  • i don't agree with the marijuana laws in this country which in turn means the NFL as well BUT it's really not about that. it's about the fact that in 2 days you're supposed to be in chicago in a suit waiting to get called from an NFL team to start your new career and the last thing THE VERY FUCKING LAST THING you should be around in those 2 days up to that is drugs and bars and everything involved with it.

having weed on him is no big deal on a law enforcement level but how fucking STOOPID do you have to be to get popped with it? speeding with weed in your pocket is not a very bright thing to do no matter who you are.

a scumbag? no. a fucking dolt? yes.

so you're a fan of shitty pussies? cuz you seem to be on here an awful lot.

  • My Shelton/Ray first round might happen, let's do this!

  • The amount of overreaction on this board is fucking crazy.

Ray was not arrested - he was cited. He was pulled over for speeding, the police officer found a personal amount of unsmoked marijuana in his car and wrote him a citation. He was cooperative. He was not impaired. He was not detained. He was given a misdemeanor possession and has to appear in court.

It's the same thing your 16 year old son gets when cops pull him over and find a dime bag. Is your 16 year old a scumbag? Are you ready to write him off?

Hopefully he falls to the early second and we can grab him there, but he won't. That's top-10 talent and a team like Denver or Seattle will pick him up in a heartbeat...because they're not shitty pussies.

I mean, I don't think a bunch of people are against this point. But, I can still say it's beyond stupid for the dude to be within a mile of weed or any other substance so close to a life changing moment in the draft. That small mistake is probably going to cost him millions in money.

Once again, who said he was in a bar? And, even if he was, the time he was pulled over (6 a.m.) leads me to believe that, even if he were out, he went somewhere to sober up before driving. This title is completely misleading and erroneous. No DUI. No arrest. He showed zero signs of impairment. He didn't resist.

Further, they found less than 30 grams in one of his compartments, not his pocket. Unsmoked. He wasn't leaving a bar and hotboxing his car. He wasn't speeding and swerving and smoking weed.

So, at the most, he went out to some bars, sobered up for four hours, then got caught speeding with a minimal amount of marijuana that he probably bought from one of his friends to celebrate being drafted.

    Im guessing Irony?

Cause overreacting to people overreacting when few are actually overreacting is really overreacting, isnt it?

Dude is gonna lose like 15 million bucks....up in smoke, literally.

I mean, I don't care about the dope....but being so stupid as to put that kind of money in jeopardy says a lot about the guys intellect...or lack thereof, if nothing else.

You know who is tearing his hair out? His agent.....his parents. (Imagine the house he could have bought them with the now up in smoke signing bonus)

Questioning a guy's intellect over a very minimal amount of marijuana...that's overreacting.

Smart teams look at this and go..."oh, well that sucks." Not "fuck this guy, he's a cancer, I don't want no weed smoker on my team, he's gonna bring the locker room down." That's why Ray will likely go to a playoff team in the end of the first round and we'll be standing around with our thumbs up our asses saying "at least we don't got no gotdamn weed smokers".

read my post again. i said the last place he needs to be is around drugs or a bar. i didn't say he was in a bar. i don't know where he was at. speeding with anything illegal on you, in the car, whatever is just stupid. you're inviting the cops to pull you over and discover what you don't want to discover.

    shows very bad decision making.

now would that stop me from taking him @19? good question. if you think he only did this once (well we know that's not true) or his behavior can be modified in the weed smoking category, then yeah i'd take him. someone said today on one of the shows that there are over 200 good qualityplayers going to the nfl draft and only one got caught with weed 3 days before the event.

my biggest point in all these stupid weed cases in the NFL is: the guy does you no good if he can't play.

  • Ok......i see both sides and have zero issues with weed and people who smoke it....wish it was just legal and all this crap would go away.....also still want to pick him myself(as already stated above)......I guess when I read the thread, I looked to me like MOST people were saying "oh well, that sucks"...and.... "that'll cost him"...which are both fair to say...

And i only see a couple actually saying fuck him or calling him a scumbag(well, no one actually called him anything except stupid).....

which is a fairly valid argument too......I mean, you cant say it's "smart" to get busted for drugs the biggest week of your life.....so, its fair.....

And Im not sure how those few opinions on this board mean that now all the GM's in the league agree and will pass .....except Seattle and NE????

considering we have a pro bowl WR that hasn't seen the field in for however and won't see it again for another season, would you want a 'weed smoker' on your team?

    Thats it......

I dont know how this will work with Ray, since he just got a ticket and wasnt tested......and that will be the difference for me....

Gregory tested bad at the combine and now has be placed in the NFL subtance abuse program, so he already has a strike before ever stepping on the field.....I wouldnt want to draft a guy with a strike with a high pick.....but would gamble a little later for sure....

Ray???...I dont know.....if they put him in the program now(giving him a strike) then his value drops a lot....if they dont put him in the program(the value drops less).....unfortunately, we wont know if he's getting penalized by the NFL until after you pick him......

  • So, Dion Jordan is suspended all of next season. Picked three spots ahead of Mingo - I guess it could have been worse for us 😉

  • What was the PC to search his rig?

  • And Shane Ray's foot might need surgery. Don't draft this guy until way later. Randy Gregory will be a solid player if he stays off the weed.

And yes, Polian said Shelton was a bad pick for the Browns. He said something like nobody that slow has ever been successful in the NFL.

BROWNS draft La'el Collins and Eddie Goldman and Devin Smith

  • No more druggies. Next.....

  • What was the PC to search his rig?

    @wargograw said:

According to the report, the officer could smell the marijuana. However, that's kind of sketchy...since it was a tiny amount and it was supposedly in his glove compartment. I'd say the PC to search was the fact that Ray was a non-white who got caught speeding at 6 a.m.

News for you...there's probably 15 or more of them already on the team. Recreational use was at over 10% back in 2009. I'm sure it's MUCH higher today.

Gordon failed multiple drug tests and multiple colleges, then multiple tests in the NFL. Ray failed one, early in his career at Mizzou. One in three years...compared with three in one year - definitely sounds like he's in the same ring as Gordon.

  • you still don't get it. i never said he's in the same 'ring' as gordon.

i'm saying why take the chance is all?

sure there prob 75% weed smokers in the league. you know the difference between them, randy gregory and shane ray are? they're smart enought to know when they get tested and stop doing stoopid shit when they have to. other players are too dumb or they don't care.

    which one is ray?
