Josh Gordon

The Browns Board

  • Spinning the ball made every highlight reel on every sports station across the country. All year the Browns have shown class. That was not acceptable and the coaches will let him know it. I don't understand why he did that? Who was he trying to impress with a childish move costing a penalty. If this isn't a wake up call to Ray Farmer nothing is. Draft a frigging wide receiver! And while they're at it, draft a tight end. They're going to need oodles of help in the draft.

  • I'm afraid it's still all about him. The ghetto thing. he's great, but

that spinning the ball penalty, right after a play when THEY got

    a taunting penalty?

And his mistakes...sure he's rusty, but there have been times when he

had no idea he was getting the ball, it seemed.

    I don't know....

Yeah that was a bad decision he made. But frankly both of those were bullshit penalties.

  • He may have cost Hoyer his job because even last weeks final Int 'may" have been on Gordon to some extent. It's either miscommunication or Gordon just forgot how some of these routes are supposed to go down in the NFL. The spinning shit, I don't think he meant that ball to hit the BIlls player...I think he was trying to make the ball spin on the ground and just facepalmed failed it badly. It's because the ball hit the Bills player that it was ruled a penalty. What concerns me is that if he has trouble meshing with Hoyer how's it gonna work with Manziel? JM does not as of yet have the football brain Hoyer does, which is why I still think Hoyer starts next week but he knows he's on the shortest leash an NFL QB can be on....one fuck up and johnny get in there. Hoyer looked crushed on the sideline..felt bad, some of this wasn't his fault but enough of it was.

  • Ghetto, schmetto...

Once the ball is in his hands, does anyone have any question about his "effort"?

The afterplay behavior was disappointing... almost like an homage to Little. But it's on Shanny to limit, if not eliminate, the option routes for Josh. Give him no decisions to make until he shows he can make good decisions. Just keep feeding quick slants, screens, short crosses, etc.

  • The Bills defense was a bad matchup for the Browns offense, with no Mack, no Jordan, and no

    Barnidge sp? at TE...

and they lost their second string C... playing with their 3rd string had to be unnerving,

and Gordon making mental errors apparently, and West's fumble...

I'd say Hoyer starts - I still don't think Manziel is ready yet. But the kid can play. In college,

maybe he'd have had time to throw that ball away on the errant snap.

Not the pros. It was almost a TD - he was pretty disappointed in himself on that one.

Hoyer has been forcing things. And I will say, it seems that Manziel has more arm to get passes

completed downfield, at least on the move. We'll see. But there's a lot to learn.

  • Manziel better watch the film of his first drive. He never saw a wide open Gabriel that would have been a touchdown. He didn't even look to his left and Gabriel was waving his hands. Manziel completed a bullet that could easily have been an interception.

  • I was worried that Brian would force balls to Puffy when he returned, and it sure seemed like that was the case yesterday. Early on in the season, Brian was the master of spreading it around and it was working, and working well.

  • I don't think Gordon likes hoyer very much. Hoyer has missed him on a lot of throws these last two games, even one yesterday josh just threw up his hands like "come on dude". I don't think josh thinks hoyer can hit him deep and it kind of looks like he is right. I bet you if JF comes in, body language will change.

Plus, once he gets that ball he tries harder than a lot of guys, he doesn't go down easy, always fighting for extra yards. That's the most important thing.

That was kind of my take too.

    Josh looked "frustrated".

I lost track yesterday of how many times I threw my hands up, and yelled "come on dude"

Glad he didn't do the 'ghetto Ferguson support the thug shuffle' before the game though.

  • Trade the fucker before he catches another suspension, which my gut tells me is only a matter of time.

  • Talent can only get you so far - the missed practice time clearly showed and cost us dearly

  • Is this because he makes it look easy? He looks like he isn't running hard when in fact he is.

  • I thought he played great. Seeing a lot of effort and emotion from Josh.

Sometimes I feel like Josh and Hoyer have never actually practiced to together though, they don't seem in sync.

Haha pretty spot on. I was coming in to say I didn't see a problem with his effort. Guy just looked frustrated.

  • Yes he was making moves for those extra yards and that one play he fought with three Bills until they took him down.

    Frustrated...ok.

  • Excepting his one drop, his physical effort is not in question.

Mental? Different story, but that is to be expected given the layoff.

Last year he and Hoyer hooked up for 146 on 10 Josh's first game back, but fell off to 4 for 71 in 2nd game. So 2014 is not dissimilar to his first two games back last year.

  • Gordon did say before the draft that he wanted the Browns to get Johnny, but say Johnny is what we hope he is. Him and Gordon would electric.
