Who has the best chance?

Didn't know that but I don't really have a problem with it.
You mean you have never made a trip to your local legal whorehouse? Hell, do you even know where your local legal whorehouse is?
If not, you can apparently get help from the service run by this guy:

I wonder if there are any casinos that'll let you burn a fatty and play Black Jack, whilst polishing your gun and knob at the same time?

Seriously, no gambling (generally) outside of very specific restricted locations? Howcome?

we are a country built on diversity....
prostitutes in vegas get rich....prostitutes in Ohio go to jail
gambling in some states is good business.....gambling in other states is organized crime...
selling weed in Colorado is medicine distribution......selling weed in NY gets you 10 years.....
walking down the street with a machine gun is completely legal......but reaching for your cell phone might get you shot...
we embrace all diversity ....yet hate everybody who is different...
we are very progressive......yet completely against any type of change....
and you can do all of these things and get away with it....or get arrested, or beaten, or shot ....just kinda depends....

Guessing you would just as soon get rid of state governments?

are you also guessing I want to debate politics here?....cause that would be wrong.....

Hey you went on the rant originally!

Hey you went on the rant originally!
I went on a rant?....about State government?.....ok, if you say so....?
In my world, I just responded to Chris questioning why we have some things legal in some places and then not have them legal in others...
And offered some insight(and, I believe, complete truths) about how things are very inconsistent here in the US of A....but I certainly dont see where I took a stand(on anything) or mentioned anything about getting rid of state governments....
Y'all can keep your politics and foolish debates for the loony board.....
-
But the reason the inconsistencies exist is because state governments have the right to make their own (differing) laws. That's the point.
-
Because it kills communities.
Nah. I don't know what community you are talking about. Here there are casinos in downtown Cleveland, which filled an empty department store that had been closed for years, and downtown Cleveland is doing just fine.
And in Northfield, a casino was essentially built in the parking lot of a racetrack....and the community was and is a nice commuter community.
And in North Randall. Trust me, that community was killed long before the casino got there. Again, it was placed inside a racetrack.
The two racetracks had been in those locations for decades....so gambling had been happening there for decades. A new form just came about. And as far as I know, there have been no reports of Northfield/North Randall/Cleveland being inundated with degenerate gamblers.
So, if you know of some place that has gone to hell all of a sudden when a casino got located there, then let us know.

Yes, it is a fair point. Some things are best left to national uniformity.....but in other areas things can be different.

I don't know about "all of a sudden" because I haven't looked into the history of the cities. When you see casinos in the south though, it's not as part of a nice city. I've only been to Shreveport and Tunica. They were pretty trashy. New Orleans is terrible. Louisiana is pretty bad in general and there's a ton of gambling. Oklahoma has gambling and it's awful. Cleveland is not noted as a particularly vibrant city so IMO it's not a very good citation.

Sorry, don't know what you think is vibrant. New Orleans is vibrant, Cleveland is vibrant.
Have you ever actually been to either.
I have been to Shreveport....and it is by no means trashy.
Maybe it is just the south in general that is not nice...to you.
Every city has its trashy parts. Most casinos I have seen have improved the appearance of a lot of towns.
-
Vibrant's not the best word. You can be the trashiest city ever and still be very vibrant. New Orleans perfect example. But most consider Cleveland to have died of its old glory. I know you don't believe that. But that's the perception.
Of course the casinos themselves are nice. The rest of Shreveport is garbage. The South's been amazing to me, trust me.

I believe that.....but I also think Cleveland faded loooong before we had a casino....and the casino has not detracted, but actually added a great deal to the revitalization of downtown and the night life....
And, Id say, a lot of the places that have added casinos have done so because they are already down and are using the casino to attract tourists and generate economic activity....
So, Id agree with Gip that Ive never seen a city get dragged down by adding Casinos, but have seen them grow after adding them.....
and Id argue the casino cities you listed as depressed, aren't that way "because" of the casinos....but were already that way all on their own.....
Cleveland was not vibrant before the casino....New Orleans has been a hole forever......etc etc...
-
Ok, fair enough. It can't help with the revitalization though. It provides a decent amount of low-skilled jobs. That's a good thing of course. But way too many folks in the city that don't make much money turn around and spend a good portion of what little they have at the casinos. Same reason the lottery is called a tax on those who can't do math. Poor people buy the lottery almost exclusively. I believe it's similar with gambling in some of these cities although I do realize the odds aren't as bad at a casino.
When did Cleveland add casinos?

Casino's sure as hell didn't help Atlantic City. If you've ever been there you know what I mean. I think many of them have closed down now.
Cleveland right now is on the upswing. New hotels, convention center, bars, restraurants, etc. We only have on Casino and it is smack dab in the center of the downtown area. Right next to restaurants, bars, etc.

I don't think it's the casinos that cause the big problems, especially if they have a strict dress code that 'people who can't do math' won't be able to adhere to (as is the case here). The bigger problem would be the high-street bookies, where anyone can walk in, drunk or not, stay in there all day gambling on the gee gees, then kick them back on the streets at 10pm.
Fortunately we've made decent progress on them here where those places are now more inviting for non-addicts.
