Well, in a certain sense I understand what Pats fans talk about. They did not win their first championship until like their 41st year of existance. The Browns won championships in their first 5 years of existance.

Their length of time waiting is not dissimilar to how long the Browns have to wait.

And also.....lets be clear....the Patriots have NOT won the title now in 10 years.....and I honestly don't see them winning again in the near future. Sure, they will always have a chance as long as Brady is playing up to the way he has played in his career. But how long can that last now that he is like 37 years old?

And that team is not really getting much better around him, is it?

But, no, the Pats fans never had to endure the heartbreak Browns fans have had to......though these last two losses in the Super Bowl....when I believe each time they were the better team, were a bit devastating.....in an objective sense. But I feel no pity for Boston area fans for having lost those. They have been far too lucky overall with wins by their teams in the last 10 years to feel any sorrow for. Fuck them.

I think the same brilliant head coach who brought them three Super Bowl wins is now precipitating their fall. He has appointed himself GM and outside of first round picks and a few late-round hits hasn't drafted very well. I can't imagine Lombardi is going to make the situation there much better. I'll enjoy wearing my brown and orange in patriots country when we are better than them in a few years.

We were better than them last year....except for a ridiculous breakdown at the end of the game.

  • How does your state view the Browns? Are they respected? Laughed at? Etc.

I live in California and there is not a single person that thinks the Browns are good. Not on defense not on offense not ever. All they really know is Jim Brown. And now Johnny Manziel. And I get it. They haven't had much to talk about in years but still they will put ever other team above the Browns on any type of level. It's annoying. Any other people outside of ohio?

I live in L.A County California, and the Browns are not highly thought of by most, but we do have some die hard fans here.

Die hard? Actually never say die

The fans are recognized as either the best or one of the best fan bases in football, and rightly so.

Almost everytime I meet another Brown fan here, it's like we already know each other.

I'm in Boston and most people just feel sorry for me. Last year's come-from-behind victory for the Patriots against the Browns didn't help. And shameful as it was, I was telling Patriot fans not to leave the stadium because they were about to witness one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history (I just knew it was going to happen). I only wish that the final field goal attempt didn't come up about 5 yards short. Campbell played a good game, but the defense collapsed in the 4th quarter.

Nonetheless, Bostonians can pity me all they want; being a Browns fan is about resilience during difficult times. When we do start winning games and perhaps championships again, we will know that we were loyal during the tough times and that will make the good times even sweeter!

    Go Browns!!

Browns fan hear in Boston area too. We just visited the football museum at Gilette Stadium and watched the movie about the Patriots "struggles" through the years to win the Super Bowl. My brother and I were like yeah you poor Pats fans have had it so hard lol. When they have The Drive, The Fumble, and the Move they can come cry us a river and talk to us about football resilience!

Seems like sports, with a healthy dose of drinking and druggin, is a huge part of Boston/NE culture. Sox fans are prolly some of the most intense. the Celtic's tradition is solid

with memories of iconic players and their amaziing championship runs. I have been exposed (like an std) to some hardcore celt fans and would have no problem spending hours

talking about the glory and the pride of that which is Boston basketball. Pat fans are, ummm, just that - Pats fans.

Those bostonians who piss and moan about their trials and tribulations merely need to recall the first decade of the new millenium during which the pats won three rings along with

the sox. oh yea, lets not forget about the Bruins and Celts who sport championship rings from the 20 0's. A serious ear punch should be delivered to any New Englanderl who isn't

    satisfied with their teams perfomances

I kid you not, I know Pats fans who talk about how "bad" their team is even as they make the playoffs every year.

  • boston is where i finally grew up a bit after a big swift kick in the ass from my family. discharged from fort devens i still had a lot of friends in the area and found myself in the position of a lifetime. lived in milton and was infamous for the guy sitting behind the bruins bench during a rangers game and just mouthing "what the fuck" all game long. not kidding. went into a bar the next day and i ordered a drink and the bartender goes "aren't you that guy that was behind the bench....." i guess because i was wearing an orange indians jersey i had to pay double...?

BTW if you've ever smelled a bad gym bag, imagine smelling a trough of hockey players/bb players uniforms downwind. reminds me of walking through the stables at saratoga.

