Jonathan Paul Manziel

  • All I can say is get ready for the circus that's coming to town starting tonight on NFL Total Access on the NFL network which has on slate a Johnny Football Starter Kit. LOL! 😆

  • In ten years Johnny will be a football legend...

  • Well we've argued about Manziel since draft day. The Aggies and others say he's the greatest Qb that they've ever seen and some say he will be a bust, myself included. Hell I've said a lot of nasty things about Manziel, even dubbed him Sideshow Johnny. We've called each other names and spewed derogatory comments about each other regarding everything from brain matter to sexual orientation.

One thing we all have in common is passion. Most for the team, some for the "guy". There is going to be a whole hell of a lot of crow served in the future one way or the other. I truly hope I'm not the one serving but the one eating because I could develop a taste for crow if it means I get to witness a Cleveland Browns Super Bowl Championship before I die. Don't get me wrong , I still think you fanboys are assholes, but hey, some of my best friends are assholes !

    GO BROWNS !

  • assholes. everyone has one but you don't have to be one.

Remember that video awhile back with that guy/girl/tranny that cried and screamed into a camera "Leave Britney alone" while crying. Idk how because it was Retarded, but it got really big for some reason. Anyway, I feel like there should be a "Leave Brian Alone" video along the same lines.

Fair enough. I'm stoked on the D so i still think this game is very winnable. Go Browns.

Dalton may have double the qbr of the first game.

lol.. I think we could handle Andy posting a 4.0... which, BTW, might be his first ever 4.0...

I don't think JF will get killed. Nobody said that about Russell Wilson and he's shorter than Manziel. Also Drew Bree's is only 6'0" and he's a hall of famer. This gives the organization a chance to look ahead and see what we need in the draft. Like they should have back in May when they drafted Manziel.

Size is not the issue... Taller, bigger QBs get blasted into the tub, if they run with abandon.

I usually don't like doing predictions, but Johnny's never let me down.

He will throw for 250+ and run for 70, and will RARELY GET HIT. He'll lead the offense to 30+ points and almost 500 yards.

"He'll make rookie mistakes." Yes, he will, but not nearly as many as most expect. He's very careful with the ball when the situation calls for it. Too often in college he knew the defense sucked and he had to take risks to score points. He will not be overly risky with the Browns stud defense.

"He doesn't know the playbook." You are truly a fucking idiot if you think this.

Preserved for post game... even if you forgot, "Can't read a defense," with or without an insult...

Man, I have a lot of confidence in Manziel's abilities, but you make me look like a detractor. I've never seen a college player quite like him, but you're glossing over some things as well. He looked completely baffled by the LSU defense last year (yeah, I know, thumb injury), and he absolutely did throw a few bad interceptions, including a particularly unnecessary one against Alabama at home when we were ahead. You say he'll rarely get hit. It depends; if he plays with the total abandon that he played with in college, where he was pretty much more agile than anyone else on the field, he might killed. If he's a little more judicious than that, and learns not to go for broke on every play, then he might make it.

I'm totally pumped, but it's got the potential to be a little rocky. He's a smart kid; hopefully he's become a more patient one as well.

I'll admit I might have set the bar high, but I have a track record winning bets about Johnny.

LSU had his number, no doubt. The int against bama was a terrible play by the receiver, ran a bad route and let the corner pick it. Big play for sure.

I guess I'm just tired of all the people expecting him to fail, so I just wanted to put forth a little optimism.

I went overboard, hope I'm right.

Detractor? Not necessarily... just an objective fan.

So the best way to set your boy up for success in skeptics' eyes is to raise expectations?

Browns fans do not care whether JM wins us the game as long as we win the game.

We do not care how much faith you or any other JM follower have in him.

We do not care how much money he has made you.

JM not losing us the game is our "bar".

See how easy his job really is?

May he not lose us many, many games for years to come. If he wins some, too, and makes you a few more bucks... all the better.

