  • Yes Bell is one of the few great three-down backs but he was second in the league in the percentage of his offense's plays that he was in the game for. Which was cool because you knew what you had in Blount so you didn't need to be giving him reps.

But once he was gone they should have had a better backup in place. I do believe they lost that playoff game due to Ben Tate's newness but maybe I'm wrong.

Absolutely, not having a competent back up prepared to carry the load was a big deal. Thankfully they went out and signed Williams and we still have Archer and Harris. The ravens didn't have to worry about the run and it showed.

True, I expect williams to get the lion's share in Bell's absence, and going forward for williams to get a lot of garbage time touches.

Agreed. I loved the signing. He's a high character guy with experience and I believe he has some gas in the tank. The time share in Carolina was just weird. I'm curious to see what Stewart does with Williams now a steeler. I also agree on garbage time, although I expect him to give more of a spell than blount did but who knows. Bell is one of the few three down backs in the league.

All I know is the draft needs to get here already. The wait is always so damn brutal. Im just glad it's not in may again.

I wanted the browns to sign Williams. If he can stay healthy for the most part, he'll have a solid season no doubt.

  • Good thing the Browns don't have any substance abusers.....

Well at least one of ours was smart enough to just go check himself into rehab rather than play it out until caught with a DUI or something.

  • Not forgetting Davone Bess who was clearly a pot head but still posses clean.

  • don't forget, unless you are on their watch list nfl players only piss once a year and they all know when.

sorta like the combine, you know when you are getting tested so to fail that means you can't stop yourself, weed is more important to you than the game and you are dumb as a rock.

  • I would assume its going to get appealed down. 3 games is pretty steep for a first offense. Thankfully we signed deangelo Williams.

You don't know if that was "just" a first offense. Same deal as with Gordon- the NFL doesn't publish the first one- it's all confidential.

  • First offense????....ha!

more likely it's his THIRD or FOURTH offense.....

The new NFL policy for weed is:

1st offense = strike one and admission into the drug program

    2nd offense = strike 2 and a 2 game fine

    3rd offense = strike 3 and a 4 game fine.....

    4th offense = strike 4 and a suspension upto 4 games.....

so, assuming they are following policy, Bell has already had 3 fails......

  • I'm calling it now, we play them week 4

    LOL! I hear ya man.

Pittsburgh's Cheech and Chong already got to play against us week 1 last year while our marijuana man wasn't allowed to join teammates. Keep in mind, Pouncey was arrested in August of 2014 and how many games did he miss in this "No-Nonsense" kingdom of Roger Goodell's?

One of my friends reminded me that because Roger answers directly to Rooney first, Steeler suspensions have a way of getting reduced by at least 1 week (ie; Ben Rapen). We prolly play them week 3 and his suspension will have already been reduced.

Lost in translation? Pittsburgh got an offseason to plan accordingly so they signed a former first round draft pick DeAngelo Williams to fill the void. Aside from that, Bell is coming off an injury so in terms of what's best long term/durability wise - guess who's business investment Roger is looking out for? You don't say...

But Ben didn't get suspended for rape.

They punish the first one now. There is quite a bit of controversy in certain circles because as it stands Bell is being punished under the old and the new conduct policy. He should have two games at most. Instead he has three games and a game check for the 4th. It was also 100% his first offense. He is only just now entering his third season, the media would have fleshed out a previous offense if there were one. Gordon is also a completely different animal as he's as good at failing tests as he is racking up yardage.

You aren't smart. He got pulled over IN a CAR which got him a DWI or whatever the hell they call it now. He didn't have to take a piss test as his DUI was based on weed.

Personal conduct and the Rooney's wanted him suspended

I don't know about Pa.....but in Ohio the offense is technically called OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence). (but people still just say DUI)

And yes, it can be for either alcohol or other drugs.. And just like with alcohol the concentration level of marijuana must be at a certain level......but YES....a person does have to give urine or blood in order to measure for marijuana. The BAC machines only measure alcohol.

This is the relevent portion or the Ohio Revised Code 4511.19 re levels:

(vii) The person has a concentration of marihuana in the person's urine of at least ten nanograms of marihuana per milliliter of the person's urine or has a concentration of marihuana in the person's whole blood or blood serum or plasma of at least two nanograms of marihuana per milliliter of the person's whole blood or blood serum or plasma.

Yes, I do I know that. That is why I asked what specifically he was suspended for.

    An appropriate song for him:

Gipper not the point but I'm not surprised you are in here spinning it like you just joined a pottery class. Bell isn't on his 3rd or 4th offense. He was pulled over, the car smelled like weed and he had it in his system. He's being suspended because of the dui and because goodell is a dumb ass also being punished under both the new and old policy. Don't be surprised if he gets a one game but I expect a two.

I wasn't "spinning" anything. I don't give a shit about what violation Bell is on.

I was correcting you about your statement that a person being charged with OVI for marijuana consumption did not have to drop urine or have blood taken to have that substance tested for.

Would you really like to dispute me on that? If so, demonstrate how many DUI cases you have defended.....or how many you have served as the hearing magistrate on. Can you do that?

And demonstrate this new technology that police departments have come up with to measure drugs in one's system without having to use urine or blood.

Also not the point. He didn't have to take a NFL piss test. I thought my context was pretty easy to follow considering he was talking about the levels of the new NFL drug policy.
