20 years is proof.
He had a chance to redeem himself last year, but the players he picked arent working out ... again.
You have no idea how I felt about Heckert, all of the other Lombardi draft picks I discussed, or anything in general we have already discussed over the past 15 years ... you just swung through the saloon doors and started talk shit like you were in the middle of Heckert/Lombardi debate or something.
It was stupid. You came off stupid. Your boytoy came running in to tell us how great you are on some other board that crashed.
Sorry, that happens all the time, pussies come in here and cant hang and then they are gone. We like it that way.
Go back to DawgGobblers and tell everyone how I completely judged Mike Lombarardi's 20 year career on one 6th round pick and you called me out on it, and I'm sure you'll be a big hero. King of the Pussies even.
Run boy, run!

Just the facts here Z, from assorted sources.
Lombardi joined the Browns as a scout in 1987 before rising to director of pro personnel in 1989 and director of player personnel in 1993. In coach Bill Belichick’s five drafts from 1991-95, the Browns were never slated to pick lower than 10th overall but selected just one Pro Bowler.
He had one great draft with the Eagles in '98, but that's partially attributable to Broadus, not Mike. Minus him, he sucked.
In 2006, Art Shell called-out personnel director Michael Lombardi and banned Lombardi from the practice field for, "rooting against the team." After the 2-14 season, Shell was let go, as was Lombardi as personnel director for the Raiders
As Lombardi's last move on Draft Day in 2007, he orchestrated the trade of WR Randy Moss to the Patriots, (one of the worst trades ever, IMHO) and the acquisitions of QB Josh McCown and WR Mike Williams from the USC offense of new coach, Lane Kiffin.
Let's not forget Lombardi's parting shot to the Browns either. I forgot he tried to give away the ranch to get Harbaugh from the 49ers. No Gilbert or Manziel.
There's some of the reasons he was working for NFLN for years- any owner with a modicum of intelligence knew he was rat poison in the front office. Why did Banner hire him? Based on one draft with the Eagles, and hmmmm.... He just happened to be Joe's Best Man at his wedding. Mike is now gainfully employed by Mr. Cameragate, fetching his other big buddy Bill B's coffee. Haslam gave Banner enough rope to hang himself, and hiring Lombardi did it. Joe knew bringing in Lombardi was going to go over like a lead balloon with Browns fans- some of us have long memories of why the team has been a train wreck for decades.

October 2008 was when the "reboot" of this board occurred when everyone's membership was restarted. Stan or one of the admins would have to give the date....and the reason for that. The board actually goes back to early 2000s...after many left the AOL board.
I mean, on those boards you could say "poopy pants" to a cowardly Steeler fan and they would report you.and try to get your AOL subscription cancelled. I know, it happened to me a couple of times.

Most certainly was not.

"Poophead", maybe, using the former syllable instead
of the "s" word, to keep the verbage somewhat civilized....

Frosty. Spoon. We fuck dwarves in the ass.
It's from a movie.
You're right, Heckert was in Cleveland three times as long. That's the point. He wasn't fired after one year. He drafted back to back Pro Bowlers with his first two picks as Browns GM. Lombardi did not. Lombardi couldn't even manage to draft one starter.
I didn't ignore the fact that Lombardi had less picks. It's a foregone conclusion that he had less picks, being that he was only here for one season.
At no point did I mention Mike Holmgren. I firmly believe that the Brandon Weeden pick was purely because of Holmgren. Holmgren merely came to Cleveland to collect a paycheck.
At the end of the day, there are still starters left over from the Heckert drafts. There aren't any from Lombardi's. Heckert may have whiffed on Richardson and Weeden but Haden, Ward, Cameron, and Gordon more than make up for those egregious errors.
You're criticizing Heckert on trading for Jayme Mitchell? Heckert gave up a sixth round pick for Mitchell, when we were seriously thin along the defensive line.
Let me get this straight... you're going to shit on Zombo for criticizing a sixth round pick...then chastise Heckert for one of his sixth round picks...and then, when you get called out for it, you're going to make up some excuse about confusing two players and bring up yet another player that was had for a sixth round pick?
You are out of your league. Go back to your kiddy board and talk about how mean we are over here.

Actually, Vers is pretty sharp. Been BS'n with him on boards since maybe 2000-2001.

Yes
-
Aw man, I used to know Vers from back in the day on the official board.. got banned for life though. 🥷
Vers is a good dude though. Smart football knowledge. He can teach you a few things. I can't tell you what but I'd venture that we could all teach a little something to each other in one way or another.

It's a shame Slaughter was injured and didn't capitalize on his chance to lock down a safety spot. I was hoping he would stick, he's got a sick name anyways. But, I'm still pissed that Lobotomy and Golem passed on Mathieu and took McFadden instead. Idiots. Also they wiffed on Burfict, anybody could see it from a mile away that guy was going to be pretty badass.

Boyfriend? How old are you? And you are an administrator on this board? LMAO
The people on DawgTalk won't know who you are. I don't know who you are, other than you are coming across like a freaking punk w/a big mouth and an insecurity complex.
You made an ignorant post. I called you on it. You and Timid then proceeded to act like middle school kids w/inferiority complexes.
Lombardi has sucked for most of his career. However, the Slaughter pick is not proof of that, despite your claim.
Heckert made some good picks. He made some terrible picks. He reached too many times. His FA record was terrible. Mike Adams was not good enough, but Usama Young was? Hysterical.
Hopefully, DawgTalkers will be back up tomorrow and I can actually read some football posts. I might frequent this board just to rattle your short chain, though.
Have a nice day.
Vers.....let me introduce you to Zombo....Zombo....to Vers
Vers.....Zombo is a good guy.....To the Lot!
Zombo.....Vers has great knowlege of the game....don't dismiss that. He's a good guy. In the world of the Net, I'll always stand up for Vers
Vers......this board is different is all I can say.....minimal moderation. When I first showed up here I found it odd as well....but then again, here you can say what you want and it takes a lot to get a detention around here.
