My biggest criticism of Manziel was that he did not give the Browns his best effort. He himself even admitted it. I can overlook about anything if someone is giving 100 percent. Maybe the reason for JM's lack of focus was that he needed treatment even sooner, maybe before the season even started. I knew that photo with him in the restroom last summer with the rolled up bill spelled nothing but trouble. Anyway I give him all the credit in the world for going into treatment and I am pulling for him not only as a Browns fan but for him personally. I look forward to seeing him give his best effort now and the comments I have read from Flip are that they are going to work him hard and have him focused on football. (obsessed with football is how Flip put it).

Im in the same camp and was disappointed with the effort too....lots to like about the kid, but felt his focus was all wrong and hated all the money sign - TMZ bs......
I will say this in his defense.....LOTS of guys come into the league and either fuck up or develop reputations that hurt them in the long run......so, I give JFF a mountain of credit for seeing the light early(well before most do) and taking steps to correct things....
Dont know what his issue is or if he even has one.....but Im encouraged that HE see's the need to do something and has taken BIG steps to correct it......too bad guys like JG didn't learn as fast.....
Definitely HOPE he comes in ready to play!......Ive written him off(in my mind), so if he's shows up....its a big bonus!....

Let's hope that's the case because I would much rather not have to draft a QB again this year. I'm hoping he's out of rehab soon and can get on the field and start proving how hard he's willing to work to be a "face of the franchise" type of QB which is what we need.

Personally....I'm playing the hand I have and drafting a QB in the 3rd or whatever and giving Manziel one more year. I don't think Mariotta or Winston are the next Andrew Luck so I'm not selling the farm for either of them.

I wouldn't mind Sean Mannion in the 4th, similar to Mike Glennon....
I would just focus on patching up the o-line, the defensive front 7 and getting TE and WR .

Mannion's too long of a reach for my taste, but we can't stand pat. Have to bring in fresh, QB blood.
If that prospect is Mariota, so be it, go get him... otherwise try Hundley or Petty, but I cannot see standing pat as an option.
Consider either putting Johnny on the non-football injury list or try to get Shaw back on the PS, but somehow make room for a new prospect.

I just hope Manziel realizes (and I'm sure this was told to him) that removing the bad people out of his life is just as important as anything else. I'll be excited to see him at OTA's.

HA!!!! i personally like the all brown unis once in awhile but i know the vast majority here hates them.

It seems like this is the way of the Browns now regardless of name, status, draft round, contract - if you're in camp, you have a chance to be the starter if you're the best guy. See K'Waun Williams > Gilbert, Crowell > Tate, Gabriel > Burleson. It'll be no different for McCown, Manziel, Lewis, Shaw, and whoever else we pick up along the way.
