  • You know if I was in front office I would wait. This is a planned PR plan to make Johnny F news worthy again. If you know and watch Hoyer this junk does not sound like him .

  • After watching the vid and seeing Hoyers reaction... i think its true. Why not just say its not true if its not true? I'm thinking he is sick and tired of the whole stadium being filled with #2 jerseys. Either way i see this as a dick move on Hoyers behalf, he aint no GM.

  • FUCK!

And in the distance I can hear the JM Fanboys stampeding back to the forum...

Reading the comments Johnny sounds kind of more like a team player.

You said it yourself... Johnny Media. But in the locker room? on the sideline? Who knows...

    Anyway... sounds bullshitish to me...

Agent has not been in negotiations since May...

It's Mary Kay citing a Bleacher Report...

    Play ball...

EDIT: Thanks, Mud... I feel better now...

There are times when I hate being right...

  • Lmao... you couldn't be any more wrong. I'm the biggest Hoyer homer on this forum and have been since his first game last year. I'm 41 and people can't bullshit me... if it wasn't true he would've said so but he didn't... equals a dick move. Still think he's 10 times the qb that Manziel is.

  • After watching the film, it sounds like a starting Quarterback being hounded by some dick reporter on a rumor. He grinned and shrugged it off, which is what anyone would do.

  • Okay, thought about this a bit more, did a little more reading/research.

First, Zombo, can we get a thread merge, there are two QB threads about this running and I don't feel like jumping back an forth ?

While I doubt this is true (more on this in a bit), this is really not something we need right now.

This is the exact kind of crap that is going to distract the Team and cause us to lose a game we shouldn't lose (Jacksonville) because their attention was diverted to this BS.

Next point you have to consider.

Look at one particular statement that was made about the Mack situation this year during FA :

"Alex Mack is a quality person and quality player, and he's the kind of person we want to play with the Cleveland Browns for a long time,'' said Haslam. "I personally like Alex a lot besides him being a good player. We were very frank. We want him to finish his career with the Cleveland Browns. Alex has some choices to make. At the end of the day, I think that's what he'll decide. But that's obviously his decision.

Seems to me that Hoyer easily falls into this category - Brain's not going anywhere.

Now more on the Hoyer / Johnny (non) story :

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/hoyers-agent-says-manziel-not-factor-future-021154142--nfl.html

''Although we have had no discussions with the Browns since the spring, Johnny Manziel's presence will have no impact on any discussions that we might have in the future with the team,'' Linta said in an email. ''Brian's not worried about his contract and the situation will take shape as the season progresses.''

  • Lmao... you couldn't be any more wrong. I'm the biggest Hoyer homer on this forum and have been since his first game last year. I'm 41 and people can't bullshit me... if it wasn't true he would've said so but he didn't... equals a dick move. Still think he's 10 times the qb that Manziel is.

I blame your screen name... 🙂

As for his reaction... if it was the third or fourth time he'd been asked, as I suspect it was, he'd already be tired of it... especially if it is not true.

As DieHard did... you have to listen closely to the original "report".

Ahhh come on! I can't even point out how JF fucked up a few cheerleaders and cars in college?

Texas A&M does not have cheerleaders. They are male yell leaders. LOL! 😆

Merged or not, good post JAF...

One could argue your facts make the story even better... WHOOP! 😉

  • There is no reason to not sign Hoyer and no reason to not keep Manziel. Right now everything is about Hoyer, and it should be. He is the starting QB and doing a great job. However, we don't know what is happening in practice. Manziel might be playing great in his role. Just because Hoyer is playing well this year doesn't mean Manziel won't beat him out next year.

There is no rush to this. We don't have to make any decisions on this for 2-3 more years. JF isn't a distraction. We aren't reading about his exploits anymore. Let's don't be in a hurry to get rid of either one.

    Thanks Tour.

This whole thing just doesn't sit well, nor does it seem to fit Hoyer's character - could be wrong, but as a Team Leader it just doesn't line up.

