brady quinn dropped to 22. it was so embarrassing they had to put him in the crying room.
i thought for sure if we would have passed on manziel @22 that's where he would have ended up but he came out flashing the money sign.
kid's got moxie i'll give him that.
sheeiit.

Remember Brady Queen also sat out a lot of the training camp before he signed.

has anyone looked at hoyer's career.?
his greatest accoimplishment? Big 10 honorable mention.
this just baffles me.
you have 1 QB that might be able to make you a Super Bowl contender,
it ain't the guy who's been released twice, coming off a torn ACL and started something like 4 games in 5 years.
but, hey, some people like 7-2 if they're suited, good luck with that.

Because no one has ever succeeded after a mediocre career in the Big Ten (Tom Brady)
Because no one has ever ever succeeded after failing with other teams (Jim Plunkett, Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson,Doug Williams, Steve Young)
Because no one has ever floundered anonymously before shocking the world (Kurt Warner)
If you keep cutting Brian Hoyer down, your boy is going to look real bad if he can't beat him out.
Glad I am a Browns fan, I win either way ... rather than a fan of a dude. Kinda creepy.

IMHO, excellent post Zombo. I am a Fan of both Hoyer & Manziel. While I believe Manziel is our QB of the future, like you I root for & support the Browns TEAM & I trust our current regime with the decisions to take us forward.

It was just interssting to realize that in 10 seasons.. He won 7 championships.. thats unheard of.. thats like finishing 70% for his career.. good stuff Gipper.

Yeah- Grahams accomplishments get lost in the mists of time. Graham played in the highest level Championship game every year he played professional football.
Can you imagine the ESPN hype today if a quarterback played in 10 straight Super Bowls?

That would make RG3 and JFF coverage look like pre school...I cant imagine the hording the media would bring on someone if that happened today...Brady might be the closest in that regard....also..I took notice of Grahams winning percentage thats a staggering .810..... Unheard of,even by todays standards.

Well, BK was a FA I believe- and yes I was rooting for Bernie to do well- just to spite Bill B, but I didn't become a Cowboys fan. Call it casual interest.
Yea, well, think about it, BB cut BK in favor of Todd Philcox. Do you think Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones would have given Todd Philcox a contract for a million dollars to play backup for the rest of that season for them? Unlikely.
So, yes, that sparked some interest in how Bernie would do that year. But I still was rooting for the Bills to win that year, not the Cowboys.
But, you know....in a sense, I am somewhat just like Everlast........He is rooting for the QB that came from his school (I assume T-A&M is his school) that was drafted by the Browns.
I too had the opportunity to root for a QB from my school that was drafted by the Browns.......by the name of Charlie Frye. And we know how that turned out.
Let's hope that JFF does not turn out to be the next Charlie Frye.
(but, you know, I am fearful there is a chance he just might)

Charlie's Fryes. I remember it well.
I have nothing but a hunch that Johnny Football is going to be a great Quarterback. Think he will be the starter after Bye week.
If the Browns are 0-3 you're going to get your wish.
There is only 1 QB on the roster with the upside to win a Super Bowl.
What else matters?
A little less JFF love and more objectivity would be a start. Hey, I'm an Ohio State homer- remember Dan Wilkinson (doubtful) the next Bruce Smith? Didn't quite work out that way.
Two words- Kurt Warner. Remember him? Grocery bagger washout. BTW, the Browns passed on him in the expansion draft his stock was so low.
You Johnny lovers gonna have conniptions when he doesn't start day 1? Here's a clue- it's Training Camp- preseason- which doesn't mean jack shit when the REAL season starts. If you Johnny homos start creaming your pants over his amazing exploits in the next couple months, I'm not quite certain what us Mods will have to do.

this season he will fit nicely between the QB coach and the 3rd stringer on the sidelines holding a clipboard.
just a little punch in the gut to start the day....

“When he walked down the street people would’ve looked and they would’ve said there goes Johnny Manziel, the best there was in this game.”
So? You think he can outdo OGs record of 7 titles in 10 years?

The Black Hole is where the Raiders fans congregate. Are you saying that he would be no better than some fan?

It's a moot point. It's like asking "do you walk to work or carry your lunch". The common denominator is pretty easy to find
Johnny
Brandon
Brady
Tim
What is that common denominator? Just the fact that they were all first round QB picks by the Browns? By your comment are you implying that JFF will go the route of Quinn/Weeden?

The debate seems to be whether he will be a super star this year or if it will take a year or two? Is there a chance he becomes the latest bust in a long line of QB's in Cleveland?
Is it possible the NFL will be too fast, too strong, too smart, for him?
Is it possible his lifestyle will be what he ends up being known best for?
Is it possible the Browns use him incorrectly and destroy his chance at stardom?
The answer is certainly yes to all those questions. Anything IS possible....including that he could become a Superstar....or maybe a decent QB.

Aside:
Can't wait for the 2014 edition of "This Week in the AFCN".
You're goin' down... at least vs. the spread...
I'm going to Vegas during prime NFL season in early November so I can't wait to start practicing with the browns board spread this year. I bet last year and failed epically so I'm going to pay a lot closer attention to how it all usually breaks down.

In the Yahoo game we use Yahoo's line. I use it in the AFCN picks as well while Z uses a mystery line...

This site gives all the casino lines.

When Bernie was traded to Dallas, I was pissed, but I didn't become a Cowboys fan.
Therefore you were a Bernie hater...

That the upside you see is real and not a mirage?

If he keeps his head on a swivel and doesn't do anything dumb... The sky is the limit for the DragonSlayer.

Peter MacNicol is our QB? Pa-pa-pa-pa-Poughkeepsie...
Yeah- Grahams accomplishments get lost in the mists of time. Graham played in the highest level Championship game every year he played professional football.
Yup... while we may know he was great, we don't remember how dominant he was.
But to me even more startling in that Wiki-chart is that our two, modern-day icons were both a mere 2 games over .500. While three names only those of us of a certain age even know all won at least two-thirds of their games.

Would've??? Damn, I thought JM was a lock, but instead he's football's Roy Hobbs?
You'd better pray for the movie version. Things did not work out so well for either the book Hobbs or the real life inspiration for the novel, Eddie Waitkus.