  • Saratoga is the bomb. One of the best tracks around. I remember (sort of) standing in the para mutual lines waiting to place a winning supertrifecta wager only to forget what the

bet was when I got to the window. Used to go on some hellacious outings there

I live in the middle of nowhere in the North Cotswolds in England, between me and another member on this board, G-Man, we have flown the flag in our area many times and I now have enough people interested in the Browns to consider opening a BBW chapter - North Cotswolds browns backers, got a nice ring to it. Finding a venue to watch the games is pretty impossible so I need to decide if I want drunken idiots in my home every Sunday - hmmmmm. probably not.

There needs to be a yearly England-wide meet up! Whereabouts exactly are you?

Me and my buddy live about 15 miles south of Stratford on Avon - I know the London based BBW club but I never get to London for games so have never met them. A few of them have been assholes too so I am wary of a few groups they belong to!! If the Browns come to Wembley - then you're on!

A friend of mine now lives in Banbury, which I guess is about there?

I haven't met up with the backers group as of yet. I'm on their facebook page, but there doesn't seem to be much action, and not many regulars.

I'd say if we make it to the playoffs it might be worth a meetup!

For sure - however - if we make the post season, I'll be flying to CLE! well maybe for the superbowl! Banbury is about 40 mins away so not that far. Where in london are you?

I'm from London and that's where I met the guy that converted me into a Browns fan. He was from Cuyahoga Falls - married an English girl - he's back in Ohio now. That was 1988 - it's been a hard journey but an enjoyable one. I am confident that we will see a SB win before my 40th anniversary of browns fandom.

Re other UK BBW clubs - I'm not interested. Me and my mate G were asked to do a video at the Browns stadium a few years back and the abuse we got for it from so called Browns fans was unreal. It was out of the blue and shocking - so they can go fuck themselves for all I care. They are not all assholes but enough are. I'll stick to my real Browns pals in Ohio!

  • I'm in Bermondsey at the moment. It's nice and quiet, and easy to get to the office in Canary Wharf, so ticks all the boxes for me! Originally from Bedford though.

Seriously, people gave you stick for that? Idiots. I'm a Browns fan loosely through family I have around Columbus, and of course Randy Lerner being owner (for now) of my beloved Aston Villa. But it feels like I'm getting on board at the right time, it feels like big things are coming our way soon, I'm really like the Farmer/Pettine duo we stumbled into!

There were one or two other Brit yumping yidiots that gave Howie and G-Man shit about being the Brits that were on camera representing UK Browns fans. To me it seemed like pure jealousy. There were other UK Browns fans that didn't react that way, so it was just a couple of assholes (or what is your version of calling someone and asshole)

We here on this side were very pleased to see Howie and G-Man do that video.

By the way guys, WSS and I have a high school classmate friend that lives and works in Bristol.

Not sure how close that would be to you, Howie.

I know it is a bit of a fair piece to Lundene.

    i like your style!

BTW, I have cousins in Ireland and they don't mind taking vacations. They'd be happy to talk to the communists that gave you a ration of shit. I saw the video. It was well done

and captured all that is good about loyal Browns fans.

The only way I can tell a Steelers fan from a Browns fan is...the Steelers fan has 6 rings.

Yes, and the fans of Northeast Ohio teams have 13 rings....there is a definite difference there.

So you need more education on this subject?

Actually the difference is that you experienced none of them....so tell me your dad is rich after I wave a wad of $100 bills in your face LOL.

A 58yr. old Pittsburgh fan for example in his lifetime would have experinced Pittsburghs pro teams bringing 11 championships to the city...a 58 yr. old Cleveland fan 0. (I'm not counting the 1960 Pirates either)

That's pretty sad, I don't care how you want to spin it.

A classic example of the haves and the have-nots.

Looks like the Indians got something good goin on though.

  • I'm in Northern Japan. I have about 4 friends nearby that we watch the brownies together. Being that I am military it helps lol! I grew up 20 mins from youngstown.

  • To be honest, I meet a lot of americans that are generally passing through - on placement, internship, studying for 6 months or a year or so. Whenever I tell them I'm a browns fan, the general reaction is, "oh man, I feel for you" followed by "you could pick any team, why them?!"

Actually, not true. I experienced 3 of them....probably more than you have experienced Steelers titles.

Sure...you had the dumb fucking luck to be from Pittsburgh....and that's it. You didn't contribute a cabbage fart to any of those titles...any more than I have contributed to any of the bad teams we have had.

Looks like the Indians got something good goin on though.

If you think playing .500 ball is "something good".