    Go Browns...

  • Time for a little levity: Play the game JF!

You're citing Big-10 QB's. On this board the Big 10 is infallible. Johnny has football semse you can't teach. Look at the TD run against Buffalo. He knew he was going to get hit so he turned his back to that side in mid air to protect himself. That is instinct.

BTW, Johnny played in the SEC and most of the country is sick of how dominating they have been since 2005. Many of the posters here have no idea about the depth and intensity of SEC football. OSU comes somewhat close but as for the rest - LSU beat Wisconsin with a bunch of freshmen in their first game ever. What does that say.

Sit back and watch JFF run roughshod over Cincy and pass like a demon. Marvin Lewis won't know what hit him and he sure won't have an answer. Midget indeed.

You throw enough at a peep show wall and sooner or later something sticks...

If Hoyer were to let his disappointment overrule his good sense, sure... he could earn being cut.

But as a Pro QB who will be without a contract soon enough... not to mention a family man with three prime, non-guaranteed game checks on the horizon... not seeing that.

Ummm... a diving DB got a hand on JM's chest as he is starting his dive... raked it and his forearm across his pads and right arm. Endzone replay shows it clear as day...

That replay also shows the DB turning about 90 degs in mid-air as a result of JM running through the contact. Ya think maybe, just maybe, the torque of that contact also supplied the "instinct" to which you refer?

  • I don't expect miracles. Not only has Josh Gordon not work with the team all season he hasn't worked with Johnny at all. And quarterbacks do you need to get in rhythm with their favorite receivers.

I also hope that Kyle Shanahan is able to hold sway over the couch and tailor an offense suited to Johnny rather than try to force him into the role of the non quarterback centric offense .

As long as this gameplan doesn't include running a smaller, lighter QB than RG3 a bunch of times - I'll be content.

Well again, of the two quarterbacks we have on the roster which one was out for a year due to an injury sustained while running the ball?

  • Hoorta

The Texans not drafting him has mothing to do with how good he is or will be. Every team passed on Tom Brady and Joe Montana at least once. Does that mean they weren't good?

Manziel is SO good that he's the only qb under 6 feet to be drafted in the first round in over 50 years. Teams are scared of small qb's, that's why so many passed on him.

As well as lsu did against Johnny, the Aggies could have won in 2012, maybe should have won. In 2013, Johnny played with a fractured thumb.

As for rolling to his left, I've seen few better at throwing while rolling left, so I'm not sure where you're getting that. I can think of 4 of his most famous Aggie highlights happening while rolling left. He rolled left against Buffalo once and threw a perfect pass to Austin.

lsu out played them for sure in 2013...but you're right, manziel's injury and the lack of receivers (i don't think kennedy even played in 2013 game) hurt as well........when evans is the only guy you really fear...you double triple team him and put max pressure on the qb

Which wasn't even a designed called. I'd say that further illustrates protecting the QB at all costs.

He was rolling to his left when he threw wide to Benji.

    GO BROWNS!!

  • Cool stories Texas bros. Keep us informed when Johnny continues his domination of college ball...

the NFL is a man's league. I saw johnny pimples getting runned down by DE in preseason. Again... it don't mean squat. Please keep your college domination posts to a minimum because we've heard it a thousand times.

  • There is no need for an apostrophe in Evans.

  • I can only imagine how high the "bounty" is to knock this kid out. You know there are some vets that would love to get a piece of meat and be that guy. Yeah, I know, you can't have a bounty anymore.....and you can't say midget. Going to a bar in CentFL to watch the kid's debut. I wish he'd absolutely drill Lewis with an incomplete pass on their sidelines as he's going out of bounds. From maybe 8 yards out.

i recall miles austin adjusting in mid-air to protect himself as well in the same game. i think they just released his kidneys to him in a jar.

  • Good call PE. Gordon is more talented than Evans. So I would answer the question with yes he could be. Will Gordon return to Gordon form is the better question
