  • To me this is very reminiscent of the Johnny Finger incident...not a REAL big deal....but an indication that he struggles with keeping his cool when you ruffle his feathers....

How many other players have flipped off the opposing bench for name calling or thrown bottles at idiot fans???

it seems it's easy to get under his skin(and his fans skin too, ftm).....and he hasn't gained any insight in this area since the redskins game......

He also has some record comebacks when you ruffle his feathers. Not condoning him going out, but comparing this to how he handles a blitz is ridiculous to me.

  • If he's good it will be so much fun to have him on our team. Him flicking off Rice (or pointing at the scoreboard, whatever it was) just got the juices flowing as a fan. If his attitude makes him flame out, fine, whatever. The Browns are bigger than one guy. But if he's good and keeps the edge no player will be more exciting for his antics, even if his play on the field isn't that exciting.

  • UPDATE: Mary Kay Cabot passes along a statement from an Irving police spokesperson:

Details: Irving police spokesman told Cleveland.com a fan harassed Johnny manziel at hotel pool. Refused to stop…. Manziel threw a water bottle at the man, an 18-year-old. Things escalated. Hotel security intervened, then police also intervened… Police did not detect that Manziel had been drinking. Fan decided not to press charges. No charges filed.

    ----------------------------------------------------

So now we find out it was actually at the hotel pool and not at the golf course. Yeah JM needs to stay way from living any kind of life. Give me an f'n break.

And you "fans" who are always quick to throw him under the bus need to crawl back in your holes.

Ben Roethlisberger is a human meatball. He's 17-2 against the Browns and wears two rings.

No gives a fuck about how "fun" Johnny will be if he wins ... just fucking win. Don't give a shit about his "edge". I'm watching Manning, Brady and Wilson in the last two super bowls. Mature, all business, no flipping people off.

Let the wide receivers and running backs bring the drama. Concentrate on scoring tds and winning football games, if you are flipping people off, you're probably not winning.

Yeah we need to quit being meanies to a millionaire athlete who is fresh out of rehab and just getting over a season of fucking over his team.

No, but being harassed for two hours by this jerk was not exactly what I would call "unprovoked" either.

What happened to all the Cleveland fans that tell me they support their players through thick and thin? That's the real mystery here.

I'm sure the 18 year old was a flipping idiot.

But Johnny wasn't committed to the Cleveland Browns last year, so until he overcomes that on the football field, fan will see every little incident as further proof that he is not the guy. You fanboys are just going to have to live with that until he fucking bleeds brown and orange and starts winning football games,

You're right. There's never been a Super Bowl winning QB with any personality. And I know you must have your facts straight because you cursed a lot in your reply. I take it you wouldn't have taken Jameis Winston at any point in the draft? It's also funny you cite Tom Brady, who is yelling at his own teammates and coaches, getting into it with refs, telling the media to piss off, and generally being a complete asshat.

Obviously Johnny "being good" would involve scoring touchdowns, so your post was a complete waste of breath. You act like I want him to start so he can cash out while the snap bounces off his chest, hits the ground, Crow comes and picks it up, and Johnny flips the bird to any defenders that celebrate. Then we do it all again the next play! Yeah dude, I totally don't care about him scoring touchdowns, and because something besides touchdowns gets my juices flowing, touchdowns must NOT get my juices flowing. Lol

Now curse at me for three paragraphs. Make fun of my age, location, and coincidental fandom of the school Johnny attended. Then hurl some personal insults at him just for good measure. Can't get enough of that.

You have a complex about your "location" and "school", dude.

It's your words that I reply to.

Your saying how great it would be if he was good and still had the edge ... what a great ride for the fans.

I'm saying just stop at "being good". That's all we want. The rest is horseshit and doesn't make the ride any better.

Team A has a quarterback that gets to the playoffs every year. Team B has a quarterback that gets to the playoffs every year .. and has an "attitude" and flips people off .. it's more fun to be the fan of QB B? I don't think so, I prefer the classier guy, but just win and I can handle either.

    Zombo

  • Yes I have the complex when others here make fun of southerners in every other thread. Ok. And you were the one that went off about my being an Aggie at our first disagreement.

Yes, I love quarterback B, and so will the vast majority of fans. I think Johnny's notoriety has already proved that. But yes I realize it won't make any difference if he sucks.

Manning rubbed his balls on a female trainers face then blackmailed her about it and Brady left his pregnant girlfriend for a supermodel...plus he cheats at football.

Good comparisons when making the argument for "consummate pros".

So he's famous because he has an attitude or whatever.

Cleveland Browns fans still not impressed. And that is the only thing that matters around here.

He's been in the league a year, he hasn't won a game, scored three points in two starts, backs up Josh McClown and today he threw a water bottle at an 18 year old.

    And missed.

Manning ... was a junior in college. Everything Johnny has done in college is forgiven. Everything Johnny has done in the pros is downright shameful so far.

    Brady ... so?

    Zombo

  • So.... he is arguably the most successful quarterback of all time and completely deflates, if you will, your theory.

Cleveland Browns fans were "impressed" enough to put him in the top 5 or something nuts like that of jersey sales before ever even taking a snap. Did Weeden do that? McCoy? Quinn? Clearly Browns fans really wanted him to be the guy, and his personality had something to do with that.

So he sold a lot of jerseys and then mailed in his rookie season.

Ya, I think he's our favorite player of all time right about now.
