Ray Rice is having a good laugh about this. Maybe it will save his old lady from her Wednesday beating.

Ray just smacked his ole lady once up side the head for the fuck of it.

Goodell is sticking to his strict "2 Games per woman punch" policy. The Ravens are just glad he didn't unload a combo.

Can you stop posting this like a 14-year old? It's clearly not the case. It's about repeated offenses. Let the adults talk.

  • So if he is found guilty of the DUI, what does the league policy call for since he is already on a year suspension for drug policy violation?

Do they have a death penalty that precludes ever playing again for JG? 😮

The Browns took a chance on a talented player who already had the same problems while at Baylor. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and move on.

May be wrong, but I believe he has essentially gotten "the death penalty" since all he is entitled to do in one year is apply for reinstatement.

Don't know about Cochran, but sure sounds like something Jackie Childs would say...

Hmmmm... Risk vs Reward... Risk = another suspension. Reward = Hall of fame talent

I think he is worth the risk... and I'm nowhere near cutting him yet if I'm the Browns...

    Agree 100%...

    @everlastingxxx said:

The risk is having another camp full of Gordan distractions and risking the chemistry of the team.

No chance of that... those are Johnny's jobs... 🙂

... Gordon should have known to dodge the shit with a 100ft pole.

I think the one point that was made in an earlier thread (that I have not seen here) is that the levels in Josh's "positive test" were consistent with his second hand smoke claim.

  • Such bullshit

  • The logic of some people here's. The guys is a turd and got what he deserved.

How many times do you have to break the rules before you get the point?

    Hopefully twice
  • I don't believe he genuinely failed the test. I don't think with those results, one can come to that conclusion. Nothing to do with Ray Rice... Gordon wasn't smoking. And the tests should have been considered inconclusive.

    It's a fucking joke.

  • i don't know whether he has any standing to sue...but he should get the best lawyer he can find, locate a receptive judge, and sue the bastards anyway...gordon is getting screwed, that's for sure.....

  • @jrb12711 said:

Before I go on an uneducated rant, what if any precedent does Gordon have for a lawsuit against the NFL? I'm the first to admit the kid is a knucklehead who has made a lot of questionable decisions. But this whole process from start to finish reeks of incompetance and flat out questionable ethics from the NFL league office. I'd be absolutely incensed right now if I was the Browns organization over this whole fiasco.

Simply put... Ohio Labor Law says his test (if the reported "levels" are accurate) was negative b/c of a "below level" screen on the "B" bottle, but the NFL SA Policy says it's positive b/c of "any presence" of THC in the "B" Bottle. According to Federal Law, the Ohio Labor Law outweighs the NFL SA Policy...

He could file for a Restraining Order, which would halt the suspension, while the legal process plays out...

If that were the case, and he won, he would still face a possible suspension for the DUI; however, that is part of the Personal Conduct Policy and has nothing to do with the SA Policy, and that case was postponed until late November.

Screw Ohio Labor law. The law should pertain to all players equally, across the NFL. I hate to see him gone, but fuck him. He was a dumb ass and now he payin.

Why the fuck are you still here?

  • Josh Gordon broke rules & will pay the price. It's that simple. Never mind the most recent test(s), he should never have put himself in that position. He shouldn't have continued to associate with those who jeopardized his future. Hopefully, he will learn.

The bigger problem, as I see it, is Roger Goodell. The Browns, thanks to his inept & inconsistent handling of this situation & others (ie the woman beater), may be the ones hurt most by his foot dragging. Regardless how much money he supposedly makes for the owners, he continues to compromise the integrity of this game & that will cost Fans. I just hope the Owners fire his ass before he drags this sport totally down. He preaches safety, yet Suh is allowed to stomp on & mug players & pay chump change for doing it. Meriweather sits 2 games for his SIXTH head to head hit. Before, it was mere fines. I say fine them AND suspend them a game for every game missed by someone they have injured with a cheap shot. And no, Roger, I do NOT want 18 games, nor do I want an NFL Team in Europe. This is AMERICAN football! The NFL belongs HERE! Roger talks one game & plays another. IMHO, he's a damn hypocrite!

If the Owners fire Goodell, not only would I be one happy old SOB, but our game would be rid of a cancer.

