  • Pettine and the coaches see Manziel in practice day in and day out. If he was playing like Luck we would've seen him weeks ago. He got a shot today cause Hoyer played like shit again. The coaches will evaluate who gives them the best shot against Indy and my guess is that will be Hoyer. Can't deny the drive Manziel had but let's be honest there is a huge difference between, a spark and score, and executing a game plan.

  • Yes. Hoyer is getting worse

  • Hoyer may start indeed. But they told him today that they don't have faith in him to win.

  • Yes. Unfortunately playoffs are pretty much over for us now. Start the learning process for Johnny.

You all are the most hyperbolic fans I've ever seen. How are we out of contention? Everyone in our division besides Cinci lost. Until we are mathematically out, it isn't over.

  • Lots of pessimism already. The season is FAR from over and the Browns still have good shot at either winning the division or getting a wild card slot. Yes it does suck how the Browns gave away the game but that's already in the past. The big question is who will be the starting QB next week against the Colts?

  • You guys are nuts. We are one game back. ONE. Some of you people don't deserve to win and I hope you find another football team to root (bitch, complain) for. Go Browns

  • I will not overreact to what I saw today but it is clear Johnny at quarterback makes us a better team. Maybe the pressure of a playoff hunt is too much to put on a rookie, maybe it isn't, but Hoyer is not the answer.

    Shut the hell up.

  • i don't think manziel makes this team better. i think hoyer is royally fucking up. i don't care who starts as long as that person give the browns the best chance to win.

it's a 2 edged sword now for manziel AND for the browns. if manziel starts and blows does that mean our QB search is still on? i love what hoyer did for us but if you can't mentally tough it out with the pressures going on around you then you can't be that guy that leads the team into battle. simple as that. and let's see how teams prep for manziel. i really doubt the bills did anything this week thinking manziel would come in.

Your starter has thrown 5 straight picks in two games without a TD. Given, he won one of them, but it doesn't sound like a recipe for future success. Barring a fantastic turnaround, I can't see this team winning out or even taking 3 of 4.

The point is, you're not risking much by going to Manziel, and it sets things up for next year. If he's not the guy, best to find out sooner.

ok, not trying to be an ass here, but why did you show up? seriously? just asking. are you here because manziel was put in the game?

I'm not saying it's over for sure or anything but I can't see us beating Indy next week and I think we're in bad standing in terms of the tiebreaker.

Despite how my comments may look I'm not unhappy at all. We've lost a lot of key guys to injury this year, have a lot of guys who will get better in the years ahead and I personally trust our current front office to continue to make smart moves and improve our team (especially with two first round picks). We've done better than anyone thought we would and the future is bright for the Browns!

  • You have to be medically fucked in the head to not want Manziel to start.

Hoyer fucking sucked today and I'm glad the coaches pulled him

  • All right, I said in the tavern that I wouldn't respond here this week, but here goes.

I like Brian, and have been in his corner 100%, but I don't like the way Brian has regressed the last 5 weeks culminating in today's performance. If Pettine makes a change, it is not just because of how Brian played today, and even the most biased Brian supporter HAS to see and agree with this. He will make the change because of Brian's complete body of work, and how that body has been regressing.

There is never a perfect time to make a change at QB because of lack of production, but right now, it's about as good as it gets for Pettine. We are still in the playoff race with a 1/4 of the season left to be played. Johnny has had time to watch, listen and learn and is probably as ready now as he will be any time this year.

Hopefully Pettine will be smart and not give any type of definitive answer on who starts next week as to keep the Colts guessing and give Johnny any tiny advantage he can give him............ The press and we won't like it, but if he's smart, it's what he'll do.

Based on the last 5 weeks and if I'm the head coach, I start Johnny......... and that coming from a Brian supporter.

His ability to scramble and pocket presence alone makes us a better team.

Well as long as he doesn't fumble and throw into double coverage like he did today (and got away with it) we're good. I can't say after watching what he did today he makes us a better team, even with the TD drive. If he starts next week I'll be able to make a better judgement.

  • Does Hoyer start against Indy?

    I do not know.

I've said it before: Hoyer's only edge has been his ability to read the defense and execute the Offense. Based upon our success after audibles and some of his early play, it is clear he made good decisions as well.

Mechanically Hoyer looked bad in some recent games, but looked better last week against ATL. I think that mechanically he looked good again today.

However, his second INT in Gordo's direction was a sucker Defense and Hoyer fell for it. It was similar to the way Leonard suckered Orton for the endzone pick early. If he made other read errors, he has opened the door to the possibility of losing his job.

Assuming the door is open, then the question is: Is JM allowed to waltz through it?

    Again, I do not know.

Physically JM showed nothing today that we did not know he had. He had a good, high energy drive against a softer defense than BUF put up most of the day.

But that drive also included what looked to be a good, audible as well. If the throw, and non-throw, reads Manziel made were on the money as well, then he has closed that gap as well.

Enough to offset the rookie we still saw in the fumble and moreover his reaction to it?

    I do not know.

One thing I do know though... should be an interesting week around here and Berea...

At least you are consistent at being inconsistent.

    You lied to us...

  • Let's put it in simple terms.....the Browns with this offense will not make the playoffs. Put the blame where ever you want. Bottom line the offense is not good enough to win games.

  • Oh and let's pitch the ball again for no gain.......if that doesnt work we will just ich it again.

  • It's simple...

MANZIEL OPENS UP THE OFFENSE, Brian Hoyer doesn't not. Period, end of story.

No linebackers have to worry about spying on Brian Hoyer, dude has no legs at all.

Manziel scoring that TD was proof this offense can be explosive. I drive, 80 yards.
