I wasn't trying to be funny. I was letting you know how ridiculous your position is on it. I don't know if kids growing up now are just made of Charmin and presume everyone else is or should be as influenced by what someone says on social media as they tend to feel. Others didn't grow up with needing everyone to tell them how they are wonderful and unique snowflakes.

Your generation didn't grow up with social media so your comments on it are from a position of ignorance. If you can tell me where I said or even implied that they need to be told they're special or anything close to it, I'd be shocked. There's a difference between just not bashing a guy for every. little. thing. he. does. (despite him actually playing ok) and coddling him. You can only see extremes and not the shades of gray. But then again people like that is what weak sarcasm is for.

You and Choco sure do read a lot into things even if they aren't there. Also, I am in my early 30s so I definitely grew up with social media but I guess I missed the beginning of the "everyone's opinion effects me" wave of thinking.
I wasn't the one trying to say that what fans and sports writers say is effecting Gilbert. If he can't be an adult and tune out distractions then he is in for a rough life. Ultimately it will be his talent level and work ethich, not what some fans think of him, that will determine how far he goes.

If you are picked in the first, you will have more expectations of you. That is plain and simple. If you come in and even have teammates talking about how you need to grow up, then I don't think any following scrutiny from media members or fans should be shocking. That said, he shouldn't be concerned with the opinions of anyone outside of that locker room.
