49'ers ask for permission to speak to Shanahan

They are also interviewing Mike so I could see Kyle heading that way if daddy gets the job.

Why are you still here everlastingqueer? Thought you left to go root for the cowqueers full time

I keep reading these Shanahan reports, but agree that they all seem to be Mike Shanahan and not Kyle. So a lot of these posts are confusing to me, as I've not seen anything about Kyle(our shanahan) talking to anyone or anyone requesting permission....
which leads to lateral moves VS upward moves......
I dont think Kyle can leave or even be interviewed for another OC job while he's under contract(lateral move)....unless the Browns give permission....so, even if his Dad does score a job, he cant just up and go there unless we release him from his contract.....
I do, however, think he can interview or accept a HC job, because its an upward move.....so, IF another team is talking to him, it's about HC not OC.....

Yeah...there is that.
As for Kyle... stepping back into Daddy's shadow would be a terrible career move. He would be hard-pressed to come up with a worse one.

Yep.....I dont see any upside either.....and can see a lot of reasons why he and Daddy shouldn't go there.....
No smoke. No fire. Just media speculation.

I would like Shanahan back for continuity's sake but I wouldn't be too upset if he was replaced by someone who could keep a consistent rhythm in the offense. It was like the guy would short circuit when something was going well.
"Man, all of this running and play action is going well. Derp derp time for a reverse."
-
No problem with replacing Shanahan, depending on the replacement. Keeping him for continuity sake not good enough Imo.

Sounds like he is tired of the bs with the owner trying to call the shots....I hope we don't have a budding Jerry Jones or Al Davis in the making.

Why is it, when things start to look better, they get worse. I, and I think all of us, want an owner that is involved. But if this type of stuff is true, I'm not so sure. Granted, I thought the play calling at times was stale and predictive, but Haslam and Farmer need to let the guys do their jobs, and address concerns after games or during the week, not during a football game.
I love this team, but god damn it they make it hard at times.
Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahanmay be on the way out in Cleveland over issues with some of his fellow coaches and the team’s front office.
Shanahan is hoping to get a head-coaching job, and he has been mentioned as a candidate for the vacancies in Buffalo and San Francisco. But Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that Shanahan may leave Cleveland even if he doesn’t get a head-coaching gig, because thesituation in Cleveland has become dysfunctional.
According to the report, the personnel side and the coaching side aren’t seeing eye to eye, and the coaches may have felt pressured to bench Brian Hoyer and startJohnny Manziel, a decision that resulted in an already struggling Cleveland offense getting worse. The report even says that the personnel side is intruding on the coaching side to such an extent that a personnel executive texted from the press box to the sidelines about play calling during a game.
Shanahan is under contract to the Browns for the 2015 season, and if he wants to leave to become an assistant on another coaching staff, the Browns don’t have to let him go. But if there’s already a toxic atmosphere inside the team, forcing a coach to stay even though he wants to leave probably wouldn’t improve the situation. It may be better for both sides if Shanahan leaves Cleveland.

Given the writer behind this article is MKC, I'm taking it with a grain of salt unless someone else reports it. I agree, though, this team needs stability more than anything else and I'd really just like to see the team develop under one set of coaches for a few years.

this was already mentioned in another thread.
the media can dig at raw skin until there's a scar doesn't mean it's true.

Unless of course it's about JM.

As I discussed with some of you previously, I'm a firm believer that assuming Manziel starts next year he will not succeed with Shanahan as our OC. I'm not saying he will with someone else, but the guy needs to win or lose in a pro-style offense. Shanahan set him up to fail just as much as Manziel did himself if you ask me and it doesn't seem like he's willing to change. It's one of the things I'd love to eat crow on but in the guys first full start the offensive game plan was as miserable as his INT's. The hit that took him out was a frikin designed QB roll-out run.

Didn't Shanahan have issues like this in D.C. with the ownership and RG3? Either he is unlucky as fuck or he is the constantly whining common denominator.
