The great Rugby rivalry. South Africa vs. New Zealand. Dramatized in the movie with Morgan Freeman as Mandela and Matt Damon as the top SA rugby player. Can't recall the name of the movie.

    Invictus.

OK gft, since you didn't want a Browns/Steelers debate on a Steelers thread, tell us all about that SA vs. NZ rivalry. Is it the best going in the Rugby world, or is there like a Euro rivalry you would want to promote over it. Or maybe NZ vs. Fiji or Samoa?

  • Had to Google that DBone

Dammit, I had to google it as well.

    Vagi arguing with Gipper?

Never heard vagi sound so hopeless and helpless...

  • Vag is like a 5 year old trying to argue with Einstein about chemistry.

I haven't read all the replies but you give Gipper entirely too much credit. It's part of the reason he posts like his sh.it doesn't stink.

To be honest, I've never even heard of it until today. 😊

    Good flick... but predictable.

Unless you haven't gone to a movie in 25 years or so you should be able to guess who they tabbed to play Mandela in Invictus. 😉

Good contrast to Stallone's sports movie, Victory... which was very bad... and predictable...

Whether or not they are warranted in giving me too much credit, they are certainly warranted in giving you none at all.

As for whether or not my shit stinks, you are one who should know. I have been feeding it to you along and you consume great mass quantities of it.

(Also note that the Vag chicken assed out on the challenge)

But still had to have a great understanding of chemistry to understand elements on the molecular/atomic level.

Surely. But my head is too full of foolish football information to comprehend all that.

It started as an 'FYI, these guys are out for at least a while' and it ends up with specifically you and one of our resident steeler fans going on and on and on and on and descend pretty quickly in to personal attacks rather than actually talking about the issue at hand - how will their LB corps cope without Jones/Shazier? Will Harrison make up for any of that loss? How about the already-suspect secondary without Ike?

Anyway, no, Fiji and Samoa don't have a full team worth a damn, so there's no real rivalry there. They're lethal in 7s, but in the full game, not so much. European rivalries are big, but not probably as big as AUS/NZ, I think. England and whichever other british team is doing well at the time is usually the rivalry. It's obviously got historical implications, but England/Scotland isn't that big, because Scotland haven't been good for a long time. France are just a level below, and Italy a level below them, so there's no rivalry there, really.

Escape to Victory - as I know it, maybe a different name in US? - now that was a great movie. Not in terms of anything cinematic, of course, but it brought together some of the all time greats on one field. Pele, Moore, Ardiles, specifically, were world class players in their prime. Not forgetting the 'legendary' John Wark. And Michael Caine and Sly attempting to 'blend in' with these ex-pros.

  • Ya Darkside!

    Football plays are viscous!

    Whatever the fuck that means....

    Good try yet again troll...

If a Browns player did what Antonio Brown did you would all be jizzing over how cool it was. But since it happened to a Browns player it was a horrible example of how the NFL and God hates the Browns and the big bad Steelers are so mean!.

I'm still trying to figure out what the fuck you are talking about...

    Football plays are viscous?

So.... Football plays are sticky and adhesive?

FYI, these are not personal shots....that was just Vag being a Vag.....he gets shit wrong, and I correct him. On the very rare occasion I get something wrong....and he acts like it is the crime of the century.....you know like where I though Cam Newton played a little bit less than he actually did. OK, he played about a quarter more than I thought he did. So fucking sue me.

Anyway....so you don't think the Springboks vs. All Blacks is all that and a bag of chips?

Actually, I thought it was pretty cool...and a bit funny. I mean, it really caused no harm

  • @douche-nozzle said:

    I can answer your first question.....No The Yapper never posts when he isn't talking out of his ass. He naturally assumes that since the Steelers dominated the Panthers that the Panthers really can't be any good;

Actually, I said that it was surprising that they played so bad. They lost like 39-14. How good can they be? They were supposed to have one of the best defenses in the NFL, yet they gave up 39 points....to a team the prior week could score only 6 points vs. a team who was not supposed to have as good a D as the Panthers.

he's one of those Browns fans who base their logic on one game.....as long as it represents what he wants to believe.

I don't think it is logic at all.....it is expectations. What was the Vegas betting line prior to that game? I suspect the Panthers were favored by close to double digits. So, for one game, yes, that result was a surprise.

The Yapper can make up more shit than a politician.....but then there is a very fine line between lawyers and politicians isn't there?

Actually, I am both. And the reason I am successful at both is because I bring facts and research to the table. That is how it works for the most part, though you would have no clue because you have all these ignorant preconceptions about each profession.

What is your profession? I would wager we could come up with all kinds of foolish stereotypes about that.
