  • I care a LOT about what atrocities the nazis committed, in pushing

the world into the world war.

So many lives of soldiers lost, so many loved ones heartbroken, lives

    dashed into tragedy.

By the hundreds of thousands, from the beginning, ended with civilian and military

    deaths in the many millions.

History shows that letting problems fester, and grow into world crises.....

ends up with a gigantic, devastating problem to solve, instead of what would have

been a far more "minor" problem, relatively speaking.

I don't understand the tendency of segments of societies using Jewish people and Israel

and a scapegoat for their unhappiness and anger. It's garbage, but it's been happening

with Arabic and Muslim groups since the beginning of recorded history. Maybe that's where it

all starts - if you're going to scapegoat a culture and religion and a country, you can pick

Israel because you won't be alone - the ME Jew haters already got it started from the gitgo.

  • Right, sure, the jews as a group of people have suffered disproportionately, as previously agreed. But the question is why there is such a strength of feeling in america regarding israel - is it just because they're jewish?

Atrocities are a part of humanity. You can go back thousands of years and find similar or worse. The mongols sacked Baghdad in 1258 killing 1,000,000 people in a single week. You have to live in the now. I appreciate that Israel is a valuable ally in the volatile middle east but we should give them the same consideration as our other allies and I feel like we treat them like a special needs child.

A, though they are not our #1 ally would put them in the top 10

In the Middle East or world wide?

World wide, in the Middle East region they are easily #1

  • I will say I had the opportunity to meet a number of Israeli soldiers in my time in the USAF and they unilaterally impressed me as some of the most squared away soldiers I've ever met.

  • It seems some think we should be on the hook to pay Israel's bills because of the Holocaust. If one of your neighbor's breaks another neighbor's window, do you feel the need to atone forever even though you weren't at fault? Germany should be the one feeling the need to comp everything Israel does.

  • I think the threats, violence against, and fragile security makes them

a differenct case, than our other allies.

Iran isn't saying they want to blow England, France, or Germany, Norway

    off the map...

it's Israel. The so-called Palestinians could have had their own state, too, back

in the day...but they refused because they didn't want to live next to the new planned

Jewish state, the Jews they hated anyways.

So, they cut off their nose to spite their face, as the old saying goes, and Israel lives everyday

with terrorism, and threats, and more threatened hideous violence, even against children.

I'd say that gives Israel a far more serious, loyal standing with western countries, and makes

Israel's stituation stand out as a very serious, special case requiring far more support in protection.

Not just any ally, ya know?

  • Yes Chris, partially because they are Jewish. We have a large, successful and influential Jewish community here in the United States. Americans always seem to root for the underdog as well with Israel being at odds with nearly every other country around the region.

  • Palestinians sort of have a legitimate beef with Israel in my opinion but that's not my business. We have a lot of problems we could be working on in America before bending over backwards to prop up israel. Sell them weapons to defend themselves? Sure. Help them if they get into a tight spot? Of course. But act as their heavy? Nah. If they want to be a legitimate state they have to defend themselves. They chose the middle east for their nation.

  • The analogy, Logic, is nonsense. There is no historical tragedy of gigantic proportions

associated with a neighbor's window breaking.

Your neighbor can fix their window. The Jews can't fix the Holocaust. It's so horrible, and devastating in

world history. And it must never happen again. We see the same nazi style widespread crimes against

humanity with the daesch sp? now. The world can't slip into world war again. The first time Iran has a nuke

and sends it to Israel, Israel will respond back. Then the whole rest of the world can be happy that it didn't have

anything to do with them when nuclear winter debris floats around the world, all over everything.

When a simple denying Iran nukes in the first place, and supporting Israel bigtime, would have sufficed

to make the world so much a safer place.

If you had to pick, which one do you pick?

  • Again, we did not cause the Holocaust. Germany should be the one bending over backwards to help out Israel.

I would pick letting Israel fight their battles because they have the means to do so. They are an ally. Not some welfare state.

Baloney. The Palestinians have no legit beef with Israel. Of course Israel has always defended itself. Israel defended

itself during the 7 day war. Didn't want our direct military intervention. They won. But allowing Israel to be declared war on,

and them defending themselves...what do you think happens then? And they didn't choose the ME, they have always lived there,

and their country was created for them by the UN. The Palestinians have only their own stupid, anti-Semitism subculture to blame

    for their own pitiful plight.

  • I hate to break it to you cal but war is inevitable and with the nature of how we have electronically shrunk the globe another world war is inevitable.

  • remember that Israel did not take land from Palestine. They were attacked, not by Palestinians, but by Egypt Lebanon Syria and Jordan.

BstinkinS. Nobody is saying that. But the west tragically allowed it to happen.

But is take more than just one western country to support Israel to stop aggression towards Israel.

    ************************************************************

Sure. They've never asked for our soldiers to help them fight. But we do not want

them to have to fight a war because of open aggression by hateful countries. Not

supporting them, like Obamao is doing, openly gives aggressor countries a "green light"

    to a degree.

Grass is green or brown, depending.

  • Perhaps, then, those countries donating large amounts of money to Israel to defend itself from the threats of other countries should at the same time be aiming to reduce the threats as well? Like from Iran, for example, reducing their military capacity?

  • I remember the pictures from Palestine after 9/11. People were partying in the streets.

I would be pleased to see Iran's military capacity disabled if there were a feasible plan. If there were a way to knock out their nuclear facilities I would be all for it.

    WSS

  • Why are we so worried about Iran's military capability? Are we afraid of Iran? I think it's obvious that having a strong country over there is better than having lawless chaos. Are we better off with isis raging over there or were we better off with saddam and ghadafi?

  • Pakistan and north Korea have nuclear capabilities and Russia is the probable preeminent nuclear power and I trust none of them any more than I trust Iran.
