Breaking: BROWNS CUT BEN TATE

FEED THE CROW

I can only imagine Stockton having a conversation with someone.
Person: "I just found out my wife has ovarian cancer..."
Stockton: "Speaking of cancer, how about that scrub Brian hoyer"

She's just gonna die in a few months or a year. Why prolong the inevitable, when you can try out a new wife NOW?
Dont be stupid! just cut chase, OFF her and move on.

except at holding onto the ball.

I heard the titanic sank, while we're at it.

It's got to be a joint decision. Or at least, they looked at the situation and asked themselves, is he worth the negativity he causes? And at a Trent-Richardson-like 3.1 ypc, the answer would be no.

I thought it was telling that Pettine said he thought West and Crowell were more explosive just days before Tate got cut. Tate is the most expensive of the three running-backs (and has been least productive). I was initially surprised, but I think it was probably a good move. They signed him to a "show me" contract and instead of trying to show it on the field he just complained.

Wonder if this will affect other free agents views on signing with the Browns in the future...
Might be the only minus I see from this.

Possibly, but I can imagine any conversation going like "what happened with Tate, you signed him to a decent contract and then cut him?" "well, to be honest he wasn't playing as well as two rookies, including an undrafted one, went public about his dissatisfaction with the management and was earning quite a lot of money for it, so we decided the team was better without him"

The only ones that might shy away are the ones who dont think they can live up to it.
Most players, I think, understand that you get cut if you dont play well.

Heavy dose of West. Please give Crow some stickum, he's going to need it.
-
I loved Tate when coming in if nothing else but for his attitude which has changed. He should have been a good veteran presence in a back field of rookies but he wasn't.
I like the cut anyway, shows the guys we want what's best for all of us.

Maybe he was the cancer, maybe the Browns will not lose another game this year lol one can wish

Thought of another minus...
The Colts will pick him up, then when he plays the Browns and he gashes the shit run defense it will be "Told ya so!"
Ugh...
Maybe he and Trent can put on a tap dance show that day in the backfield together.

He and Trent 100 yards each ....Josh Cribbs another 80 TD for each....watch ....

Im guessing some here are assuming that Tate was cut due to his comments.
I really doubt it.
I think he was cut simply because he sucked....plus, we have 2 other guys who can do it better.....and we needed a roster spot for JG.
.
Agree. I never heard him say anything bad about the players, coaches or team in general. He got cut because he was the least productive of three decent backs and we needed the spot. I'm not eIm guessing some here are assuming that Tate was cut due to his comments.

As I noted on other "injury" topic.......LeGarrette Blount refused to go into the game last night when asked. When will Steelers be cutting his ass?

Looks like a great move to me.
Though, Im sure if he goes somewhere else and gains even a few yards, someone here will whine about it. Or the first time West or Crowell make a bad, it'll be due to Tate leaving. Book it.

I'm here for ya, Mud...
But could end up a Raider, so it'd be a very few yards...He was still mad that we didn't draft Watkins.
LMAO... well done.

Should definitely drive up the guaranteed money...