    Mike

  • I dunno guys. My first reaction was "shiiiiiiit."

But this has dragged on so long that it didn't take much time for "fuck it, let's do this" to kick in.

It's always felt us against the world, so it's not like anything's changed. It's up hill every year.

Let's see what this team's made of.

    Go Browns!

I know I'm wasting my breath. But it's not for weed smoking. It's for repeated violations of a clear rule.

And that rule is that it is illegal to have controlled substances in your blood while employed by the NFL.

A guy passes 70 drug tests over the last year and one inconclusive test is enough for a year's banishment. It is ridiculous.

I agree completely. I am the first to say he needs to make better decisions and change his crowd. This test "failure" however is ridiculous. It is hard for me to even believe the micro fraction by which he failed is within the repeatable tolerance of the test.

For the people saying he is a turd, he got what he deserved etc I posted and bitched plenty like you until I saw he passed 70 tests prior to this. In addition the length of time to hear the appeal and reach a decision was nothing short of negligent on the part of the NFL. They fucked the organization, the players personally and all the fans by dragging it out.

Not only should Josh Gordon file an injection the team and fans should as well. Goodel is doing his damnsest to turn football into a pussy game in a militia rule environment. For those of you who believe Ohio labor law should or doesnt have anything to do with it thats ridiculous. It is his legal righg to appeal within the confines of the law that applies.

Outside of this "failure" I would not ask for a second for special treatment for the DUI if he is convicted.

  • I don't think it's an issue that Gordon got suspended. He is an idiot and reaps what

he sows. The issue here is the severity of the punishment as opposed to leniency

shown to Ray Rice even though it is an entirely different situation.

Not only is Ray Rice's punishment an issue but remember the New Orleans Saints

a few years ago? Sean Payton and Greg Williams were rewarding guys for

purposely hurting or maiming a player on the field. They encouraged it and

rewarded it. They were only suspended for one year also the same as Gordon.

Somehow the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

I believe that the punishment for a conviction on domestic violence should be more severe than 2 games. That said its unrelated to the Gordon discussion. What is relevant to the Gordon issue is the minute reading on one of two samples and the likeliehood he truly did not smoke. Honestly Gordon and the rest of the players should be furious with their own union for agreeing to such a ridiculous set of test criteria in comparison with that of the Olympics, baseball and even the federal government.

  • Wow, the ignorance of some of you Browns Fans surprises me.

I understand being angry or upset, but not against Gordon... aim that shit at Godell for being a chicken shit and not holding Gordon's appeal personally.

What? You seriously think that in the midst of taking 70 fucking drug tests Gordon wakes up one morning and is like, "maybe I won't get tested this month?" Are you that seriously fucking Retarded to think that? The samples didn't match... retest him then you fucking morons. When 1+1=3 you just blindly accept it and don't question what is going on?

...Yeah, okay but Josh Gordon is the dummy right?

  • Gordon will play all 16 games and week one...

    Im waiting for the injunction

I remember years ago, Bill Parcells cut Quincy Carter of the Cowboys right before the start of the season because he had been suspended because of weed. His thoughts were that you couldnt trust him anymore. The risk is having another camp full of Gordan distractions and risking the chemistry of the team. I wouldn't want that dark cloud looming over my franchise anymore. I also think the kid needs a wake up call. He will have to get his act together if he wants another team to take a chance on him. Just my opinion.

btw, Carter later that year had a drug relapse with the Jets.

Getting kicked out of the league for a year isn't enough of a wake up call? He's got two choices- clean up his act, find new friends, or wind up like a Ricky Williams\ Justin Blackmon might-have been.

I'm not so mad that they took a hard line against Gordon, as the fact the NFL royally screwed the Browns in the process.

The NFL is doing players suspended for drugs a serious disservice, not allowing them access to the very best in drug counseling by the league- so they can continue their careers at a later date. As far as I'm concerned- they should be allowed to attend meetings and work out- just not play in games and get paid- their choice.

Of course, the Browns aren't going to trust Gordon anymore- they'll certainly draft a WR high next year- and MHO is they should have drafted Watkins this year, with 20\20 hindsight. But comparing a journeyman QB to a guy who led the league in receiving yards-? Get real.