  • Looks like BR's Cole is doubling down...

    http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2014/10/14/jason-cole-of-bleacher-report-the-browns-know-hoyer-will-not-re-sign-in-the-current-circumstance-but-he-has-not-officially-said-that-to-the-team/

So now not "everyone Cole has talked to" is saying the same thing...

... although he said that all did...

... and Hoyer has not officially said to the team what Cole says he said...

... but the team is aware of what he has said even tho he has not said what he said to the team...

    Anything I miss?

  • Should have never drafted Johnny.

  • So Hoyer wants a more "backuppy" backup IF all this is true ... OK

Well, we can't franchise both Hoyer and Cameron, so maybe we better get to work on Cameron so we can franchise Brian if we have to. I would not trade Manziel after one year, he could be great, and Hoyer could once again get injured. Browns gotta ride this out with both ... we went 15 years without one QB, we can go two years with 2.

    Zombo

  • wow, so this is true? Really Brian? If you're a "competitor"...than guess what dude you have to "compete". Gonna be that way anywhere you go. He never got the starting job at NE because he couldn't outcompete Tom Brady. He deserves a good contract no question. But if JF outcompetes him in a couple years than what? You want the Browns to guarantee they keep playing you even though someone better is on the team? So basically he wants to get rid of competition. Wow that's such a good look for an NFL QB. And what if Connor Shaw steps in for a few games after he gets hurt and plays better, get rid of him too then? Basically we have to guarantee Hoyer that our 2nd string QB sucks so bad we'll throw a couple more million at him to entice him off the IR a few months early? Such a bad look. Still hope this is bullshit, I thought the two of them actually got along.

  • This whole non-story is ridiculous.....and, as predicted, the whole national media is repeating this one guys speculation over and over......

It's been a few weeks without a Johnny story, so they just fabricate shit to talk about....whatever.

The Browns will keep both if at all possible. But I dont think Hoyer is worth a franchise tag.....an exclusive tag would make him the 3rd highest paid qb in the league at 17m......and a non-exclusive transition tag would put him at about 15m....which is where P Manning is and more than guys like Brees, Rivers, Kapernik, Rapistberger, Flacco, Newton, etc

I like Hoyer....a lot!.....but, cmon, he hasnt accomplished enough to be top tier in the league....and it takes more than 1 year to get there....

All the Browns have to do is step up to the plate.....say Hoyer is there man.....give him a fair contract.....and, when camp starts next year, nip the JFF talk in the bud by reaffirming that HOYER is the incumbent and JFF is his back up.....give Hoyer the 1st team reps and keep JFF with the scrubs....

Well, I can definitely understand why Hoyer, or anyone else, would want to avoid battling it out with JF. It must be frustrating to have solid productivity on offense and and still have half the fans thinking Johnny can solve all our problems (even on defense). But, you're right, he needs to just play the game, sign a contract, and let the coaches and bean counters do the rest.

Exactly 'Peen. This will all sort itself out in due time. Manziel has three more seasons on his rookie contract. Hoyer's looked more than adequate, but we need a few more games of work to be sure- and injuries happen.

That you can't smell the reek of Bulls**t coming through your computer? Yeah, unfortunately MKC's regurgitation made it to the Dayton Daily News this morning. I'm beginning to think Mary Kay needs to get the heave-ho just like Grossi. Cleveland fans deserve better reporting than that.

  • I think we should trade Johnny to New England in exchange for Brady. Then Brady can spend his twilight years as Hoyers backup. 😉

  • Wait, Hoyer isn't asking for 15m is he? Please Tell me he's not asking for Peyton Manning money.

Sounds great in theory. Right now Johnny is an athlete playing QB, but what happens when he becomes a QB who is an athlete? I'm sure you understand what I mean by that and it changes everything. Pettine sees it which is why he keeps saying what he does about Johnny for the long run.
