Browns interested in Brandon Browner

The Browns Board

  • You guys don't seem to realize how good of a CB Skrine was. Skrine should have been a Brown. He's probably the fastest player on... or the fastest player that WAS on the team. Buster played the game the way it was supposed to be played. He rarely held a WR in coverage... he was however called for a lot of penalties that shouldn't have been penalties. He was really good. He worked his ass off to get better every season and we reward him by letting him go. Horrible example of how to treat your own. But, sometimes you don't know what you had until it's gone.

I couldn't agree more! Not to mention he signed with the Jets for not real big money. What's wrong with the Browns? TJ Ward, Buster Skrine and Sheard not good enough?

  • I saw a video of Skrine just after he was drafted where he ran a 4.26-4.29 on stop watches with multiple timers. Yes, at the combine he is tied for the second fastest time... However, Benjamin blew out a knee last season and I doubt he's as fast as he was. Whitner ran that time 10 years ago, I also doubt he's that fast still. Cameron, another name on that list is about to be gone. Haden ran a 4.5 40... Whatever though, it's over and done with, I don't agree with it but it is what it is. One day when I own the Browns; we will win a Championship.

  • How is getting older an upgrade? Letting TJ Ward go was a mistake. Now Sheard and Skrine for older players? There's no continuity in this type of thinking. Sheard and Skrine should have been kept. If not then draft replacements. This is getting ridiculous. Pay the players on your team. If Sheard and Skrine were so mediocre tell that to The Patriots and the Jets.

Exactly. Not like those guys got signed for cap busting contracts.

Ward really sucked playing for the Broncos- NOT.

and he'd be the first one cut if they had to make that kind of move.

lord knows he put the broncs over the top like your boy sammy did for buffalo.

Actually, I don't think they see that they are replacing Skrine with an older player, but with younger players Gilbert/Desir/Williams. Browner would just be veteran depth.....not a quid pro quo replacement.

As for Sheard.....possibly his replacement will be Mingo or a name they call on draft day....so that too would be getting younger

  • Lots of assumption that Gilbert is simply going to step in and play opposite Haden, and we won't miss a beat. I hope that's not the FOs plan.

The money is not big for a #2 CB, but if the staff believes another backup was going to surpass him, then he's an expensive #3.

You really need to get over TJ.

    You can't keep them all...

Um....he wasn't really good either.....(can you say one dimensional?)

If my memory serves me, it was Whitner playing in the proBowl while Ward stayed home.....and it's Whitner who is rated top 10, while Ward is way down the list.....and it's Whitner who is considered a leader and mentor in the lockerroom, while Ward points fingers and creates tension....whitner brought a winners mentality to a bad team, while Ward did the opposite....

Id make that move over and over and over again.....

I don't have to. They'll find that out on their own...

True enough Tour- the Ravens found Ngata expendable. I just hope Farmer is right in his talent evaluation.

    ha! true that.

seems like as soon as we start talking about someone they're signed by someone else.

hope that stays true with bowe. please someone else sign him.

Or, as the case with Cameron/Clay.....The Browns sign somebody.... and that takes that discussion off the table.

Then I'll be sure NOT to mention that other nameless CB that was in today.....😉

Not picking on you but it better be. To miss on Manziel and Gilbert is a huge mistake.
