Mariota is a joke
-
This clown is not an NFL QB.
-
Come on man. He just lost the national championship. Give the kid a break.

So what you're saying is he's a loser.........check, like I said Bucks fuck Ducks Mariotta sucks, I'd take big Cardale for the NFL.Come on man. He just lost the national championship. Give the kid a break.

it wasn't on mariota, that's for sure.
oregon got out-played at every facet of the game.
meyer and co. had an ingenious game plan.
-
Mariota played a great game. Oregon as a whole did not. Can't hate 333 yards and 2 TDs. Oregon's defense just can't stop a god damn thing.
-
Agreed Ghoolie. I guess losing the game makes him shit for life in the OPs opinion.
-
Yea Mariota made some great plays early. I don't believe cardale Jones will be a better QB in the NFL than Mariota, but the buckeyes were better as a team.
OP is too simple minded to evaluate anything else.
-
Jones looked no better than Mariota, IMO. Mariota was unfortunate to have some drops by receivers, Jones was fortunate to not have passes defended better, but the key difference was the running game. That's why OSU won - if it had come down to a straight fight between QBs, most money would be on Mariota.
-
Mariota = Dennis Dixon = Daron Thomas = Jeremiah Masoli
They are all option QBs not NFL qbs.
Just like those guys, Mariota will wash out of the NFL quickly.
I never really watched Cardale Jones before. Holy shit that guy has the biggest arm I've ever seen. Im curious to know if he's smart or not.

Well the Buckeyes were unfortunate enough to have the ball stripped multiple times. So there's that. Should have been at least 21 more points. That doesn't mean Mariota did bad job or Oregon wasn't a good team. They weren't rated as highly as Alabama though were they?Jones looked no better than Mariota, IMO. Anyway its moot now isnt it?

Mariota last night showed his biggest weakness and strength at the same time. He is an incredible talent when it comes to escaping pressure, keeping his eyes down field and making quick, decisive throws. That elusiveness I think will easily translate to the NFL. He's also got the size you look for although they may want him to gain 15 pounds. Our Buckeyes just beat the dog crap out of the Ducks in every way possible, and if it weren't for self-induced turnovers I have no doubt in my mind they would have won by 35+
BUT, his pocket passing leaves a good amount to be desired. I think this is going to be an issue many QB's face moving forward, but he's not a guy you want to start week 1. I do think this is something that with the right coaches can really figure itself out but not if you throw the guy in.

Mariota is far from being a joke. He is a class act on and off the field from what I have read of him. He will be a good qb in the NFL. I would have loved to see him in Cleveland over Manziel.

His play will be very similar to Jonny Shitfaced. They have similar skill sets and they both lack the ability to throw a football with velocity.

Kid impressed me with sliding in the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield. I think he struggles with consistency and accuracy.
I don't want the kid on the Browns, but I think he'll be a pretty ok QB.

Cardale was building campfires and toasting marshmallows on 3rd and longs because OU DC was so stupid as to never apply any pressure and mostly wasted a LB in middle zone just twiddling his thumbs. Almost every 3rd and long they rushed only 3 which was ridiculous. That does not make him a great QB, but it would give me pause as HC to fire one DC who had a horrible game plan. #15 was the difference in the game. OU D was worn out chasing phantoms on 3rd and longs most of the first half so he just ran all over them as the game wore on.

Tom Brady went in the sixth round because "he didn't have enough arm".
After being drafted by the Pats he worked on arm strength and mechanics and by anyones admission is a great NFL QB.
Would Mariota be able to do this? Maybe. He does have the character (lacking in Twatziel) to put in the work to get better, and to learn to be a pocket passer.
Is he a first round pick? After this, probably not. But see all Ghoulie's points.

Ag, that's OU's main game... drop 8. And when they did apply pressure Jones torched them more times than not.
