    Connor Shaw is the answer.

    He will save us

Mariota is not the answer. He was not accurate enough to start day1 this fall, let alone be worth multiple draft picks, when put under actual pressure from OSU in the title game. Cardale Jones was the best QB on the field that day.

Could he make the leap and become a viable starter? Sure.. if anyone could, he could. But it's not guaranteed. Just look at the Dolphins right now.. Tannehill is in the conversation of the t12 QB's after 3 years.. and they aren't certain he's worth resigning.

  • Id say you are notorious for posting this baseless shit....

It's a bad writer taking a Mary Kay post out of context and making an article about her speculation......do you even know what "speculation" is?????................. here's a hint....it's made up and contains no fact.....

Here's where the author got his info for this article.....took me about 2 seconds to find the source(and disprove) this one.....

If anything Mariota is not ready to start day 1. We saw first hand what Johnny Football did- even after sitting for the better part of a year.

& if we're going to "Play like Clowns" with McCown- May as well "Fail for Cardale".

Gosh taking Mariota would be so unbelievably stupid. It's like all these Ohio State fans didn't even watch the NC game.

  • if mariota falls to 12 you take him. period.

no, he's not a sure-fire no question solid #1 like luck but he could grow to be better than luck.

besides if he's there at 12 that means you can still get great players at 19 and 43.

mariota is a better pick this year than manziel was last.

    sorry AG.

I've heard it all now. This is absurd.

You guys do realize Chip Kelly wanted Johnny over Mariota at Oregon right? The guy is taller and has his head on straighter, whoop-de-frickin-do. Still a spread quarterback with a million question marks.

We got McCown for a reason. Let's stick to the plan.

So Mariota's not the guy, but if anyone in this draft can become the guy, then he's the guy? But we should not go after him. That about it?

Guaranteed guys are extremely rare and virtually no picks for them become available. Even Elway was taken by the team he would not play for and then was traded...

Miami gambled big time reaching for a QB with only two years of college QB-ing experience... and right now their gamble is looking pretty damn good. Tannehill's season-to-season improvement has been steady for three years. If he can maintain or improve on his 2014 performance, then the Fins are going to clear cap space and back up the truck to be sure he's there for the remainder of the decade... at minimum.

Tannehill was always a QB. This is one of the biggest misconceptions in the NFL. He played QB art through grade school, he was recruited as a quarterback, he played quarterback exclusively throughout his redshirt year and even when he did play receiver, he was still cross-training at QB and had the sole right to the backup job.

Miami would also be plain fools not to resign him.

Having to choose between Shelton and Mariotta would give me a headache.

If they were both there at 12, I'd draft Mariota then trade 19 & our 2nd to the Saints to move up to 13 and take Shelton...

Getting both of them would be worth those 3 picks... IMHO

You got it. Been saying it for a while. Box in pick 12 with pick 11 or pick 13. The Talent will be There may not be Shelton Nor Mariota. Screw the value to move up charts. Just don't see the price to be right to get there IMO..

There is little to no chance Mariota will fall to the Browns. He will not get past the Jets. The only way Mariota becomes a Brown is through a trade and that won't happen this year. Mike Pettine is going defense and offensive line in the early draft. Count on it. I see Malcom Brown if Shelton is already taken and maybe Andrus Peat. Difference makers will be going in the first round and I cannot see the Browns passing on the likes of Shelton, Brown, Collins, Peat, Beasely for another system quarterback. We have one who is in rehab and will be given a chance to compete for the number one spot. Defense and O-line will be their priority in the first round. It's not unthinkable that they would take Petty or Grayson later on but we need wide receivers and a tight end. Farmer needs to do his job and prove to the organization that he is worthy of the title of GM. Why would they risk it all on another unproven who wouldn't get the start anyway.

you're probably right, but the question is if he IS there (mariota @12) do you take him instead of a NT or DE/OLB or WR or....?

The only one against a defense worth a damn. I guess Arizona was ok. He went 1-2 against them. FSU had some solid guys but they had struggled all year. Even so, Mariota struggled early on in that game.

If anyone thinks Johnny wouldn't have had a better record than Mariota had he gone to Oregon (as he was originally committed to do), they're delusional. One's taller and more humble. One's got pretty much everything else better. But you guys want to waste a first rounder on the inferior guy.

Most fans want instant success from the quarterback position, i.e. Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers. But if you remember, Even the great quarterbacks were given time to develop. Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning were horrible in their rookie years. It's time the Browns organization realizes that you can't draft a quarterback in the first round every year! Brady Quinn, Colt McCoy, Weeden and Manziel just to name a few were either not good at all or didn't develop. The Browns need to at least try and develop Manziel this year. Isn't this the reason McCown was signed rather than Hoyer? If Manziel cannot beat out Josh McCown the Browns will then look to next year's draft.

And there is also a good chance they take Petty or Grayson somewhere in this draft. Let's hope the front office and coaches are more patient than the fans.

It takes time no matter who the quarterback is.

I dont see us taking him either way.....if he's worth it at #12, then(in my world) he should be worth trading up for... right?

But I just heard Pettine say he wanted an elite D and we were gonna focus on that in the draft...

    Then I saw Farmer sign 2 QB's and 2 WR's........(but no NT or LB's)......

So, it would amaze me if we went QB in the first....
