  • Yeah but you can also have different age of consent, firearms and alcohol sales limitations, speed limits etc from community to community or state to state.

    In New Jersey and Oregon it is illegal to pump your own gas.

    In MA too. 🙁 Not only that, but you know those little clips in the handle of the pump that make it so you can lock the pump until the tank is full? Also illegal here. So annoying.

    Its a union thing I believe. They say self serve denies job opportunities for professional Gas Dispensing Engineers (GDE). In Japan there is no self serve. When you pull into a station, about 4 men in uniform with run up to your car, check the fluids, air pressure, fill you up and clean your windows. Then they will stop traffic so you can exit and bow. Pretty cool.

    No of course not. I just thought it was interesting - I'm not sure where the church & state line comes in to it, and whether it affects private land. For example, canary wharf is private land, but we still have to abide by the law of the land.

    As long as they are not breaking any state laws\mandates.
